00:00She was someone, the doctor, she understood because not many people understood.
00:08Children with ADHD have huge qualities and there's a hugely positive aspect to ADHD.
00:16These children are full of life, full of energy. They have lots of good ideas.
00:21The referral was difficult because that was at a later point to get diagnosed, especially going into high school.
00:32So going throughout the entire primary school with no additional support or anything and then going into high school, it was challenging.
00:42It was very difficult and hard.
00:44What it was there for and why I was needing help compared to the other students because I hadn't had it, if you know what I mean.
00:50So high school was a really difficult period of time, especially with having ADHD.
00:56I think raising awareness of ADHD is very important.
01:00It is 5% of school age children will have ADHD symptoms.
01:07We know that early recognition and diagnosis is so important.
01:11The outcome in terms of recognition and treatment management can be so important for children along all aspects of their life.
01:19Really for them to be able to achieve their potential.
01:22I think it's so important. I don't think ADHD or anyone with additional needs get recognition enough.
