00:00It's been over 12 months since the Galaxy S23 was officially launched, so I think it's
00:06a very good time to re-review it, to make an updated review on this phone to find out
00:12if right now in 2024, it is still a viable and usable phone.
00:17As always, we're going to start by talking a little bit about the exterior design, which
00:22as you can see, is quite similar to the previous model, to the S22, with only a few small shape
00:28differences on the side edges to make it more ergonomic.
00:31I've already said this many many times, and I will say it again.
00:35Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful designs that Samsung has ever created for
00:41one of their phones.
00:43And it is also the perfect size, because at 6.1 inches, which funny enough is the exact
00:48same size of the new iPhone 15s and 14s, it is super comfortable to hold with one and
00:54two hands.
00:55It fits in your pocket, it is not too heavy, it just feels like the right phone size to
01:00use.
01:01And this is something a lot of people don't think of when they buy their new phones.
01:04They just buy the bigger, better phone because it has better battery life or better cameras,
01:09but you're going to use this phone in the street.
01:11You're going to need to fit it in your pocket.
01:14So if you have small hands and you move around a lot, you may want to go for a more ergonomic
01:19and easy to use phone, because maybe you get a little bit less battery life.
01:23But the idea of having to take an S23 Ultra out of my pocket in the middle of the street
01:29and having to use it with one hand, it would just be an awful experience and it would probably
01:34drop on the floor, break.
01:36Think of this because maybe the smaller phone is a better option for you.
01:40But anyways, in terms of the internal components, it obviously has the best of the best of 2023,
01:46which in this case is the Snapdragon 8 Generation 2 optimized for Samsung.
01:52Pay close attention, my friends.
01:54This is not the normal Snapdragon 8 Generation 2 like on the rest of the high-end phones
01:59from Android.
02:00It has a version of this processor that's been customized to get the most out of the
02:04S23.
02:05So, of course, it is as fast as it gets in the Android game.
02:10There's no app that doesn't open instantaneously.
02:13There's no game that can be played at maximum settings.
02:15I would even say it has spare performance right now.
02:18I can't really take advantage of the full capacity of this processor, which may seem
02:23a little stupid, but it's not because, for example, iPhones now can play console-level
02:29games, and very soon you will be able to do the same thing on Android phones.
02:32So thanks to having this spare performance, you will be able to play these games on the
02:37S23 without having to spend another pile of money on a new phone, which, by the way, speaking
02:44of spending piles of money, I need to tell you, I feel obligated to tell you that right
02:50now the S23 has a very good price on Amazon.
02:54I left a direct link in the description, and I heavily recommend that at the end of the
02:58video you go check it out.
03:00Right now it has like a $400 or $500 discount as opposed to the original price, so if you
03:05are thinking about buying this phone or you're interested, remember to click the link.
03:10But anyways, let's move on.
03:11Let's talk about the battery life on this phone, which is another very strong component.
03:17As you can see, it has more juice than the S22 and than the S21, which were already incredibly
03:23good in terms of battery life.
03:25More specifically, it is going to give you around 8 hours of use, depending on the things
03:29you do with it, which I believe is more than enough for the majority of people watching
03:33this, unless you spend the entire day outside of the house and you spend the entire day
03:39using the phone.
03:40And finally, it is time to talk about the display, another very strong component on
03:45this phone, because in this case, it has everything.
03:49And everything is everything, a 120Hz LTPO panel that varies the refresh rate for maximum
03:56fluidity on top of a top-tier OLED display with 1750 nits of brightness and extremely
04:02thin bezels.
04:03I have to say though, one of the quote-unquote downsides of this phone is that it doesn't
04:08have a 1440p panel like the S23 Ultra.
04:13And I say quote-unquote downside because after trying the S23 Ultra and the S23 normal phone
04:20and having them side-by-side, comparing the displays, I can confirm that the difference
04:25between 1080 and 1440 on a phone is impossible to distinguish to the naked eye.
04:32The only way to notice the difference between them is if you use some kind of magnifying
04:37glass, which is not the way you normally use your phone.
04:41And also, having a 1440p display drains a lot more battery than having a 1080p display,
04:46so I wouldn't really call it a feature or an improvement over the normal S23 with the
04:53normal 1080p display.
04:54But anyways, it's time to talk about the most important component on this phone, the cameras.
05:00As you can see, right now I'm recording with the main camera on the S23, and it looks incredible.
05:06Look at this, we get a natural bokeh effect, we get a lot of dynamic range, we get very
05:10sharp video with great colors, it looks almost as good as my professional APS-C camera that
05:16I use to shoot most of my videos, which is crazy.
05:20More specifically, we get three cameras on the back of the S23.
05:23We get a 50 megapixel main sensor, which is the one you're seeing right now, and then
05:28we get two other cameras, a 10 megapixel zoom and a 12 megapixel ultra-wide.
05:33As always, I'm going to leave you with another minute of photos from all the cameras, zooming
05:37in so you can see the little details, because I know most of you are pixel peepers who like
05:42to appreciate those little details and factors, and then I'll come back to give you my conclusions
05:47and talk about the selfie camera.
07:03Alright, well, those were the photos from all the cameras, and as I said earlier, the
07:24quality is through the roof, especially on the main camera, wow!
07:28The natural bokeh, the colors, the detail, I mean, not to undermine the other cameras,
07:33but the main sensor on this phone is like, I never thought I would see a phone with such
07:38good video and photo quality, and that applies to the selfie camera too.
07:42As you can see, I'm recording with it right now at 4K, 30 FPS, and wow!
07:47Look at the dynamic range, you can see the clouds and my face at the same time, there's
07:51a lot of detail.
07:524K video recording, you can see the little hairs on my nose.
07:56I mean, it's a phone, so if you're into photos, you're into videos, and you were wondering,
08:03oh, maybe the S23 is not good enough, it is good enough, brother, it is very good.
08:09So conclusion, is the S23 worth it in 2024?
08:14Yes, it is very worth it.
08:17It is offering most of the features you can find on the new S24 for almost half the price.
08:24So, in terms of bang for the buck, it is as good as it gets right now.
08:28As I said earlier, you have a link in the description that's going to send you to Amazon
08:32to the best price you can find on the S23, and if you're interested, I mean, I recommend
08:37you buy it, because for what it is, for what it offers, and for what it costs, it is great.
08:43It is a very good offer.
