The Education Ministry recorded a significant decrease in the absenteeism rate of students sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, from 10,000 students to 8,000 students last year, thanks to various intervention measures.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said this positive achievement is the result of several initiatives implemented by the ministry.

00:00Yes.
00:02Recently, 10,000 people attended the SPM meeting.
00:06What are the steps taken to make it easier for MPs to vote?
00:12First of all, it's not true that 10,000 people attended.
00:14We have released our answer specifically to the people's council.
00:19The actual number is only 8,000.
00:21This is a significant number.
00:23This means that we have ensured that we can handle the SPM meeting.
00:29Before this, the number was 10,000.
00:31Last year, the SPM meeting was 8,000.
00:34The KPM meeting was only 6,000.
00:38This shows that the intervention we carried out was successful.
00:42Especially when it comes to ensuring their attendance at the meeting and the SPM meeting.
00:48For example, when there was a flood,
00:51we ensured that 97% of the students attended the SPM meeting.
00:57The same goes for the programs carried out by the PPD and JPN.
01:02Visiting the church,
01:04meeting with the community,
01:07and monitoring the flood from the beginning,
01:09the intervention carried out from level 3 and 4,
01:13had a significant impact on the attendance of our students at the SPM meeting.
01:17We hope that this year, their attendance at the SPM meeting will be better.
01:24If last year it was 8,000,
01:26and for the KPM meeting it was 6,000,
01:28we hope that this year there will be a reduction
01:30with more strict intervention that we carry out
01:33and to remind them of their obligations.
