10 December - National weather forecast presented by Clare Nasir.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your forecast for Friday. It's a classic setup of a
00:04northwest wind, a cold wind at that, delivering showers towards the western
00:08side of the country and in shelter towards the east some brighter skies.
00:12Before that though we do have a weather front straddling the country bringing
00:16with it outbreaks of rain. The rain pushing from the west towards the east
00:19through Thursday evening. You see the showers following. So a wet evening to
00:24come as the rain slowly clears towards the east coast. It will be a slow process
00:28across this part of the country, eastern Scotland and eastern England and some
00:32strong winds particularly towards the eastern side of England. Even so it will
00:36dry up here and then we'll see some clearing skies allowing temperatures to
00:40fall quite quickly. So it's going to be a cold night with a fairly widespread
00:44frost particularly towards the north as temperatures dip down to sub-zero across
00:48Scotland, northern England and even further south in rural spots we could
00:52see some pockets of frost. But the other feature of the weather as we head into
00:55tomorrow morning will be those showers. A mix of rain, hail and thunder across
00:59western Scotland, northern Ireland, northwest England as well as Wales. You
01:02can see where the brightest weather will be across eastern Scotland and eastern
01:06England. Some fine conditions coming through here but it will be a chilly old
01:10start to the day. A few showers making their way down towards the west country
01:13as well and quite a keen breeze that northwest wind making it feel quite
01:16chilly as we head through the morning and into the afternoon. So this is the
01:20picture through the morning, not a lot of change through the afternoon. You can see
01:23this weather front here, very slow moving across the North Sea so for the
01:28likes of East Norfolk and East Suffolk you could continue to see more clouds
01:32and some outbreak terrain and also that strong wind eventually clearing these
01:36parts. Wherever you are though most places seeing some brighter weather, the
01:39best of the sunshine, eastern and central parts of Scotland, eastern and southern
01:43parts of England and even in shelter across East Wales. Scattered showers for
01:47the west country continue as well as Wales, northwest England, southwestern
01:51parts of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland but they'll lose their intensity
01:54through the latter part of the day as temperatures rise around four to six
01:57seven degrees Celsius. So through Friday evening and into Saturday we'll see some
02:02clearer skies yet again and again temperatures will fall so expect a
02:06fairly widespread frost particularly across more central and eastern areas
02:09before more cloud arrives and then more rain. The rain will push across the
02:14country yet again through Saturday so some wet and windy weather to come but
02:17the air will be milder setting the scene for a trend in our weather as we
02:21head through the latter part of the weekend and into next week. Bye bye.
