00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Weather warnings are
00:04in place overnight for Scotland and Northern Ireland. A snow warning covering much of Scotland,
00:09particularly the higher ground, through Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning. And then
00:14a wind warning across more western parts of Scotland, extending down towards the central
00:19belt associated with this area of low pressure, which will deliver severe gales for a time
00:24and also some damaging winds. Northern Ireland seeing an ice warning associated with winter
00:29showers through Wednesday and also into Thursday morning. Elsewhere through Wednesday evening,
00:36some patchy rain continues across southern counties, extending from Norfolk down towards
00:41central southern England as well as the west country. To the north of that, the Midlands,
00:45Lincolnshire, Wales, mostly dry, a few residual showers towards the north-west, but it's really
00:49this system here making for a very lively night across Scotland as those winds really
00:54pick up some strength and some damaging gusts associated with it as well. Blizzard conditions,
01:00poor visibility, drifting is likely as those snow showers become more persistent into the
01:05first part of Thursday. Watch out for some icy stretches and untreated roads as well
01:09for Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. Now through the day, we watch as this system
01:13moves towards the east. A mix of rain and sleet at lower levels, but certainly some
01:18accumulations of snow through the day above around 200 metres. And then the winds will
01:24slowly ease from the west, but still rather gusty further east with a strong to near-gale
01:29force wind coming in from a cold direction. A few wintry showers can't be ruled out across
01:34the far north of England and it will feel cold in that wind. Some brighter skies to
01:38end the day further south across England and Wales as well as western Scotland, but showers
01:42continue to feed in across the north-west of England as well as Northern Ireland. And
01:47that will lead into a frosty night into Friday morning, a widespread frost, a severe frost.
01:53And then we'll see some fine weather with some lighter breezes before things change
01:57yet again through Saturday and into Sunday. It turns wet and windy, the risk of gales
02:02arriving and also showers to follow with some heavy rain on Sunday further south. We'll
02:06keep you posted here at the Met Office, so please stay tuned.
