00:00overcame a lot. David West, remember? Nobody knew. But then there's other times when things go wrong
00:07and you say, well, I don't think the Warriors had a chance after Draymond Green punched Jordan Poole.
00:13And nobody punched anybody as far as we know down in Santa Clara. But at what point
00:19does this go from, as Guru likes to say, nothing to see here, to this is now jeopardizing our season?
00:28That's kind of what I'm trying to, that's what I'm trying to glean from 49er fans,
00:33where they're at with this situation. And can we put a panic meter to it, Stanley? I'm sorry,
00:40yeah, you can. Sure. I'm at eight and a half. And I'm gonna tell you real quick here why I'm at eight
00:44and a half. Out of? Ten. Oh. One through ten, eight and a half. Now, I'm the guy that said,
00:49take away the San Francisco 49ers. If the said team has had the same run that the Niners had
00:56for the last five years, and they come so close to getting it done more than a few times,
01:02I have been consistent in telling you tomorrow is not promised. Yeah, you can feel that pain
01:09of almost getting it done. But when you start in sports and in life, assuming that you're going
01:15to get to a certain plateau and everything's going to go your way every single season,
01:21Stiney, I firmly believe that is dangerous. So I was consistent with that mindset before any of
01:29this popped off. Now, no, Iuke, you're telling me this whole offseason Brock Purdy has not thrown
01:35the pigskin to Brandon Iuke. I think, Stiney, maybe you don't make or win the Super Bowl because
01:42of that. But I can firmly put my finger on that and say, damn, that's not, that will not go under
01:50the good column. And then here we go with Trent Williams. He gets, he wants his money. He's not
01:56there. So Evan, I will not forget when he's filled in for you, Stiney, the word of the week was
02:02continuity. There's no way this offseason since OTAs and what we've seen thus far mirrors continuity.
02:11So to me, I think it's a bigger deal than normal just because the Niners have had so much go their
02:19way and they've earned that. But now I think, you know what, what did you mention, 27 days.
02:26But my gosh, Stiney, you got to get your asses here. And I don't know what's going on. We've
02:32been playing this dog and pony show, a shout out Andrew Filippone in Pittsburgh, who was saying a
02:38trade was imminent. This is tiring from afar. I can't imagine the guys on the team now with
02:45Ricky Pearsall, who you drafted. The youngster has a shoulder and hammy. He's not even practicing.
02:52So to your point, and I'll pass it back to you. How can this be good at all?
02:56I don't think it can be good. The question is if it's bad, how bad is it? I'll throw it to Evan.
03:03I'm at eight and a half. You're laughing. As a 49er fan, if you have a panic meter,
03:13what would your panic meter be at right now? I've got some rules to my panic meter.
03:17With everything involved. I'll tell you. I'll tell you mine in a minute.
03:19Injuries and everything, eh? Probably a seven and a half, a seven.
03:24Wow. We both said wow. That's like a nine on the Evan meter for me.
03:30Well, if I'm thinking about this season, the goal is to win a Super Bowl, right?
03:33Yeah. So right now there are only two things
03:37that could derail that, and that's distractions, which you just talked about, and injuries.
03:43Man. And right now they've got a lot of both.
03:46So unless you think that those two are just going to go away magically,
03:50then I'm worried about the Niners being able to get back to where they were last year.
03:56Boy, I think those are high. Those are high considering we're still a month away from the
04:02regular season start. Where are you?
04:04I can't put it more than a five simply because we're not in the regular season yet.
04:10And I still think all this can be overcome. Well, Jordan Poole got hit before the season started.
04:17Did somebody get hit that I'm not aware of? No, no. Well, I'm just talking about things.
04:21When you talk about distractions, you're right. That was physical.
04:24That was an A-1 major distraction. That was a double A-1.
