00:00For people with diabetes in Italy today there are about 4 million, so a lot, of course technology
00:11in all its forms is a great help to ensure that the person with diabetes lives a life
00:17as equal as possible to that of people without diabetes.
00:21Among these we also include, for example, the most modern continuous monitoring systems
00:28but we also include all those possibilities of telematics networks
00:34that connect the person with diabetes and the operators around it
00:40so that the assistance is as integrated as possible.
00:44As EUDF Italy, we have submitted to the candidates of the European Parliament
00:51who were then elected, a commitment document.
00:54A commitment document because it brought to Europe the necessary policies
00:59to deal with what is a health emergency in Italy, as in Europe,
01:05a disease with a huge social and economic weight.
01:10This document, among other things, has a call in the centre, a call for equity in care
01:19so that all people with diabetes can have access to the most modern and best care in an equitable way.
01:29This is a problem also in Italy, where we have huge disparities in treatment in different regions.
01:36It is different if I was born in Crotone or in Crevalcore.
01:40It is not necessarily better to be born in Crevalcore, but it is different and it needs to be the same.
01:46An example for everyone.
01:48People who treat themselves with insulin need to monitor very frequently,
01:54possibly continuously, their glycemia.
01:59Only in a few regions of Italy, the devices for the continuous measurement of glycemia,
02:05the sensors, are available for free to all people who treat themselves with insulin.
02:12And this is something that must be overcome.
