00:00Welcome to WatchMojo and today we are pledging allegiance to the master mouse himself and
00:13looking at the 20 best Disney video games.
00:16Bringing known IPs to the gaming world can sometimes be a disaster, but sometimes they
00:21can be a true goldmine.
00:23Let's look at the goldiest.
00:26Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear to the rescue.
00:40Combining an already beloved world from a film or TV show with gameplay that feels fun
00:44to actually play, even for non-fans of the drawn upon IP, is not as easy to do as you
00:50might think, and a lot of developers will phone it in knowing they will make sales regardless.
00:55Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear to the rescue is not made by those kinds of developers.
01:00The heavily underappreciated gem combined a rich world that informed the gameplay, making
01:05it fun to explore every nook and cranny, even if you didn't care about the Toy Story films.
01:10With an infamous fan-made remake YouTube series, we're just hoping this game gets the renaissance
01:15it deserves.
01:22Mickey Speedway USA Possibly one of the most underrated karting
01:36titles we've experienced is Mickey Speedway USA, arguably comparable to Crash Team Racing
01:42and the Big Daddy itself, Mario Kart.
01:44The game features an original storyline that drives the gameplay, no pun intended.
01:50Enjoy the time trial mode, challenge friends in contest mode by destroying their balloons
01:54reminiscent of Mario Kart 64, and connect to the Gameboy Color version using the essential
01:59transfer pack.
02:00This game was filled with dope features and original concepts that didn't get their time
02:04in the sun.
02:16Disney Infinity With the success of Activision's Skylanders
02:31franchise, Disney responded with its own toys-to-life game, Disney Infinity.
02:36This game offered a sandbox experience along with unique adventures based on the iconic
02:41Disney brands, including Pixar, Marvel and even Star Wars.
02:45Disney Infinity managed to blend these diverse properties and worlds with a cohesive, angular
02:49art style that looked fantastic, something they learned they could do quite effectively
02:53through Square Enix.
02:55The Jungle Book The NES and SNES may well have been the best
02:59era for Disney games, if Kingdom Hearts hadn't paved the way for future consoles.
03:03And while the 1994 Jungle Book game largely based its framework off of Pitfall, it still
03:08felt like an original and fun masterpiece of the era.
03:11As a classic platformer, Mowgli had to navigate environmental obstacles in a perilous jungle.
03:17Players swung from vines, bounced off tree branches and dodged hazards like monkeys.
03:22The game featured a solid variety of boss fights thanks to its source material, including
03:26the memorable encounter with Car the Snake.
03:30Darkwing Duck Before Marvel joined up with Disney, this
03:41adventurous series might have been the Disney cartoon most suited for a video game adaptation,
03:47though it arrived later than many of Capcom's other titles.
03:50Darkwing Duck was a side-scrolling action game reminiscent of the Mega Man series, featuring
03:55a sidearm that shot gas pellets to incapacitate enemies.
03:58Darkwing Duck could collect various types of gun elements as he progressed through the
04:02stages, making the gameplay feel fresh and adaptive, a recipe for success in games even
04:07to this day.
04:11Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers
04:23Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, the formative game of my toddler years.
04:26What set Rescue Rangers apart was its playful use of scale.
04:30Just like in the cartoon, these chipmunk-sized heroes navigate a somewhat realistically proportioned
04:35world.
04:36In the show, their vehicles were crafted from found objects like yarn spindles and balloons.
04:40In the game, this meant tossing tomatoes as big as themselves.
04:43It was a cute and clever way to depict these tiny, larger-than-life heroes, a recipe that
04:48Disney hadn't worked out by the Alice in Wonderland level of Kingdom Hearts 1.
04:52Okay, it's technically not Disney's fault, I just wanted to slam that awful, awful level.
05:03DuckTales Remastered
05:13One of Disney's earliest licensed games is also one of its best.
05:16For this entry, we're looking at DuckTales Remastered because it maintains the original
05:20story and characters, and gives it a much-deserved fresh coat of paint.
05:24Scrooge's unique abilities, the cane pogo and the ability to wax static boxes to ricochet
05:29them into other items, were unlike anything else on the market way back in 1989, and felt
05:33as natural and satisfying as a Mega Man game.
05:44A Bug's Life
05:48If you're wondering about this entry, and the things I have to say about it, think only
05:51back to our entry on Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, because I may as well just
05:55repeat myself.
05:57The gameplay worked to make the world and story even better, and the developers did
06:00not phone it in because the sales were guaranteed.
06:03They made a game that was fun to play from start to finish, and color me shocked, both
06:09games had the exact same developers.
06:11Congratulations Traveller's Tales, you guys rock.
06:24Donald Duck Going Quackers
06:46A game that came in many iterations, it's not surprising that people don't remember
06:50its brilliance, considering they may not have gotten the same game as someone else.
06:54Game Boy Color, Windows PC, Playstation, N64, Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, Dreamcast
07:00and Gamecube, this game was put on more devices than GTA 5.
07:05The gameplay was enjoyable, and the game was bite sized, meaning it could be completed
07:09fairly quickly, making it a gem for the speedrunning community.
07:21The Incredibles
07:41The Incredibles on the PS2 stood out due to its engaging gameplay that faithfully captured
07:45the films action packed essence.
07:47I first played this with my best friend Jack at his house way back in 2004, and if you're
07:52watching this Jack, you need to learn to pass the controller more mate.
07:55Each family member's unique abilities offered varied and dynamic gameplay experiences.
08:00The levels were well designed, blending combat, platforming and puzzle solving.
08:04The graphics were impressive for the time, bringing the beloved characters and vibrant
08:08world to life.
