00:00Hello, we are in a slightly cooler interlude before temperatures are expected to significantly
00:06rise once again later in the weekend and the start of next week. It's certainly significantly
00:11cooler across northern parts of the UK following a passage of a cold front on Tuesday. That
00:17cold front has brought some additional cloud to the south, that's sticking around for some
00:22of the afternoon, so not entirely blue skies but there will be plenty of sunshine through
00:26Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia. It will still be very warm in the south, 25 to possibly
00:3129 Celsius towards the southeast. You can see how the temperatures are trending downwards
00:36further north compared with how we started the week, high teens, low 20s, back to around
00:41average for the time of year and some showers around parts of southern Scotland, Northern
00:46Ireland but more especially the north of Scotland, some frequent showers, the odd heavy downpour
00:51and a keen breeze. In between some clear spells but overnight one or two showers could drift
00:56into the northwest of England and there will be some cloud moving into northwestern areas
01:02as well, otherwise clear spells for many. And it's not an oppressively warm night by
01:07any means, temperatures in some places will dip into the single figures so perhaps a more
01:12comfortable night for sleeping compared with how we started the week. But it's a slightly
01:18different day for many places, I think for Northern England, North Wales there will be
01:22more cloud around and there will be some showers as well, some heavy downpours, particularly
01:26over higher parts of Northern England. So it's a day where you may need an umbrella
01:31to hand, Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing a similar sort of thing, sunny spells but
01:35also some showers and 18 to 20 Celsius or so for the northern half of the UK. But the
01:42hotter weather continues further south, 27, 28 Celsius and dry, plenty of sunshine across
01:50Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and southern counties of England. Now the showers continue
01:56for some time into the evening for Scotland, Northern England as well, eventually they
02:00fade away and then this little feature starts to turn up. Now this is a weather front which
02:07will just skirt across northern parts of the UK for the start of Friday bringing a spell
02:11of rain, nothing too substantial and it does clear away, replaced by Saturday by high pressure
02:18that builds across the UK leading to widespread sunny skies for much of the country at the
02:25start of this weekend up and down the UK and it looks like it will allow rising temperatures
02:31initially because it will be sunnier and because the air will be sinking and warming up with
02:37that high pressure. But through the weekend during Sunday and into Monday that high drifts
02:43to the east, this low towards the south starts to move in and that allows southerly winds
02:49to waft even warmer air our way or even hotter I should say and so temperatures really start
02:55to rise for the start of next week. Very warm nights, hot days and that's why there is an
03:02extreme heat warning in force. Unusually high temperatures are expected. We'll keep you
03:07updated on all of that and you can follow those updates on social media. Bye.
