00:00She's been very focused all week, you get the sense that she's enjoyed being on this stage it's a fight
00:14that's been brewing for quite some time they both had a lot of time to prepare for it they understand
00:20the history the significance but all the fat melts away when that opening bell rings and now let's
00:27welcome to the ring the undefeated defending world champion future undisputed sky nicholson
00:57sky nicholson the reigning defending wbc featherweight champion the way she sees it that belt
01:14is just the first step on the road the first of many that she will be collecting
01:20since the press conference a couple of weeks before fight week she decided to give herself
01:30the nickname future undisputed she's been talking a big game about how she's going to go down as one
01:36of the best female fighters of all time tasha jonas joined us on commentary for this one
01:41tasha i find that really interesting the way she's chosen to put that pressure on herself
01:48yeah i mean it's different it's nice to have that confidence in yourself but obviously she's a few
01:54fights away from that so you don't want to kind of jinx things by putting extra pressure on
01:58yourself making big statements like that sometimes they come back to bite you well we will see
02:06she certainly enjoyed that ring walk
02:08she's been dominant in her fight so far she is a slick stylist a very good technician

05:34live scoring available on this fight there's a qr code give that a scan
05:39get yourselves involved 10 two minute rounds here for the wbc featherweight title
05:45which is in the possession of sky nicholson she is in the blue raven chapman
05:49in the black chapman setting up in that orthodox stands nicholson a southpaw and
05:56she uses that lead hand really really well she's got a good reach on her and chapman has got to get
06:03inside that jab she has to find a way past that jab or she will go the way of other opponents
06:10that have come up against nicholson she uses it very effectively buries it up
06:18we'll hang on that back foot already champions get close to her she's bobbing and weaving coming
06:24underneath staying low and a good shot there against nicholson
06:35i say this all the time but i think when it's a southpaw of earth is an orthodox
06:38we're used to the orthodox so she's quite comfortable just leaning back
06:42looking like she's in range but she's actually not
06:45raven's doing well by trying to trigger her to throw a shot to get in to quickly get in
06:54you can see the way nicholson there just hangs on that back foot she's got quite a wide stance which
07:00adds to what tasha was saying there good single shot with the
07:03left hand there for nicholson as chapman looked to try and come forward
07:08slipped under the jab nicely there chapman couldn't follow up on it
07:15raven's not particularly tall but she has gotten very long levers so she's got to keep keep that
07:20head movement going maybe caught go and go again or do what she's doing which is trying to faint
07:26draw something on and quickly shut the space down
07:29draw something on and quickly shut the space down
07:36final 10 seconds around one not very much in this opener at all
07:39very little has been landed clean by either fighter
07:44so we're going to miss the boat of the ride at the end there
07:47fight night brought to you by that prize guy is cancer winning cancer research won't let him
08:02we made radiotherapy possible so cancer couldn't stop his big day we studied jimma dna to find
08:10better treatments so she can see her girls grow up we're finding new ways to outsmart cancer
08:17so more people can hear it's gone together we are beating cancer
08:24so
08:34that's the nicholson corner eddie lander leading it
08:40he trains out of that i-box gym down in south london bradley skeet
08:44involved as well just looking on over the road set for chapman is stuart scott
08:50so into the second
09:06i think the first the first round's always a bit nervy everyone's trying to work out the distance
09:11work out the shots work out your reactions well you should see it open up a little bit more in
09:15these next few
09:33low
09:45a little bit too far out so it hasn't really managed to work her into range part of that
09:52is due to the to the reach of nicholson that's better for chapman she got into range i couldn't
09:57quite let her hands go she's got to try and slip that jab as she's moving forward which is a
10:06difficult thing to do yeah well she's bobbing and weaving she's so she's she's not a stationary not
10:11a static target and also with the head movement she's triggering something from trying to lure the
10:16lead of nicholson and once the lead comes then she can get inside or underneath it and then come
10:21quickly close the distance with her feet but she doesn't want to lunge from too far out she'll get
10:25picked off so she's really trying to be an aggressive counter puncher once nicholson to lead off
10:32nicholson let go with the left hand there but again i think it was just slightly
10:36short neither one of these two have really found their range yet through the opening
10:42two rounds i'm not sure which way you would go with these if you
10:44were the judges at ringside because not much has landed
10:59that's the scene of the kingdom arena and we're all set for what should be an absolutely
11:04spectacular fight on top of the bill also better bm against dmitry bivol for all of the belts
11:10at light heavyweight we had the same scenario with fury and utic of course earlier in the year but
11:15something that's entertained me about this mat is watching these two this week we talked about it
