00:00Hello there and welcome to your weekend weather. It's coming up towards the end of the week,
00:05also the end of January, but are we going to see any sunshine as we head towards the
00:10new month? Well, let's take a look. Starting off by having a look at the bigger picture,
00:14we can see this trailing frontal system, fairly weak feature just to the west of the UK. That's
00:19what brought us the heavy rain Thursday night through into Friday. But as high pressure
00:23builds, that largely fizzles away. It's still going to leave a fair amount of cloud behind
00:28it though. And then we almost see a bit of a split between the wet and windy weather to the
00:32northwest, then something slightly more settled across the south and southeast. Now overnight,
00:38we're likely to see some clearer skies, so that means it's going to be awfully chilly across parts
00:42of Wales, the southwest, also northeastern parts of Scotland and England could see quite a chilly
00:46start to the day, likely to see some patches of frost. But elsewhere, it's going to be largely
00:51cloudy, often quite grey to start the morning, even some drizzle at times, particularly across
00:55the southeast and around any hilly areas. Now, the good news is it is going to brighten up
01:00through the course of the day. Sunshine is going to break through that cloud, leaving some spells
01:04of sunshine for most of us. And on the whole, it's going to be a largely dry day, slightly
01:09different story across the northwest, though much breezier here, strong winds at times, even if not
01:14some gales across the far northwest of Scotland and also this frontal system trying to edge its
01:19way in, bringing in some outbreaks of rain for western parts of Northern Ireland, perhaps even
01:23western parts of Scotland towards the end of the day. It is going to start to turn slightly
01:28milder here, though, as that rain starts to edge its way in. But elsewhere, temperatures round about
01:33where they should be for the beginning of February. Then overnight, this frontal system out to the
01:39west, it does try to edge its way in, battling up against the high pressure towards the southeast,
01:44becoming largely confined to a western spot by the time we reach Sunday morning. So here,
01:48it's going to be quite a cloudy and wet start. But elsewhere, particularly under any clear spells,
01:53it's going to be rather chilly. But still, once again, there's probably going to be a fair amount
01:56of cloud across the southeast, perhaps even some fog at times. Now, this frontal system,
02:00it doesn't really edge its way too far inland. It becomes mainly a stalled feature, but it does
02:05largely weaken. So most of the rain petering out by the time we reach the afternoon. But it is going
02:10to often be rather cloudy here and grey, quite a breezy start to the beginning of the day, though
02:16those winds should start to ease by the time we reach the afternoon. The best of the brightness
02:20likely across the far southeast. So parts of East Anglia, Sussex and Kent should start to
02:25see some sunshine and it should also start to brighten up across Northern Ireland and parts
02:29of Scotland. Temperatures, once again, around about average for the time of year. Highs of
02:35around eight to nine Celsius down across the southwest. Then as we head into the new working
02:42week, once again, that frontal system will fizzle away and then we start to see once again that
02:47northwest southeast split, some wet and windy weather just pushing in to the far northwest of
02:52Scotland, western parts of Northern Ireland, but across much of central and southern UK,
02:56high pressure largely dominating, which means it should be largely settled. Now, if you do have any
03:02questions around this weekend's weather or the weather as we head into next week, you can leave
03:07them in the comments and we'll try to answer them on YouTube this Friday at 12.15 during our weather
03:12studio live. Otherwise, that's it from me. Bye-bye.
