00:00Samsung Galaxy S23 in 2024.
00:04In this video, we're going to find out if after 12 months, this is still a viable and
00:10usable phone.
00:11As always, we're going to start by talking a little bit about the exterior design, which
00:15as you can see, is quite similar to the previous model, to the S22, with only a few small shape
00:22differences on the side edges to make it more ergonomic.
00:25I've already said this many, many times and I will say it again, without a doubt, this
00:30is one of the most beautiful designs that Samsung has ever created for one of their
00:36phones.
00:37And it is also the perfect size because at 6.1 inches, which funny enough is the exact
00:42same size of the new iPhone 15s and 14s, it is super comfortable to hold with one and
00:48two hands.
00:49It fits in your pocket, it is not too heavy, it just feels like the right phone size to
00:54use.
00:55This is something a lot of people don't think of when they buy their new phones.
00:58They just buy the bigger, better phone because it has better battery life or better cameras,
01:03but you're going to use this phone in the street.
01:05You're going to need to fit it in your pocket.
01:07So if you have small hands and you move around a lot, you may want to go for a more ergonomic
01:13and easy to use phone because maybe you get a little bit less battery life.
01:17But the idea of having to take an S23 Ultra out of my pocket in the middle of the street
01:23and having to use it with one hand, it would just be an awful experience and it would probably
01:28drop on the floor, break.
01:30Think of this because maybe the smaller phone is a better option for you.
01:34But anyways, in terms of the internal components, it obviously has the best of the best of 2023,
01:40which in this case is the Snapdragon 8 Generation 2 optimized for Samsung.
01:46Pay close attention my friends, this is not the normal Snapdragon 8 Generation 2 like
01:51on the rest of the high end phones from Android.
01:54It has a version of this processor that's been customized to get the most out of the
01:58S23.
01:59So, of course, it is as fast as it gets in the Android game.
02:04There's no app that doesn't open instantaneously.
02:07There's no game that can be played at maximum settings.
02:09I would even say it has spare performance right now.
02:12You can't really take advantage of the full capacity of this processor, which may seem
02:17a little stupid, but it's not because for example, iPhones now can play console level
02:22games and very soon you will be able to do the same thing on Android phones.
02:26So thanks to having this spare performance, you will be able to play these games on the
02:30S23 without having to spend another pile of money on a new phone, which by the way, speaking

03:05Let's talk about the battery life on this phone, which is another very strong component.
03:11As you can see, it has more juice than the S22 and that the S21, which were already incredibly
03:17good in terms of battery life.
03:19More specifically, it is going to give you around eight hours of use depending on the
03:23things you do with it, which I believe is more than enough for the majority of people
03:27watching this, unless you spend the entire day outside of the house and you spend the
03:32entire day using the phone.
03:34And finally, it is time to talk about the display, another very strong component on
03:39this phone, because in this case, it has everything and everything is everything.
03:46120 Hertz LTPO panel that varies the refresh rate for maximum fluidity on top of a top
03:52tier OLED display with 1,750 nits of brightness and extremely thin vessels.
03:57I have to say though, one of the quote unquote downsides of this phone is that it doesn't
04:02have a 1440P panel like the S23 Ultra.
04:07And I say quote unquote downside because after trying the S23 Ultra and the S23 normal
04:14phone and having them side by side, comparing the displays, I can confirm that the difference
04:19between 1080 and 1440 on a phone is impossible to distinguish to the naked eye.
04:26The only way to notice the difference between them is if you use some kind of magnifying
04:30glass, which is not the way you normally use your phone.
04:35And also having a 1440P display drains a lot more battery than having a 1080P display.
04:40So I wouldn't really call it a feature or an improvement over the normal S23 with the
04:47normal 1080P display.
04:48But anyways, it's time to talk about the most important component on this phone, the cameras.
04:54As you can see right now, I'm recording with the main camera on the S23 and it looks incredible.
05:00Look at this.
05:01We get a natural bokeh effect.
05:02We get a lot of dynamic range.
05:04We get very sharp video with great colors.
05:07It looks almost as good as my professional APS-C camera that I use to shoot most of my
05:11videos, which is crazy.
05:14More specifically, we get three cameras on the back of the S23.
05:17We get a 50 megapixel main sensor, which is the one you're seeing right now.
05:22And then we get two other cameras, a 10 megapixel zoom and a 12 megapixel ultra wide.
05:27As always, I'm going to leave you with another minute of photos from all the cameras, zooming
05:31in so you can see the little details because I know most of you are pixel peepers who like
05:35to appreciate those little details and factors.
05:39And then I'll come back to give you my conclusions and talk about the selfie camera.

07:16And as I said earlier, the quality is through the roof, especially on the main camera.

07:25I mean, not to undermine the other cameras, but the main sensor on this phone is like

07:40And wow, look at the dynamic range.
07:43You can see the clouds and my face at the same time.
07:45There's a lot of detail.

07:50I mean, it's it's a phone.
07:54So if you're into photos, you're into videos and you were wondering, oh, maybe the S23
07:59is not good enough.
08:00It is good enough, brother.
08:01It is very good.
08:03So conclusion, is the S23 worth it in 2024?
08:08Yes, it is very worth it.
08:11It is offering most of the features you can find on the new S24 for almost half the price.
08:18So in terms of bang for the buck, it is as good as it gets right now.