11:19right at the top of the show unlike fury and also utic because they're these big kind of otherworldly
11:24men these are two guys who if you walk past them in the street would look like normal people but
11:30they are not normal people anything but you know the two best light heavyweights in the world
11:36probably by far these are number one and two and tonight we're going to find out who's number one
11:40tasha what are your thoughts on the main event i've not spoken to you about it this week actually
11:45i'm back and forth about 15 million times and every time i talk about one i think like that's
11:51definitely who i'm gonna pick i change it and it makes a case for the other one so i'm still
11:56unsure sitting on the fence again of course of course i don't want to be wrong again
12:02so it's the third round sky nicholson the wbc featherweight champion in the blue
12:07raven chapman the challenger in the black
12:15i think raven's doing the right thing coming over because sky keeps that
12:18that lead hand really low that was good backhand
12:22the chat got close there and through that short right hand that did manage to find the target
12:26nicholson had pulled onto that back foot but couldn't quite pull out of range
12:32chapman again just gets closer and wants to try and work to the body nicholson's trying to walk
12:37her onto that left hand but she hasn't managed to time it and i think that's because chapman's
12:41head movement and bearing the pressure that was good shot there she pulled it up but that's the
12:45shot she's looking for commentators care stabbing or rolls he's a sweet left hand though as you say
12:51perfectly found the distance on it
12:57you can see there yeah she's trying to almost go with the lead hand trying to walk her onto
13:01lunging and then she's going to meet her with the backhand but uh so chapman's got to be careful
13:06with that she's got to use the fangs use the head movement don't become predictable
13:14it's been an interesting round this chapman probably had the better of the first minute
13:17but nicholson has picked some really good punches in the second minute and maybe just beginning to
13:22find that rhythm hooking on the way out again there maybe a little bit slappy but it landed
13:28yeah and also the the constant head movement the constantly twisting changing resetting that's that
13:34takes a lot of energy that will take a lot of energy out of chapman so as we the rounds press
13:38on that starts to dwindle a little bit chapman might find it even easier then to time her
13:43so the end of the third coming up after this we've got chris eubank jr
13:57getting his hands wrapped there by ian gatt he goes up against camille gerometta at middleweight
14:05happy to put footage up on social media yesterday matter of how difficult it was to
14:10make the weight i was there at the lunchtime weigh-in he arrived a little bit later than
14:14everybody else nothing scandalous but he had his boxing boots on so i could tell that he'd
14:18been working right up until the last minute i don't think it's any secret that he's tight
14:22at the weight the middleweight limit i think that's a well-known fact so why hide it just
14:28it just sort of confirms it that you know and then it bothers you then he's pretty up front with it
14:33he's a big middleweight
14:39and just signs of the second half of that previous round that nicholson was beginning
14:43to hit that groove and rhythm and that's something that chapman cannot afford to happen
14:53when she goes she's just got to commit if that little bit of hesitation
14:57uh sky i'll be able to see
15:17when chapman does move in and close that gap more often than not she'll tend to lead off with
15:23a right hand which makes it more difficult to reach surely moving in orthodox as she is if she
15:30were trying to get to nicholson it's that lead left that's got the shortest distance to travel
15:36right hand there from chapman but nicholson again is just managing to use that jab effectively
15:40so far this round nice left hand into the body there for nicholson i think what she's doing
15:46raven challenge is almost stepping into a southpaw stance and then leading up with the right jab
15:50and that's what i'm saying about the hesitation raven can sorry sky can see it and she's just
16:03picking it off with the uppercut single shot hooks as she comes in like we're just seeing there
16:08if you're gonna go you've got to kind of do the haggle away and just move in and commit with it
16:15final 30 seconds of round four
16:21so very little in the first couple of rounds rounds three and four have maybe been nicholson
16:27rounds looking for that jab again they're all going to have a good start well in three but
16:32there was a good left hand there again from nicholson she just took that half
16:35step back as chapman was coming in and tagged it with the uppercut
16:39okay let's go backstage and here for a big fraser clark
16:54i love the sport you know i love the sport inside of two men getting in the ring and trying to
16:58outperform each other strip me away take everything away from me you'll never take the love i have for
17:04this sport away from me this is my life this is what i live what i breathe is what i love i can't
17:10wait to hit something i feel raised i can feel it in my blood i can feel it in my bones i'm ready to
17:16go and do a job fraser clark talking to us earlier in the week he's up against fabio wardley and
17:27fabio wardley arriving at the arena he will be walking into a dressing room right next to fraser
17:34clark so put the pair of them next door to each other they'll be able to hear each other warming
