00:00All righty, there's really no other way to put it, 49ers Chiefs, it's the biggest game
00:08of the week, it's the biggest game in the NFL this year, up to this point, Super Bowl
00:13rematch.
00:14Oh, no doubt.
00:15It's the one that was circled on calendars for a long time and we are approaching Sunday
00:23Goo, 125 Levi's Stadium, Chiefs Niners for all the, well for a lot of marbles, a lot
00:31of marbles.
00:32The marbles upstairs for the Niners, right, and Burkhart and Brady will be on the call,
00:36but I'll just say this, just do me this favor, this solid, today I'm going to act like I'm
00:41on the Niners and I'm going to tell you all, if I had a jersey, what this game would mean
00:47to me.
00:48And the fact, Stony, that over the last five to six years this team has owned you, Fred
00:54Warner, the captain, or one of them, your heart and soul, says, I've never beat that
00:59team.
01:00We've come damn close, we could have altered history, he didn't say it, but I was taking
01:03it that way.
01:04But Stony, damn, man, this is, for the marbles upstairs, you want to lay an L on the Chiefs
01:10and the fact that they're undefeated and they haven't played their best football, who cares,
01:15to be the team to lay the first L on them, you want to do that.
01:18You can't run from it.
01:20And I don't think the Niners are, you're right, is the season over, technically, no, but dammit,
01:25they beat you twice, you'll want to just extract some Kevin Costner, man, some revenge.
01:31I'm going to retire that line because people who know me, I've been using that a lot.
01:36Well, what is this game, what do you want it to mean to the Niners?
01:43I mean, how, and I'm going to play this one right off the bat, and we're playing this
01:49one a few times today.
01:51We'll see.
01:52No, we will.
01:53We'll see.
01:54This is Kyle Shanahan.
01:55He's asked about, you know, you've lost a couple big ones to this team, so you pay attention
02:01to the Super Bowl, you're looking at game film of the first five games of the year.
02:06Is it still haunting you?
02:07Do you want it to haunt him?
02:09Yeah, I think everyone understands that we've lost the two Super Bowls to them.
02:13So, I mean, that can give a little post-traumatic stress when you turn on the tape, but I think
02:17that's human nature.
02:18But you got to make sure you don't get caught up in that, you know, this game has nothing
02:21to do with past games.
02:23That was last year.
02:24We're playing a really good AFC opponent.
02:27We're 500 right now, we want to stay atop of our division and get a win.
02:31I don't really, I mean, you think about that stuff going into it, but in terms of what
02:34it plays out in a game, it really has no correlation, and you try to make sure that it doesn't.
02:39It has no correlation, and you try to make sure it doesn't.
02:48Do you want, if I said to you, dude, do you want Kyle Shanahan to have stayed up at night
02:57over the last four to six months thinking about the Kansas City Chiefs?
03:03How would you answer that?
03:04You know me, Steiner, yes.
03:06And that's just, and again, even if he had done that, I know he's going to give that
03:11political answer, but yes.
03:13And if I were him, I would lay in bed thinking about, man, sipping some bourbon or some yak,
03:19thinking about, man, not only once, but twice, we lost to the same team, which is now a dynasty.
03:25We're responsible in a sense of it being a dynasty.
03:28And I could have did some things different, some different calls.
03:33I guess in a, you know what I'm saying, Steiner, in a perfect world, I would lay in bed thinking
03:38about it, because it's the same team.
03:41See, here's the way I look at it.
03:46And you know, let's say you were in a relationship, all right?
03:52Yeah.
03:53You had a girlfriend or a boyfriend.
03:55Oh yeah.
03:56And you know, something happened, and you just can't get over it.
04:02It's infidelity.
04:03I've been there.
04:04I don't know if it's infidelity or not.
04:05Just didn't work.
04:06Well, that's the hardest one.
04:07Just didn't work out.
04:08Okay.
04:09Just didn't work out.
04:10Yeah.
04:11Were you ever hard?
04:12And so, you get broken up with, and you pine, and you mourn, and you pine, and you mourn.
04:23And you kick yourself, and you think, should I have done something different?
04:27Call in sick to work, because you can't get it.
