00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office. It's been an unsettled
00:05day across England and Wales, some heavy rain, some thundery showers in places, all thanks
00:10to this area of low pressure which has been largely sat right across the UK over the last
00:1624 hours or so, but over the next 24 hours it starts to move away. However, this introduces
00:22a colder northerly airstream across the UK as we head through next week, particularly
00:26by Tuesday and into Wednesday, temperatures falling below average for the time of year,
00:31especially across northern and western areas, perhaps even some sleet and snow over the
00:35tops of the Scottish mountains. For Sunday evening, still heavy rain across
00:40south-east Scotland, northern England into Wales, this slowly pushing its way eastwards
00:44as we head into the early hours, still some heavy bursts possible right through the night
00:49across some eastern parts of England, turning drier for Wales, the West Country, Northern
00:53Ireland as well, seeing some clear spells. Clearer skies across parts of Scotland, we
00:57could see some mist and fog patches developing here where temperatures will dip into single
01:03figures. But under the cloud and the patchy rain elsewhere, temperatures holding up 11
01:07to 14 Celsius. So it does mean a cloudy start to Monday morning, particularly across central
01:13eastern parts of England, some outbreaks of rain, quite dull and murky in places. But
01:17as we head through the day, more in the way of sunshine should develop across parts of
01:21northern England, Wales, down into south-west England later, parts of the Midlands, central
01:26southern England too, generally remaining quite cloudy across eastern and south-east
01:31England with still some patchy rain in places. After some morning sunshine for Northern Ireland,
01:36parts of Scotland, it becomes cloudier here through the day, the risk of rain across western
01:40parts as we head through the afternoon and the wind starting to pick up here too. The
01:45wind's also just starting to change direction, more of a north-westerly component there,
01:50so temperatures back down to where they should be for the time of year, generally 13 to 16
01:55Celsius across the north and close to 20 Celsius towards the south. So just feeling a little
02:00chillier compared to the weekend. And into the evening time, wet and windy weather across
02:05the north-west continues to push east and south-eastwards across Scotland, Northern
02:09Ireland, Northern England, eventually bringing some wet and windy weather across the north-west
02:14as well as the weather system moves in, some heavy rain possible here. Elsewhere, clouding
02:20over, the best of the dry weather overnight into Tuesday morning across the south-east.
02:26Temperatures generally holding up in double figures under the cloud and the rain, starting
02:30to turn colder though across northern Scotland as the northerly air starts to filter southwards.
02:37So on Tuesday, an unsettled start, particularly across northern and western parts of the UK.
02:41This cold front sinks southwards, bringing cloud and rain with it. Ahead, behind it,
02:47turning brighter with sunny spells, blustery showers, the wind staying strong, particularly
02:52across northern Scotland. Some heavy rain for Orkney and Shetland through the day as
02:56well, combined with some strong winds could lead to some disruption here. And that colder
03:00air filtering southwards, struggling at 13, 14 Celsius across much of Scotland, Northern
03:05Ireland, Northern England, holding on to some higher temperatures for a time across central
03:10southern parts of England before that cold air filters southwards into the evening time.
03:16And then let's take a quick look at Wednesday, and it's quite a cold day for everyone, perhaps
03:20a patchy frost first thing across the far north of Scotland. A day of sunshine and blustery
03:25showers for everyone and temperatures below average for the time of year. So there's quite
03:31a bit going on with the weather over the next few days, a change as well to much colder
03:36air. So if you'd like more information on this, you can follow us on our social media
03:41channels. See you again soon.
