00:00The Selangor Government and Education Ministry have joined hands to improve
00:04the quality of education in the state,
00:06encompassing all aspects of human capital development.
00:10They aim to achieve the objectives through the Terkad Reformasi
00:14pendidikan program launched in Kajang on Monday.
00:17We have put in place several aspects
00:21so that a reset of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis
00:29can start something new.
00:32Actually, the excitement about this has started since 2019
00:39when the government reaffirmed that education
00:44must be an important basis for development and progress
00:50in our country.
00:52To ensure that Selangor remains stable
00:55as the largest main contributor in the KDNK,
00:59the field of education is an indispensable basis.
01:04Otherwise, we will always rely on import sources
01:11or maybe from foreign countries.
01:14And we are unable to give a direct impact on development and progress
01:19to the people of our country.
01:23Later at a press conference,
01:25Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Sri Amiruddin Syari
01:28said the program will encompass academic, sports and culture,
01:32technical, vocational, education and training,
01:34as well as special needs education.
01:37He said the state's People's Tuition Center
01:39will conduct literacy and numeracy training
01:42for 17,000 children in primary schools
01:45who are struggling with reading, writing and counting.
01:48Education Minister Fadlina Sidek said nationwide,
01:52the ministry had identified 122,000 year-one pupils
01:56as still lacking the three essential skills.
01:59We have identified more than 83,000 children
02:07who will be involved in this program,
02:11especially those with 3D, 3M, SPM and literacy skills.
02:18Numbers are dynamic.
02:20As long as they are controlled through interventions
02:23both at the state level and at the federal level,
02:26and through our children's programs,
02:28the numbers will change.
02:32The ministry said Selangor was chosen for the launch
02:35of the Terkad Reformasi Pendidikan program
02:38because the state had shown
02:39an impressive performance in education
02:42in terms of academics and sports.