08:09Additionally, the game's soundtrack and voice acting added to its immersive quality.
08:13Overall, it was just a banger, there's nothing else to say.
08:22G-Force
08:29Based on the terrible movie of the same name, we aren't shocked many people didn't pick
08:33up the game.
08:34As it turns out, this IP is much more suited to video games than film.
08:39You'll play as Darwin, a guinea pig on a mission to save the world.
08:43That isn't something you'd expect from these little critters, but they handle it well.
08:47Solve puzzles, take out foes and use a clever little fly to access hard to reach places
08:51and slow down time.
08:53I'm never going to mess with a guinea pig ever again.
08:56Wait, that makes it sound like I mess with guinea pigs now.
08:58I'm never going to mess with a guinea pig.
09:08Epic Mickey
09:18If Mickey wasn't already lovable enough, let's just throw Epic before his name to make the
09:23most 2010 sounding game possible.
09:26This Wii adventure game featured a more classic, mischievous Mickey Mouse and used the Wii
09:30remote as a paintbrush.
09:32The real treat for Disney fans was the story, which served as a fourth wall breaking commentary
09:37on Disney's history.
09:38It's fun, it's informative, it's everything you'd say to describe a terrible game, and
09:43somehow, it's phenomenal.
10:05Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse
10:23Another entry from the classic era comes in the form of the longest title you've ever
10:27heard, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse.
10:30Castle of Illusion featured Mickey Mouse venturing into the titular castle to save Minnie from
10:34the dark wizard, Mizrabel.
10:36Like DuckTales, Mickey had a bounce attack to spring off enemies and reach higher heights,
10:41and the level design was impeccable.
10:43It's still considered one of the best Genesis games of all time.
10:46It was so highly regarded that it received a full HD remake in 2013, which is probably
10:51the version you should play.
10:53Next entry
11:04Quack Shot
11:14The eternally jealous Donald Duck got his own game adaptation in 1991 from Sega right
11:19after Mickey.
11:21Just wait Donald, your time in gaming will come in roughly 10 years.
11:25In this one, the temperamental fowl took on an Indiana Jones-like role, navigating ancient
11:30tombs and dungeons.
11:31The game received a warm reception, despite some criticism for its uneven difficulty.
11:36With a surprisingly detailed and twisty story for its time, Quack Shot remains one of the
11:41best uses of Donald Duck in any game, but not THE best.
11:50Split Second Velocity
11:52No, this isn't a mistake, Split Second, one of the most explosive and fast-paced racing
12:08games of all time, is indeed made by Disney.
12:11No Donald, no Goofy, no Nissan Pulsars.
12:15Players can cause explosions on the track as they drive, making the game feel as far
12:19removed from Disney's typical style as possible.
12:22The more chaos you cause, the better, as dangerous driving fills up your power gauge.
12:27This allows players to block off or open up new areas of the track with massive explosions.
12:32A course that changes as you play, now that's a racing game.
12:44Disney Dreamlight Valley
12:46Here's a more recent entry releasing in 2023 and still blowing Disney minds in 2024.
12:51With an immersive and enchanting world where players can interact with beloved Disney and
12:55Pixar characters, Disney Dreamlight Valley will put a smile on even the most hardened of faces.
13:01The game combines life simulation and adventure elements, allowing players to customize their
13:05avatar, build and decorate their homes, and complete quests alongside iconic characters.
13:10Frequent updates and new content keep the gameplay fresh and engaging,
13:14making Disney Dreamlight Valley one of the best recent Disney releases.
13:19Lego Pirates of the Caribbean, the video game.
13:30We love a two-player experience because you don't get many couch co-op games in the 2020s.
13:48If you're willing to rewind the clock a little bit, you'll find loads of gems like this one.
13:52Play through the first four pirate movies The Curse of the Black Pearl,
13:55Dead Man's Chest, At World's End, and On Stranger Tides.
13:59The levels follow the film's plots, enhancing the action with the humor we love from Lego games.
14:04Use Jack's compass to find items, walk underwater as Davy Jones,
14:08and perform a slick double jump as Elizabeth Swann.
14:11Bring a friend and you've sorted out your next weekend off.
14:20Aladdin
14:21I'm so glad we're talking about this game because I literally played it today.
14:32Aladdin combines a beautiful world with wildly fun gameplay and a difficulty level that feels
14:37challenging but totally achievable. The Aladdin game may be the pinnacle of the 16-bit era of
14:43Disney games and is still widely regarded as one of the best Disney licensed games of all time.
14:47Aladdin is remembered for one thing, its silky smooth pixel animation that looks impressive
14:52even by modern standards, adding an extra layer of personality to one of the best Disney films
14:57of all time. The Lion King
15:18Before we talk about how wonderful this game is, it's worth noting that it's also arguably one of
15:23the hardest SNES games of all time. In fact, it's on our list, but it also rules. The action
15:29platformer's difficulty spiked early, leaving most kids stuck at the wildebeest stampede or
15:34the colorful I just can't wait to be king stage. A level select code allowed players to skip around
15:40and see all of the highlights, including the dramatic finale. This game makes the list mainly
15:45for its historical significance and beautiful animation. Kingdom Hearts 2
16:16This is one that might split the audience. We decided to just include one Kingdom Hearts
16:25entry for this list, and although Kingdom Hearts 1 is iconic, kicked off the series and changed
16:30the Square Enix formula for good, it can't be compared to the second entry in terms of gameplay
16:36and worlds. Minor criticisms of the first game were addressed, while the core experience was
16:41largely maintained. Disney has always championed creativity, and the world of Kingdom Hearts
16:46stands as one of their most original endeavors. Did you enjoy this video? Check out these other