17:40up through the wall they'll be able to hear each other's music through the wall it's not something
17:45that you typically see but i think it's something that the pair of them will probably see the
17:51amusing side off they make a good pair outside of the ring and inside the ring back at the end of
17:57march they gave us an extraordinary spectacle into the fifth round here
18:05nicholas are trying to pick that left hand again as she comes in just crouching throwing the right
18:15chapman needs to get in close and throw more than a single single shot she needs to
18:19have a little bit more first and third punches and bunches
18:23when raven's got that space behind her or takes the middle she hops off and takes the middle
18:28she's got all day to be comfortable and get back in the middle and got space to move
18:32there's a nice right hook there from nicholas and just time the lovely and then
18:35kind of spun off with it that's something she does well
18:40throws that right hand as she's moving off to the right
18:46good amateur background of course bronze medal in the
18:49world championships in 2016 that was at light welter
18:53by the tokyo olympics she comes down to featherweight so seven kilos lighter
19:00got to the quarterfinals where she lost to caris artingstall and that's a rematch
19:05we will hopefully see in the pros
19:19raven just needs to dress it up a little bit better there's hardly any jabs that she's thrown
19:23just you know if you're going to step in behind your backhand or throw the big hook dress it up a
19:28little bit first because the sky's now just reading it and picking it off with a single
19:32shot either the hooks or the uppercut that was a better right hand from chapman
19:38found a few seconds of round five and again she got through there she got close enough to make
19:43contact with the right
19:57fight night brought to you by that prize gun
20:13so
20:22all the way
20:39and you can see the nature of the advice i just wanted to keep that upper body on the move
20:46dip those knees get under the jab get up close it's the second half of the fight and halfway
20:50you would say that nicholson has a lead here the chapman has got to stick to the tasks he's got to
20:57believe keep the faith let's just have a look at how you're seeing this at home four rounds to one
21:10in favor of nicholson and splitting those first two rounds that seems kind of fair enough to me
21:15because there wasn't really anything in any of them and i wouldn't argue strenuously with that
21:20i think nicholson has been the better fighter from midway through the third onwards chapman started
21:25that round well but i think the impression the judges would have been left with would have been
21:29the way that nicholson finished it so chapman i think has got work to do in the second half
21:35but she may well have expected that yeah i'd say so i think she knows she's got to force the pace
21:40keep the pressure on nicholson try and get her tired hope she'll make mistakes but
21:44chapman's the one working harder here you know she's the one bouncing and moving and constantly
21:49resetting actually nicholson looks pretty comfortable she's got a very relaxed style
21:59i'm looking for that uppercut into the body i don't think that really landed
22:03she doesn't punch much in combination nicholson but with the method she's got she doesn't really
22:07need to chapman of course would be hoping that she would get close enough that she would force
22:12her to but she's able to keep it on the outside and win the fight with single shots essentially
22:17yeah just try and time her as she comes in with the uppercut with a straight back hand
22:23you see she's using that ring that jab almost like a flick just to try and goad
22:28chapman into coming and then she's going to walk onto the left hand whether that's an uppercut or
22:32a straight left these two minute rounds race by and another one has slipped by here when
22:40nicholson has picked the better punches the punches she throws as well from the outside
22:45they're easy to see for ringside judges the bell goes at the end of the sick
23:01if you probably tally her punches up nicholson she doesn't actually throw that much but they
23:05are very accurate everything she throws almost i'd say like 80 of them land so
23:11that's true actually you look at her punch completion percentage and it is very very high
23:17unusually high around about 40 percent and a lot of the fights of those that i've watched
23:21it as boxing is essentially a high failure rate sport isn't it most of what you throw
23:25won't get there yeah she's very economical she doesn't really throw anything unless she's very
23:29confident to land in it and and like to touch the combinations single shots really
23:35single shots really prided with the lead hand looking to walk them onto the backhand
23:41well ben whittaker we are being informed has left the arena and headed the hospital he has to get
23:46that lower leg injury looked at scanned possibly they need to work out exactly what has happened
23:53there it was an extraordinary incident no harm meant by liam cameron he just leaned onto him
23:58they both disappeared over the top rope and there was really only one outcome at that point once it
24:03became obvious that whittaker couldn't continue it was an accidental foul and it went to the cards
24:08and cameron felt like he'd done enough over the first five rounds it was definitely going to get
24:15extremely interesting in the second half that's for sure but we didn't get to see it it's around
