00:00We're going to hang on and win this game!
00:0524-23 Cardinals.
00:08They beat the San Francisco 49ers yesterday.
00:11Goo?
00:13You may not know this, but I'll throw it at you because it's been circulating.
00:17But 1988, the Steve Young Niners were up 23-0 in Arizona against the Cardinals
00:23and lost the game 24-23.
00:26And that was the same score as we had here yesterday.
00:29Did they win the Super Bowl that year?
00:31No, 1988 they didn't win.
00:33You know what? They may have won. I don't know.
00:35I just can't believe they lost.
00:37We need answers. I got questions. I don't have them.
00:40Oh, I got answers.
00:41Yeah, what do you got?
00:42Go ahead and ask me a question.
00:43How the hell do you not score a point in the second half
00:47with the likes of Brandon Ayoub, Brock Purdy, J.P. Mason,
00:51who needs the ball more,
00:54and Jawan Jennings?
00:56How does that happen at home?
00:58And I will not bring up the weather.
01:00Oh, it's very hot.
01:02Arizona had to play in that too.
01:03Well, but they're from Arizona.
01:05They play in a dome.
01:06It's a desert community.
01:07Stop.
01:08Dude, what is a two and three, man?
01:10I don't know. I don't know.
01:12I don't know.
01:14Turnovers killed them yesterday.
01:16Well, the J.P. Mason one was big.
01:18Did that hurt?
01:19All of a sudden, there was a little trend going on with Brock.
01:21I brought it up to you a week or two ago about the tip ball at the line,
01:25and that killed their last drive.
01:27Stiney, he's not Lamar Jackson,
01:30and I think he's running for his life.
01:32And now I feel like, you know, if there's a negative play
01:35or he can't pull off the miraculous play,
01:37you know, you're facing a long down and distance.
01:42And my goodness, man, for the Arizona Cardinals
01:45to get stomied and stuffed,
01:47because that's what happened in the first half to me.
01:49The Niners got rewarded with a blocked field goal
01:52and a touchdown.
01:53I mean, Stiney, come on, man.
01:55Yeah, we lost our kicker.
01:57We shouldn't need them.
02:00Because that's what we know is the Niners,
02:02this version of the Niners, through five games,
02:04have a red zone problem.
02:07Well, one of six?
02:10Come on, man.
02:12Can't defend it.
02:14It's hard to defend what we saw.
02:18It was, to me, a carbon copy of the Rams game.
02:22Where they're up, they're in control,
02:24and then the other team scores,
02:27and, okay, we need a drive now,
02:29and then you don't get the drive,
02:30and then you get a turnover,
02:32and then they score again,
02:33and now all of a sudden, that game,
02:36the Cardinals are having control
02:38because they have the ball with four minutes to go,
02:40and all they got to do is drive the field
02:42to get a field goal.
02:43And they went 74 yards in that.
02:4574 yards, Stiney.
02:4711 plays to set up that field goal.
02:50And James Conner averaged 1 point what?
02:52Six yards of pop in the first half,
02:54and I'm asking you,
02:55why did that balloon to 6.5 in the second?
02:59They wore the Niners' defense down.
03:03And my question is,
03:04Stiney, it was hot for everybody.
03:06I just feel like the Niners are not running the ball.
03:10Like, they're leaving meat on the bone.
03:12They're getting past Happy Brady.
03:14Phenomenal, by the way.
03:15Oh!
03:16Yo, Stiney, he's in the zone.
03:17Now he's phenomenal.
03:18Took him a month.
03:19Yeah, took him a little while.
03:20But, Stiney, I got to tell you this.
03:22He kept saying throughout the whole broadcast,
03:24I'm not used to the Niners throwing the pigskin
03:27around the yard like this.
03:29And I'm just wondering,
03:30I mean, are they not?
03:32Why is Kyle just pass-happy all of a sudden?
03:3536 passes.
03:3635 passes.
03:3826 runs.
03:4026 runs.
03:41Only 14 for Jordan Mason.
03:44Explain that to me, man.
03:46Maybe.
03:47I don't know.
03:48I thought the same thing.
03:50I thought they just felt like Purdy was dropping back
03:54every single time.
03:56And it's a game you're up.
03:59I didn't like the play calling.
04:01I didn't like how much they threw the ball.
04:03Especially because it's not like Purdy was...
04:05That was his accuracy.
04:07Totally efficient.
04:08Yeah, no doubt.
04:09That was his worst.
04:10I'll say, Stiney, and I feel confident in doing so.
04:12From an accuracy standpoint,
04:14that was his worst game of the year.
04:16He had Kittle.
04:17A better ball would have got him a touchdown.
04:19They were in the red zone.
04:20I don't know if you remember.
04:21And Kittle had to turn around and catch him.
04:23But he went out of bounds.
04:24You know, his momentum was taking him out of bounds.
04:26And they come back and don't score a touchdown.
04:28But something's got to give.
04:30This is a 2-3 football team through five games.
04:34And, again, you don't have McCaffrey.
04:38So, I want to say that's just it.
04:40But, nah, you got a lot of weaponry a lot of other teams don't have.
04:44Brandon Aiyuk, Stiney, you, Willard, Dibbs,
04:46and the rest of the Bay Area,
04:48Butch and Bonte were waiting for a breakout game.
04:50You got that.
04:51But that's not what this was about.
04:53This was about beating the 30th-ranked defense in the NFL,
04:57and all of a sudden they felt like they had a beat on you.
05:03I don't know, man.
05:05Yeah.
05:07It's not good.
05:09It's not good.
05:10Here's what's going on today.
05:12Kyle Shanahan has already spoken to the media this morning.
05:16Because it's a short week, the 49ers are off schedule a little bit.