04:28Don't you get it, Goo?
04:30Yeah.
04:31And when you do that, you can't move on.
04:35You can't.
04:36All right.
04:37So, in the best interest of the San Francisco 49ers, they've got to wipe it away.
04:42All right.
04:43I hear you.
04:44They've got to wipe it away.
04:45Then, I'm talking about the loss of the Super Bowl last season.
04:48So, you think right now, as a collective, because everybody on the 53-man roster was
04:52not on the roster last year, or 2019, you think when they see those Chiefs helmets and
04:58warm-ups, or just this week, and that's why I appreciate the Niners this season, talking
05:03about Super Bowl, La Bust, Kittle, Warner.
05:07You don't think there's mental residue of who it is that they're playing, even though
05:12we know this season has a bunch of weeks left, Steinie?
05:16It's just human nature.
05:18It's that team that prevented us from winning.
05:21And now, they're a modern-day dynasty.
05:24Are you going to call a different play to start the game?
05:28No, Matt.
05:29I'm not telling you that, but I can't pretend or fake it that this is just another game
05:37for the Niners.
05:38If they lose, worst-case scenario, you got Dallas.
05:41You own them, right?
05:42Then, it becomes a Muslim, whatever.
05:43But, Steinie, at what point are you going to send a message to that team, if we see
05:48you again in the bayou, we'll be coming off a bye, because you'll have that week.
05:54The Niners are too good for a team to have their number during this run.
05:59How about that?
06:00That's where I'm at.
06:02It just came out.
06:03I think there's a chance that this game, regardless of the outcome, is destined to be frustrating.
06:12If you lose it, it's going to be a cloak over the season, and if you are progressing toward
06:22the playoffs, we're all going to know that if the Chiefs are at the end of it, you've
06:26never beaten them.
06:28By the same token, we're all smart enough football fans to know that if the Niners win
06:35on Sunday, it doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot.
06:40In the grand scheme of things, and 49er fans are smart enough, and any NFL fan is smart
06:48enough to know, you can't win the Super Bowl Sunday, nor can you win last year's Super
06:55Bowl Sunday.
06:56So you've got to go out, try to win the game, and if you win it, all it is, is great.
07:03That's it.
07:05That's it.
07:06And now you start all over against the Cowboys.
07:07I'm not mad at you, but let's put that right on the table.
07:12Brought to you by Adco.
07:13I sent Bitly a text, he hasn't texted me back, Stoney.
07:15That's a first.
07:16I got a friend that's in need of his services.
07:19So the Niners have struggled this season, and there's a litany of reasons why, injuries,
07:27but we saw the debacle that was Arizona, and they got off the mat, beat Seattle.
07:34This win, if they were to get it, would be two in a row.
07:37You got your little brother coming to town on national TV the week after in the Dallas
07:41Cowboys.
07:42So you possibly could be setting yourself up to win three in a row, five and three,
07:49headed into the bye, if it's just about this year.
07:52And obviously it is.
07:53So Stoney, it's more than just the Chiefs, because if you lose this, here we go again,
08:00you're under 500, and then you'll probably be, you know what I mean, like, what better
08:05way to show the world we're back on track, and it being the Chiefs.
08:09So I feel like it's the Ernie Banks, the doubleheader, the two-for-one.
08:12888-957-9570.
08:13Here's what I was thinking about today is, we're listening to all the quotes from the
08:22players and the coaches, and we're trying to decipher what they think of this game and
08:26how meaningful it is.
08:27And of course it's a meaningful game, because there's only 17 of them, but yet it is the
08:31Chiefs, a team that's had your number, and this, that, and the other thing.
08:35I'm more interested in, how important is this game to you, the fan?
08:42Because again, I think fans are smart enough to know they can't avenge last year's Super
08:51Bowl loss with a win.
08:52Can't you make it feel a little better, though?
08:54I don't know.
08:55That's what I'm asking 49er fans.
08:58See if I were a 49er fan, you're damn right I want to win this game.
09:02But I also know that in the grand scheme of things, you're going to have to beat them
09:09again if they're there.
09:11And so then, what will this game have meant?
