00:00If in a jeep with a lot of space, more than 20 passengers can fit in it.
00:09In a long-distance or motorized vehicle, it can accommodate a lot of people.
00:16It's spacious.
00:19It's spacious.
00:23It's spacious.
00:24It's spacious.
00:25It's spacious.
00:26There are a lot of places here in Davao de Oro in Mindanao.
00:33Just like in the town of Montevista, if you enter everyday, it's a challenge to travel.
00:40But there's no problem.
00:42To the rescue, the so-called Skylab.
00:48It's a long-distance vehicle that can climb mountains.
00:52And it's not just for show, because it can carry a weight of 400 to 450 kg.
01:04If you look at it, it's just an ordinary motorcycle like the ones used in tricycles.
01:10What's different is the iron seats that surround the driver.
01:15It will balance him.
01:18It's called Skylab because its design was taken from the satellite Skylab,
01:23which was first brought by the United States to space.
01:27But for its drivers, Skylab was taken from the most famous word,
01:33the vehicle,
01:34LAB.
01:37And one of its loverboys and fans is the Skylab driver, Charlie,
01:43who passed by Skylab to get married.
01:48In 2012, Charlie started his long journey.
01:52This is where he started his work since he was a child until he got married.
01:56Since then, we have a motorcycle and Skylab was made to carry products to the center or barrios of people.
02:09Skylab is also their main source of income.
02:13From the transportation of products, to the transportation of passengers,
02:17now they also have a small store.
02:22Places like Monte Vista, where Charlie travels,
02:28are visited by ordinary vehicles because of the rough roads.
02:32And because transportation in the area is difficult,
02:36this is the opportunity he saw to earn money.
02:38It is also good to earn money while traveling.
02:44In one hour of travel, the fare is 100 pesos per passenger.
02:52Even if it is an extra-challenging and rough road,
02:55Charlie is very brave.
02:59Most of the passengers go to the town to shop.
03:04Skylab is affordable because we can carry a lot of products when we go down to our town.
03:15No one else can afford it, only Skylab.
03:21But with the daily trips to rough and bumpy roads,
03:24accidents are inevitable.
03:26In 2021, while Charlie was traveling on the road,
03:29suddenly, a car collided with him.
03:35He was out of balance, and his windshield was punctured.
03:45I feel sad because of how much we spend every day for our family.
03:53When this happened, he had to stop traveling.
03:57And the road was closed for almost a year.
04:03But his dream of earning money for his wife and two children did not stop.
04:14Sometimes, Charlie's life was out of balance in an accident.
04:17But the most important thing is that he is happy.
04:20But the most important thing is that he is happy.