05:20So, Kyle Shanahan talked to the media today already at 8.45.
05:25We're going to play that at 10.30.
05:27It's about seven or eight minutes.
05:29Shanahan will address everything from yesterday.
05:32But it's fresh because it will be from this morning.
05:35And the San Francisco 49ers, they got beat 24-23.
05:39And it was a similar game to the Rams, where they were up.
05:43Thirteen and a half.
05:45A couple plays here, a couple plays there, and they win the game.
05:48But they can't get a stop when they need to get a stop.
05:53And they can't get a score when they need to get a score.
05:56And then the special teams have been suspect.
05:59But it helped you yesterday, Stoddard.
06:01You got a blocked field goal and four touchdowns.
06:03But you lost your kicker.
06:05Right, that's an injury.
06:06Well, that's because the guy ran back.
06:08The guy had a long run back.
06:10And the next thing you know is Moody's got to make a play.
06:13And the reality of the situation is that they're just not making enough plays.
06:19And they're not going to be, I mean this, if this defense does not improve,
06:23because I don't know what the status is at Greenlaw, Stoddy,
06:25but I'm trying to find something to hang my hat on for the fans
06:29so you can sit and think like, okay, we'll get a boost when this guy comes back.
06:33Well, they got a boost from him yesterday.
06:36From?
06:37Greenlaw.
06:38You didn't see the play?
06:39No.
06:40Where he jumped in.
06:41It was a little extracurricular on the sidelines.
06:44And the guy came in, and it was Dre Greenlaw.
06:46He wasn't in uniform.
06:47Who?
06:48Yeah, it was McBride.
06:49Remember McBride and Ward?
06:51Okay, all right.
06:52McBride and Ward were going at it.
06:53Because there was a lot of that going at it.
06:55But bottom line is, this defense is not playing playoff caliber defense right now.
07:00And you're right, this mimics the Rams game.
07:02But my goodness, that second half, they got Ward down.
07:05And there's no excuse for it.
07:07Especially, you know, you look at the dominance in the first quarter
07:10from a time of possession standpoint.
07:12The Niners had the ball almost 11 minutes.
07:14And I know Kyler Murray got the 50-yard run.
07:17But after that, they kind of, you know, they dialed.
07:20Stanley, I'm speechless.
07:23I can't be.
07:25We got four hours.
07:26A lot going on yesterday.
07:30888-957-9570 is the number.
07:34I just wrote down a couple things that I wrote down.
07:40Fourth and 23.
07:42You go for it.
07:44Would have been a 45-yard field goal for Wyschnowski.
07:47So, I guess they don't feel as confident in Wyschnowski to be the backup kicker.
07:50And I understand that.
07:52And they just wanted to punt.
07:54So, basically, Kittle dropped it.
07:56He should have got it.
07:57Right, which meant the ball came all the way back to about the 38-yard line
08:01on that play where Kittle dropped the ball in the fourth down.
08:07Who's 91?
08:0891 with a roughing the passer on the touchdown?
08:10No, not good.
08:12Okawano.
08:14Yeah.
08:16He roughs the passer.
08:18I thought that play was getting called back.
08:20I was like, no, Niner luck.
08:21Here you go.
08:22I mean, that hurt them because then they get two points
08:24because they can take it in from the one.
08:27Biggest play of the game, I thought, was the fourth and five
08:30where Kyler Murray throws off his back foot to Marvin Harrison Jr.
08:34It was just a heck of a play.
08:36And Floyd was right there on the blitz, Donnie, like you can't even get mad.
08:40They had that.
08:41And it was a great play and a great catch.
08:43And, oh, man, if I asked you right now, Donnie,
08:48to wreck your beautiful brain of the last time
08:50or a kicker you could name that had a high ankle sprain,
08:53and I know why he got it and how he got it
08:55because he was trying to stop the ball carrier.
08:58But through five games, can you meet me here, man?
09:02It's giving me the feel almost like the Giants,
09:05like this just might not be their year.
09:07And there's a lot of time left.
09:09But, man, we don't know when McCaffrey's coming back.
09:11Nobody can explain the red zone woes.
09:14So I don't know.
09:16I'm getting that feeling.
09:18I mean, clearly McCaffrey's linked to their red zone issues
09:21because it feels like they don't want to throw the ball to a back down there.
09:27But also you don't want to give it to a beast you have in Mason.
09:31Well, I'm sick of them being third and six from the six-yard line.
09:37They always run the ball up the middle the first play, always.
09:40They get nothing.
09:41Then it's third and seven again from the Cardinal seven.
09:48And then they throw an incomplete pass,
09:50and now they've got to score a touchdown on third.
09:52I just don't hear you.
09:55But it's bigger than that.
09:57What do you mean?
09:58Like you've got a whole game.
09:59You've got an allocated certain amount of plays,
10:02and a guy that's averaging 6.4 yards a pop, that's what he did yesterday, Mason, 14 for 89.
10:08Stiney, you've got to find a way, just me, to wear down the defense.
10:12And that guy, Jordan Mason, is no surprise.
10:16We know what he can do.
10:17Why is he only carrying in the rock 14 times?
10:20That number should be 25-27 with what we know he can do.
10:25And to come out of that game with just 14 carries for Mason, Stiney, is negligence.
10:33Well, maybe Kyle would tell you 14 carries, he didn't want to give him 20 in that heat.
10:40I don't know.
10:41I mean, I can't give you an answer to that.
10:45Mason holds on to the ball, they win the game.
10:48So, what could have, should have.
10:50But you're right, that was a huge play, man.
10:52But again, if your defense makes a stop, 4th and 5.
10:56That defense makes no big stops.
10:58It doesn't.
10:59It doesn't.
11:00They've had more than two opportunities this year where they just need a stop.
