A much brighter picture than yesterday for many, although cloud and rain will linger in Scotland. This will gradually move northwards. Across England and Wales, sunny spells with some scattered showers moving in from the south and west, with the possibility of some thunder. Warmer down south in the sunshine, but cooler in the north and Scotland under the gloom and rain. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 07/10/24. 00:00Good morning. It's a much brighter picture out there for many of us than sunshine and
00:04showers but it is cloudy across Scotland this morning. So a gloomy start here with outbreaks
00:10of rain. That will gradually move its way northwards and start easing. Towards the north-west
00:16we're already seeing some heavy spells of showers but towards England and Wales, sunny
00:21spells, scattered showers developing. Some of these showers could be on the heavy side,
00:27perhaps even with the odd rumble of thunder too. And we'll start to see showers merging
00:32to give longer spells of rain towards the south-west later. But where you do miss one
00:38of those showers and in the sunshine, it should be feeling pleasant in the south with highs
00:41up to 17 or 18 degrees. But under any persistent rain, towards Orkney and Shetland feeling
00:47cooler here with a bit more of an easterly breeze. So through Monday evening, some early
00:53evening sunshine but towards the far south-west, we have outbreaks of heavy rain moving their
00:59way northwards so it could give some disruption during rush hour. That will gradually push
01:04into northern Ireland and north-western parts of England to start Tuesday morning. There'll
01:10be some clear spells in between, perhaps allowing for some mist and fog patches to develop but
01:15towards the south-west, we're already seeing a further spell of showers moving through.
01:22But it'll be a largely mild night to come, generally 11 or 12 degrees towards the south,
01:28perhaps just a little bit colder towards the far north. So it's going to be quite a messy
01:33picture out there through Tuesday morning. We've got a band of rain continuing across
01:37northern Ireland, north-western England pushing into Scotland. Towards the far south and west
01:43of England, sunny spells but frequent scattered showers moving through. Again, some of these
01:49could be on the heavy side, perhaps with the odd rumble of thunder as well. And it is going
01:54to be quite breezy towards the south and also towards the far north of Scotland. Here it'll
02:01also be feeling quite chilly but in the sunshine and where you dodge the showers, hopefully
02:06towards the far south and east, we'll see highs up to 17, possibly even 18 degrees.
02:14So there's still an unsettled picture to come but for more details on the forecast,
