00:00G'day, I'm Paul. Today I'm going to take you through a really detailed look at Jaguar InControl Touch Pro.
00:05That's the infotainment system you'll find in cars like the F-Pace, previous generations of the XC and other Jaguar models.
00:11It is a fully featured system. We'll go through each of the menus and then I'll also take you through Jaguar Remote and also the
00:18screen in front of the driver that gives you additional displays and also trip computer functions.
00:23Let's kick things off over here. It's a 10-inch screen. It's a touchscreen as well.
00:27All of your interaction is done on the touchscreen. There's no center iDrive style dials.
00:32Let's go through the navigation menu and this is where it gets a little bit confusing here.
00:37So you have navigation like any other car. That works fairly well. Where it doesn't work well is on cold starts.
00:43So when you first turn the car on, after you directly hop into it,
00:46you can't really put any addresses in because it takes a while to boot up.
00:49So that's a little bit frustrating and sometimes a bit laggy when it wants to be, but then other times like right now,
00:54it's fine. It's all working nice and quickly. So a little bit confusing. Traffic overlays.
00:59Yes, it has traffic overlays, except you have to be paired to your phone through Wi-Fi,
01:03which is what I've done now, or alternatively in the center console here, get another SIM card.
01:08So the car already has a SIM card for the remote services,
01:11but you then need to buy your own data SIM card to get things like traffic and to use the embedded app.
01:17So it's a little bit confusing that you have to have two data SIMs on the go.
01:20But from there, it's very straightforward to put addresses in and you can go through looking for points of interest.
01:26You can put your home address in. So it is fully functional.
01:29It is just a little bit clumsy in terms of the way that it works.
01:32Embedded into the system as well is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
01:35We don't have an Android phone, but I do have an Apple phone. So I'll show you what that looks like.
01:38It's a widescreen setup. Works pretty well. It's just not super high resolution, which is weird.
01:43I would have expected some of this stuff to be a little bit sharper, but outside of that,
01:46it's just your standard Apple CarPlay integration and all works really easily. To get back to the Jaguar menu,
01:52you just press Jaguar. It takes you back to the native inbuilt system. In the media menu,
01:56that's where you're going to find all the connectivity options for the radio.
01:59The car doesn't come standard with DAB plus digital radio. You have to option that on most Jaguars, which is kind of strange.
02:05But it does come with FM, AM and then DAB plus when you do option it. You access it through here.
02:10The sessions are easy to find and the good thing is they're easy to set as favorites as well.
02:15So as you scroll through here, if you want a favorite, you just hit that and then it puts it into your favorites list.
02:19So it's very easy to navigate there, find your favorites and then also call them up on your heads-up display as well.
02:24Swipe across here and you get access to the rest of the menus.
02:27So eco data is simply the economy impact you've had on your previous driving.
02:32We've been a little bit naughty having a lizard to the exhaust and stuff like that.
02:35So just pretend these numbers are better than they are, but they're all above 15 litres per 100 kilometres.
02:41You then also have access to a web browser built into the screen. It's not the best thing in the world.
02:46It's a little bit slow and can be cumbersome at times. Let's try visiting
02:51the best car website in the world.
02:56See how long that takes to load.
03:02Okay, there it is there. We'll try scrolling now as well.
03:05You see it's a bit laggy and kind of displays weirdly as well.
03:09It's adopted half a mobile format and half a desktop format. So not a huge fan of that.
03:14I don't know why they bother integrating web browsers when they don't actually look that good.
03:18This I find fascinating. There's a flight tracker
03:22randomly built into this. So let's give this a shot. We'll see what this looks like.
03:27So we'll go here and go by routes from...
03:31Let's just go Melbourne.
03:33M-E-L. It's looking for Melbourne now.
03:36To Sydney, S-Y-D.
03:40Finding airport. Okay, so let's find the flights for today.
03:45Okay, there it is there. See this flight arrived late. There you go. Some fascinating information.
03:49And then weather of course, which is very handy to know
03:53what the weather is going to be like where you're going or even where you are right now.
03:56So you can see here that it is as the screen crashes a little bit. Okay, that's not great.
04:01So you can see stuff like this.
04:03Clearly, they've integrated all of these things, but then it randomly crashes every now and then,
04:07which kind of doesn't fit you with confidence in the way that it works.
04:10You can option ambient lighting. So this car comes with the LED configurable lighting.
04:15And in here is where you change all the colors, the brightness and when it comes on and off.
04:20But Dynamic Eye is specific to SVR cars.
04:23And you can see when it is in dynamic mode, if I flick that across,
04:27you can configure exactly what the car is doing in terms of the suspension, the engine,
04:31the exhaust note. They've also got a lap timer.
04:36You have a G meter built in and then a throttle position sensor as well.
04:40So as you press the throttle harder, that goes up and down.
04:43That's handy information if you ever do take the car to a racetrack.
04:46And finally, you have the ASI suite. This is for off-road driving.
04:50You're not going to be doing a whole lot of off-road driving in this car as the screen crashes again.
