27 September - National weather forecast presented by Craig Snell

00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Well, as we go through
00:03the rest of today, it's remaining fairly changeable out there with plenty of showers affecting
00:08most of the country. Most frequent showers probably up across the far north east of Scotland
00:13where we could see a few heavy and thundery showers. And then down towards the very far
00:17south west of the country here, rather cloudy skies with a little bit more in the way of
00:21persistent rain developing. Temperatures in the north reaching the low teens, in the south
00:26potentially the mid teens, but factoring a fairly brisk north to north westerly wind
00:31it will feel fairly cooler than that. Going into this evening, for most of us the showers
00:36generally beginning to fizzle out, but we continue to see a band of cloud and rain affecting
00:41parts of Cornwall and Devon throughout the night. And then going past midnight, most
00:46of the showers should become confined to coastal areas, especially across Northern Ireland
00:50and the northern part of Scotland. So that leaves plenty of clear skies, particularly
00:55across south west Scotland, into north west England, down into the Midlands. So with clear
01:00skies this time of year, perfect recipe for some fairly chilly nights, could see temperatures
01:04falling down to low single figures in a few spots. But the compensation will be in this
01:08area, we'll start tomorrow on a fairly bright and sunny note. Elsewhere, showers from the
01:14word go, and as we go through the course of Wednesday, these showers will become a little
01:18bit more widespread right across the country. Heaviest and most frequent showers probably
01:22across some western areas initially, and then potentially later on as this band of
01:27more persistent rain begins to work its way in across the far north east of England and
01:32south east of Scotland. Temperatures tomorrow for most of us actually reach in the mid-teens
01:37and slightly lighter winds tomorrow, so hopefully that should make it feel a little bit less
01:41cooler than it is today. So that rain across the far north east of the country will begin
01:47to work its way southwards during the course of the evening and rush hour. So a fairly
01:51wet commute home for some of us, but for others it will be a dry and sunny note to
01:56end Wednesday on. And then as we go into Thursday, what we'll see is that area of rain quickly
02:01move its way southwards, introducing a slightly brief drier and brighter spell for some of
02:06us during the course of the day, before another band of rain then works its way in during
02:10Friday bringing another spell of wet and windy weather, especially across western parts of
02:15the country. So if you want more information about the weather where you are, you can always
02:19check us out on our website or you can follow us on our various social media channels. But
02:23that's all from me for now.
