00:00Hello. Welcome along to your latest update from the Met Office. A cold day today for
00:05sure but for many it's a sunny day and that wind that was with us yesterday is continuing
00:11to ease down. So perhaps it doesn't feel quite as bitter as it did on Wednesday. Here's the
00:16bigger picture from space and you can see much of the UK with clearer skies. Did have
00:20some wet weather earlier over Wales and southwest England. That's clearing away. We've still
00:24got a lot of showers packing in along the east coast and there's thickening cloud up
00:29to the northwest. That will turn the sunshine hazy across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:34but plenty of sunshine elsewhere. Still a few of those showers grazing the coast of
00:38Lincolnshire and particularly into Norfolk where there is still a cold wind blowing.
00:43But elsewhere the winds are lightening up and with some sunshine temperatures just about
00:49ticking up to 4, 5, 6 degrees. Maybe a little milder around the coasts down to the southwest.
00:56Now through this evening and overnight quite quickly temperatures will fall away so there
01:00will be a touch of frost in places and then that wet weather works into Northern Ireland
01:04as rain. But as it hits the colder area across Scotland there could in places be a bit of
01:08snow. Mostly over hills but for a time it could be a little bit down to relatively low
01:13levels. That's the same further south later in the night as well over parts of Northern
01:17England. Again mostly over the hills but some to lower levels and parts of the Midlands
01:22to perhaps then into parts of Eastern England later in the night. Not huge amounts not expected
01:27to cause too many issues but there could just for a time be a little bit of snow falling.
01:33Let's take a look at the temperatures because they're actually going to rise through the
01:35night so come 8 o'clock close to or touch below freezing certainly in rural areas. But
01:40as we go through the night as that wet weather comes in from the west the temperatures will
01:44actually start to tick up so that parts of the southwest will be in double digits by
01:49morning time. Still pretty cold though across East Anglia and here still potentially for
01:54the morning rush hour a little bit of sleet and snow could be falling maybe across the
01:57southeast also. Again not expected to last too long. That could be noticeable for the
02:03morning commute. Quite quickly though it will turn to rain and then it's a fairly dull day
02:08across the south. Outbreaks of rain across the southeast and East Anglia through much
02:12of the morning turning drier further west for a time before another pulse of rain then
02:17comes into the southwest and south Wales at the end of the day. Lots of cloud across
02:21England and Wales some brightness over the far north of England. Sunny spells for Scotland
02:25and Northern Ireland but there will be some showers coming into the west coast of Scotland
02:30as the breeze picks up here later in the day. Temperature wise back up on Friday so a milder
02:36day certainly in the south and even further north temperatures a little bit higher than
02:40today's values. As we go through Friday evening we'll see a bit more of that wet weather across
02:45the southwest could be quite heavy. Some uncertainty about how far north it gets could
02:48turn up in the Midlands for a time certainly looking fairly soggy along the south coast
02:52through Friday evening. More showers pepping up across the north turning to snow over the
02:58Scottish mountains as things turn colder again into the weekend. Lots of showers across the
03:03country on Saturday with a chilly wind. Most places dry on Sunday but there will be more
03:09showers along the east coast. We'll have a full weekend update for you come Thursday
03:15afternoon so subscribe to our YouTube channel and then you won't miss that. And of course
03:19there's always more more right across social media.