04:57Okay, excellent. So the screen has now crashed.
05:01Hello?
05:11Oh, screen's back, I hope.
05:15Okay, yay, the screen's back.
05:17Okay, so I just disconnected the phone and it's now kind of working a little bit better.
05:21So I don't know, maybe there's some compatibility issue there with Apple CarPlay
05:25and the way that it talks to the screen.
05:27Anyway, where I was before it crashed was the off-roading screen.
05:30If you do decide to do some off-roading in this car, even though you won't,
05:33this is where you're going to find information about the surface you're driving on
05:37with some handy camera angles here to show you what's going on around the car.
05:41And then finally, you'll also find the low friction launch,
05:43which is just a feature that gives you a little bit of extra slip as the car takes off,
05:48but then won't overcome the wheels with torque,
05:50which will cause it to spin and do silly stuff.
05:52So I'm going to show you the 360 camera,
05:54but I have to start the car first to show you what it looks like.
05:57So once you press this button, it brings up the 360 camera.
06:00And then when you select reverse, it will adjust the views automatically
06:03to suit what you're going near.
06:05And then you'll see the parking sensors pop up on the side there as well.
06:08But there is a really cool function here I want to show you.
06:10It is the trailer reversing assistant.
06:13So you get yourself set up with a trailer.
06:15Let's just say it's got two axles and it is 250 millimetres wide,
06:2440 millimetres across there.
06:26And then what it says is make sure the car is aligned with the trailer
06:29because what it's now going to ask you to do is put a target on the trailer.
06:33And what this does is allows the car to recognise where the trailer is
06:36so that when you do reverse with it on,
06:38it will automatically reverse the trailer into the parking spot for you
06:42and you won't have to do anything.
06:44Finally, the system comes with voice recognition.
06:46This actually works quite well.
06:48So when I press this button, it comes up with the voice menu
06:51and then it allows me to pick what I want to do.
06:54I can enter full navigation addresses, ask it to call people.
06:57It's quite intuitive and it understands a lot of voices
07:00and a lot of weird phone names as well.
07:02Let's talk about the Jaguar remote application.
07:04This is one of the few applications for these cars that works quite well.
07:08So when you open it up, it presents you with information about the car.
07:12So you can see how much fuel is in there,
07:13the weather at the location where the car is,
07:15the range, the odometer and the status of the car.
07:19So whether the doors are open, windows are closed,
07:21you can remotely lock and unlock the car from here as well.
07:24And then you have a map that shows you where the car is
07:26and directions to your car.
07:27So if you're at a music festival or something,
07:29you can find your way back to the car
07:31if it's in some weird car park or some big field.
07:34On this screen here, you can remotely start the car.
07:36So if you do want to get the climate going,
07:38you can push this button.
07:39It'll send a command to the car and switch it on.
07:41But be careful, don't remotely start your car if it's in a garage
07:45because this has a petrol engine.
07:46It is going to make toxic fumes and it's not good for your lungs.
07:50Next up, you have trip history.
07:52I love this function because it shows you where you've been,
07:55how much fuel you've used in your last journeys,
07:57your maximum speed, your average speed and the efficiency.
08:01Don't look at that bit.
08:04We've used quite a lot of fuel because I love the exhaust sound.
08:07Next up is details about the car,
08:09such as your VIN number, registration number,
08:11the ability to call Jaguar assistance.
08:14And in addition to that, if the car does get stolen
08:16and the alarm gets triggered, they can call you as well,
08:18track the car remotely and switch it off remotely.
08:21So this is a fully featured app and you can get it with most Jaguars,
08:25which is awesome.
08:26Finally, let's have a look at the screen in front of the driver.
08:28It's a little over 12 inches in size, all LCD.
08:31You don't have any more analogue gauges.
08:33It moves fairly quickly as you're driving,
08:34so the rev counter goes up fast.
08:36In the older car, the XJ, it was a little bit laggy,
08:39so it wouldn't keep up with everything that was going on.
08:42You can fully configure everything on there.
08:44I'll show you what the screen looks like when you change into dynamic mode.
08:47You can see how it goes all red as soon as that happens.
08:50And then you can completely take over the screen
08:53and change where the elements of it sit.
08:54So at the moment, we have the map in the centre there.
08:58I can change it to show the radio station that we're listening to.
09:01So I'll jump out of that.
09:02Or you can actually change the entire look of that panel
09:06by going down to layout and then changing to a one dial setup,
09:10which moves everything like this,
09:11or to a full map, which I think is pretty full on.
09:15I prefer the two dial layout.
09:17And then finally, you also have the ability to configure
09:19the rest of the car's settings, such as security features,
09:21how long the lights stay on outside, convenience features inside the cabin,
09:26everything including reverse dipping for the mirrors,
09:30whether the windows all open at the same time when you hold unlock,
09:33what action you have for the gear shift paddles.
09:35It all works really well.
09:36The only thing I don't like is just how cheap these buttons feel
09:39as you move through them.
09:41If you found this useful, please hit the like button.
09:43Also press subscribe and also the bell icon
