00:00Very direct, very good by Tom Ricketts to do that and address
00:03fans in that way. Even better, even more telling to me in the
00:08Tribune this morning, he did an interview with Megan Montemuro
00:13and he said it was maybe the toughest season that he's
00:16endured in 15 seasons of owning the team and more significantly,
00:21I think what people wonder is that when asked about the
00:25contract extension possibility for Jed Hoyer, who's entering
00:28the final year of his deal and what that means for this
00:31offseason, Tom did not necessarily say that an
00:34extension was coming. He basically said that he's under
00:38contract. That's the way I see it. I think he's motivated. I
00:42know he's driven like everyone else here. He works really hard.
00:45I think Jed's going to have a great offseason and put us back
00:47in the playoffs next year. That is in this morning's Chicago
00:50Tribune, Chicago Tribune.com. He also leaves open the
00:54possibility of going over the CBT tax, the CBT competitive
00:59balance tax if they are going to spend this offseason but
01:06it's not a commitment necessarily. He's going to play
01:09it by ear. We'll see the Cubs. If this postseason tells you
01:12anything, they lack stars. They lack a star. You have as you
01:17see teams that are winning with the Detroit Tigers as the
01:22exception. The Mets are winning because their stars are coming
01:25through. Who are the Cubs stars? So Tom Ricketts in a direct
01:30address to fans, not sugarcoating it like what I
01:32heard.