24:21seven here chapman has got to try and do something to knock nicholson out of this
24:27rhythm she just steps in there the australian and let a one-two go
24:33great thing came out at the start of the round and did great things she was just jabbing the
24:37body every sky moves a lot if you jab the body the body's a bit a bit less move i don't want
24:43to say movable but more stationary that's the way i was looking for thanks man
24:50yeah i think with chapman sometimes she's stuck you know she's making a move but she's starting
24:57it for too far out she's she's the faint move there trying to sneak half a yard and then make
25:03the move when she's kind of coming from too far out nicholson can see it take the step back then
25:08she finds herself in no man's land and that's what she's able to picked off
25:12so
25:18these kinds of stylistic matchups are always interesting because the formula is fairly
25:22straightforward challenge they managed to land with the left there as nicholson hooked and moved
25:26off to her right but just because it seems obvious what somebody should do it doesn't mean that it's
25:32easy to do it and it's only once you actually get in there that you'll know the scale of the task
25:41you'll know what the task is you just don't know how hard it'll be and
25:45nicholson does make it very very difficult
25:49chapman had a better round there i thought actually than some of the
25:52ones we've seen just previously she did get tighter did get closer
25:59but the more eye-catching punches probably did come once again from nicholson
26:12that's the body
26:20and as andy mentioned earlier on andy scott it is hot in here because
26:25part of the side of the building has been removed so the night air is flooding in in a way that it
26:32hasn't on other occasions that we have been here so the temperature will be around about mid-20s
26:39high 20s and it's kind of trapped in here too so underneath those lights up in that ring they're
26:44going to be feeling this as the fights go on i think that might be a fact that it's something i
26:52mentioned um to jack on when he came in getting nice and low there onto the inside throwing that
27:04right hand
27:15again there was a nice kind of bob and weave there but he didn't really achieve too much because
27:22it was quite a long way out where she did it and once she finished it she wasn't really
27:25any closer to nicholson than she was when she started that's the
27:30good that's one of the obstacles here as you've outlined in the previous round about
27:37yeah it's it's not really a case of what chapman should be doing that she's not doing it's more a
27:42case of what nicholson's doing well she's just not really allowing her to get the distance she's
27:47moving she's she's making her offset she's offsetting her and she's got to reset again
27:51and try and find the hair to try and get in and try to get close so she can make that move and
27:56then just as she does get a bit static packing she hits her with a left hand down the middle
28:02or up the middle you know she's very good she can she can throw it around the side
28:06she can loop it underneath she can throw it straight there's a good right hand there from
28:10chapman about 20 seconds ago she moved in through it made contact and then just moved onto the
28:16shoulder and kind of shut down her own space a little bit which was slightly unfortunate because
28:20she got into where she needed to be again there just pushing nicholson back into the
28:24ropes and she just has to keep going here chapman just really pour it on
28:28in these remaining couple of rounds and force the issue as much as possible not that she hasn't been
28:32up until this point but it's possible that nicholson will tire
28:39yeah it's been good pressure it's been consistent pressure you'd be hope she'd be certainly be
28:44hoping if you were in chapman's corner at some in around now nicholson will start to slow down
28:50at this pace i honestly don't think that'll happen we saw chris eubank earlier on getting his
28:57hands wrapped and now just working the pads in what is a cavernous backstage area being
29:04trained by jonathan banks for this fight he trained gennady golovkin against camille gerometta
29:11a few years ago a fight that golovkin won when gerometta retired after seven rounds
29:17seven rounds eubank saying that that essentially was one of the main reasons
29:22why they teamed up together it's interesting during the week matt talking to ted the atlas
29:26about the fact that eubank has been through numerous trainers now and he said that for him
29:31it's because he's still trying to find his identity as a fighter yeah trying to find his own style i
29:36guess is what he meant with that as well you know you're constantly changing trainers adjusting
29:41styles every trainer wants to put their prints on you what they think you need to do less of
29:45or what you need to do more of and then you always get caught between styles a
29:49little bit never really find your own so tonight
29:58chapman i think has narrowed the gap a bit in the two rounds that we've just seen
30:03i'm not saying she won those two rounds but they were closer rounds than four and five and six
30:10potentially but she needs to close this out strong she needs to win these last couple
30:16yeah that right hand there that wide long loop right hand got blocked for the gloves but she
30:21landed a couple of those uh in the round previous bang on the chin you've got it comfortably for
30:28nicholson watching on from home a five point margin giving her every round apart from the second
30:35and the eighth which has been scored 10 10 on the scorecard there
