00:00sources telling Ian Rappaport over at NFL Network that the
00:03Patriots are planning to start quarterback Drake May this
00:06Sunday when they take on the Houston Texans. Jacoby Brissette
00:09after five games is heading to the bench. So, it'll be Drake
00:13May now joining Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels, and Bo Nix as
00:18the fourth rookie quarterback to start this season. Uh right
00:22now, the betting market, we have seen money coming in a
00:24little bit. I believe that over is getting bet so far in this
00:27game. Yeah, it was thirty-seven and a half a little bit earlier
00:29today. Now, thirty-eight, thirty-seven and a half is still
00:32the consensus but there's some thirty-eights out there in the
00:34market at a number of places. The side still holding steady
00:37at seven. I think that this is probably the proper number for
00:40the side. If anything, I would anticipate that the betting
00:43market maybe fades Drake May a little bit cuz usually the
00:46rookie quarterback making their first start, they go ahead and
00:49fade that player but uh the news, Drake May will be the
00:52starter for the New England Patriots. Um I'm curious to see
00:55just how this goes because Drake May is actually a really
00:59really good athlete and the New England Patriots need a
01:01quarterback who's a really really good athlete when you
01:04look at what they're doing on their offensive line. Now, the
01:06team is expected to be probably the worst team in the league
01:08and maybe Drake May goes out there and struggles but if May
01:11were ever good, like let's say that Drake May doesn't have to
01:13be what Jaden Daniels was doing in Washington but let's just
01:16say that Drake May is like, I don't know, on par with Caleb
01:19Williams like playing good football. If that's what it's
01:22gonna look like for the Patriots in a division that right now
01:25is a little bit in flux. I'm not making the case for this
01:29one. I wanna think about it. I wanna see what Sunday looks
01:31like but I tell you what, the AFC East is still wide open and
01:36crazier things have happened in the NFL and I just would not
01:40put it past New England Patriots that if Drake May takes
01:43them to another level that they could potentially win the
01:46AFC East cuz if you break it down, it's real simple. Like
01:48we've been talking about this all hour and Nick's about to
01:51talk gonna talk about it to coming up a little bit later to
01:53start his hour but Robert Sala no longer the head coach of
01:56the Jets. The Jets clearly in flux. The Miami Dolphins. Did
02:00anybody look about what the hell they were doing on Sunday
02:02against the Patriots? Miami was begging to lose that game.
02:04They don't have a special teams unit. They're completely
02:07atrocious. Mike McDaniel just looks like he's just gazing
02:09into outer space when he's on the sidelines. Like I don't
02:12know what's happening in Miami. So the Dolphins are also in
02:15flux. The Buffalo Bills have no passing game in a 60-minute
02:19football game. Josh Allen went nine of thirty. The Bills
02:23offense at least right now, not saying it can't improve but
02:26at least right now, the Bills offense has been figured out.
02:29People have caught on to what they were doing in the first
02:31few weeks of the regular season. So, I'm not saying to
02:35go out there and make a bet right now. I'm not advocating
02:38for the New England Patriots to win the division. I'm just
02:40talking this out in real time when I see this news that
02:43Drake May is now gonna start. If Drake May is as good as
02:46some people believe he is, maybe this does raise the
02:49ceiling for the New England Patriots and maybe just maybe
02:52they could be a team that goes from worst to first cuz we
02:54see it every year. The commanders look like they wanna
02:57be that team this season. Could the Patriots perhaps join
03:00them and what would that look like and what would it mean
03:02for other markets? I think it's a really really fascinating
03:05conversation. You know what I mean? Like my brain goes to
03:08the awards markets. I don't think Drake May can win
03:10offensive rookie of the year. Like that ship has sailed.
03:12He's missed too many games. Like five games that you're
03:14on the sideline for. You're just not gonna win it and also
03:16Jade Dales might be the MVP of the league. So like I think
03:19Jade Dales at least right now has that on lock but there
03:21are other award markets like coach of the year for Gerard
03:25Mayo. The bar for him to clear not that high for them to
03:29win the coach of the year award. Like the Patriots won
03:31three games last year. If he goes and wins nine or ten
03:34games which sounds absolutely far-fetched. I understand
03:38but let's just kinda play it out with a quarterback like
03:41Drake May. A lot of people thought he was a big time
03:43prospect. He was in Heisman discussions last year. If he
03:46elevates them and gives them much better play with the
03:49defense that they do have cuz like they actually do play
03:51really good defense with that defense. Maybe the New
03:54England Patriots can be kind of a surprise team as we head
03:56into the October and November months of this NFL football
03:59season. So just something to keep in mind. Not something
04:01to go out there and run out and bet but something to keep
04:03in mind with Drake May now as your starter at quarterback
04:06for the New England Patriots. Obviously the news of the day.