30:45a good shot a lovely one outlined by chapman
30:48nicholson took it well that all came off the double jab just if she works behind the jabs
30:54she'll be able to close that space down a little bit and you don't necessarily need it to land
30:59but it just creates the space for the backhand to come across
31:05i think it's possible that the ringside judges might have it slightly tied to them
31:08i'll be able to send it at home but i do think that nicholson is
31:11winning this fight but if chapman could win this round and
31:14win the 10th there have been some close rounds particularly the first two
31:21and even the round before this was a closer round i agree i mean that could that scorecard
31:29that the viewers see that could be accurate but i could also see a couple of rounds closer than
31:33that as well i think i give the first two rounds a draw and the round before um
31:45that's a nice combination there though from nicholson just to close out the round
31:50so one remaining here and this fight for the wbc federal eight title the first
31:57female world title fight of riyadh season
32:02and i think both fighters have really felt the responsibility of that during the course of the
32:07week to say as well but when the bell goes all the back really becomes irrelevant it's something
32:15that you would look back on afterwards but not something you can think about at the time and
32:22there's that right hand that clipped the chin there of nicholson yeah and nicholson come back
32:26with the left hand herself but like tasha said coming in behind the double jab was what created
32:32that even though the jabs didn't really land he just closed the distance and then the right hand
32:36was a good shot obviously nicholson replied with their own
32:47so these two will be called to the center of the ring for a touch of gloves tenth and final round
32:51sky nicholson the defending wbc champion in the blue raven chapman in the black chapman must finish
32:57strong here she's going to need to have taken that previous round she'll leave this one as well
33:13because i thought about throwing the hook and stepping off to the right
33:15hand side in the end didn't really need to
33:23nice left hand there for nicholson found the range with it nicely didn't she
33:28yeah again double jab didn't hit anything on chapman but just jabbing the space
33:33helped to close the distance and then the straight left was a good shot
33:36she's comfortable now she's just having fun in there
33:39she knows that raven needs to come
33:50picking that left hand well there nicholson off the back of
33:54chapman's into the final minute of the contest that was a bit of anything you can do i can do better
34:09so
34:24good left hand there again from nicholson and you get the impression that she could
34:28box at this kind of pace for a good few rounds longer she is difficult to knock out of that
34:34kind of rhythm that she settled into really from round three onwards tries chapman right
34:40and she certainly has tried and it's not that she hasn't had some success but
34:45nicholson hasn't acted and she employs it very very effectively the bell goes at the end of
34:49the fight the break between the two sky nicholson will be confident that she has retained her
34:55title there by our reckoning from where we're sitting that is what has happened it was a good
35:00competitive fight chapman had a plan she tried to employ it all the way through but nicholson
35:07could well be one of these fighters who people look at and they feel like it's kind of obvious
35:14how you beat her you get on top of it you rough her up you make her uncomfortable but it's easier
35:18said than done exactly easy from where we're sitting but when you're in there you've got to
35:22you're the person that has to close the distance and your feet aren't quite quick enough
35:27it's a lot easier said than done yeah the rings look kind of small on telly but when you're in
35:33there they are quite big sometimes they can feel small if you're you're the person chasing
35:37sorry running away but i think she just gave herself space every time she came she hooked around
35:43and all through the uppercut and just spun and and always kept a good enough space where if she
35:48could move back twice or she could spin and be in the center yeah she's good at controlling the
35:53distance you she's good at using her physical advantages the reach you know feet quite wide
35:57apart lead lead hand quite low she can hook up it throw it off the middle you know try to walk
36:03onto the backhand then as well so that's how you've got it at home you've got two drawn rounds
36:12in there and one to chapman it's the rest to nicholson the worst of tight rounds the first
36:17couple were tight i don't personally see how you can find more than four for raven chapman
36:27but it was a good effort from her nonetheless
36:30a step up for her i find that she's been chasing for a while and
36:35she will rebound from this the stronger i'm sure if this doesn't go her way we don't want to pre-empt
36:40anything it can be a dangerous game but i think will nicholson not to get this then it would be
36:48it would be quite surprising
37:02and it would of course represent a win for match room over queensbury and they have been very rare
37:09ladies and gentlemen after 10 two minute rounds of boxing we go to the judge's scorecards judge
37:16samantha boulder scores it 99 to 91 and both judges karen mccann and moises melham scored the
37:25same 98 to 92 all in favor of your winner by unanimous decision and still women's wbc

37:52and eight rounds to two from both kira mccann and moises melon