04:28I don't think the team got over over the course of the entire season. I think that affected the
04:35Warriors. If Iuke and Trent Williams get in here in the next two or three weeks,
04:41I don't think it's going to be affecting this team midway through the season,
04:44other than whether or not those guys came into camp in shape or not, whether they were ready to
04:50go or not. But Brian Baldinger was on with the morning show this morning, and this is what he
04:58said. And I want to get into this because I want to get more specific with what he said. Take a
05:05listen. For anybody who says this isn't a distraction, it's crazy. It is. It's all everybody's
05:09talking about with this team right now is those two players not there. And they're great players.
05:14And the 49ers have rewarded great players. Under the John Lynch-Kyle Shanahan regime,
05:21they've rewarded every great player. Iuke is next up. Trent's at the very end. He's like,
05:26okay, I just saw Pena Sewell. I just saw these guys get rewarded this year. I'm way down the
05:31list right now. Let's just put me where I belong. Anybody who says this isn't a distraction for the
05:39Niners is crazy. All right. Napa State. So let's say it is a distraction. What does that mean?
05:50Like, what does it mean? How does it affect the team? How specifically are they distracted?
05:58How do you fix it? I don't even know what it is. I'm trying to define what a distraction even is
06:05if two guys aren't practicing. You know what I mean? Like, if Spadoni is in the studio,
06:14by the way, well, Benny, have a good first day. Yeah. Nephew. A couple tears, but you know what?
06:20He said he was scared, but he did it anyways. And I was very proud of him. Way to go, Benny.
06:26I hope you didn't do it like my mother did me. My first day, just drop me off and she cut out.
06:31That's the way to do it. I'm still traumatized. Spadoni went into the classroom. No, they don't
06:37bring us into the classroom. You do the assembly area. They say hi to all the new students and
06:41stuff. And then they walk with their teachers and stuff. I'm old school. You don't want to linger
06:47like the cranberries. Drop him off and get out. Dude, wow, man. That's cold. Whenever I coach my
06:53high school or college team, ain't no parents going to be in the gym. No chance. You don't
06:58get to watch practice. You may, you might not even get to come to the games if I'm the coach.
07:03Anyway, I just imagine you as Kurt Russell, Miracle, just saying again, I never saw what
07:09movie is that? Oh, Miracle. I've never seen it about the Miracle on Ice. I saw the real Miracle
07:16on Ice. Why would I see it? We're talking about simulation. I know, but what I'm saying is I
07:20watch both those games. I watched the, I watched Mike Arruzioni live. Why would I see a movie
07:28without Mike Arruzioni? Cause that's what they do in life. You make movies about great things
07:31that happen. All right. So, uh, I've tried. And Boldy played the game. So he is, his expertise
07:39is second to none at what he's doing. And he's got some merch out now, Stani. We'll get into that.
07:43But also he's a former player. Okay. So he's giving you that perspective. So nine out of
07:4910 guys that joined us courtesy of the River Islands. Nice. Yes line. But again, what,
07:57like I'm getting back to Spadoni. You and I are in the studio now, Evan and Spadoni are in the
08:03control room. If Joe Spadoni right now started doing jumping jacks, that would distract me.
08:10That would be a distraction. What a visual. Trent Williams isn't around.
08:16Brandon Ayuk's just standing around. What does it, what is it a distraction mean? And why is it
08:22so negative? Is it the only thing I can think of is absence. But the only thing I can think of
08:28is the players are getting asked about it a lot and it's gets tiring. That's the easy part to me.
08:34I live with these people. I love these people. They're part of my family. If you're out sick
08:40one week, it's not a distraction. You're out sick or vacation or vacation or a Thursday or any given
08:48Thursday, a new movie they're making about our station. No, seriously, like DP three, I'm trying
08:54to really nail this down. I thought in the NFL, yeah, if the guy's not there, he's just not there.
08:59Next man up. So what? Well, how much do you care or put emphasis in the NFL on practice?
09:06You're if Brock has not thrown Brandon Ayuk a football all off season. I think that's a big
09:12deal. Or if you tell me, hey, dude from Union City, you don't know what you're talking about.
09:17We're going to go out there week one and I'm going to throw him 10 targets. He's going to
09:20catch seven. I don't know. But from the outside, Stoney, that's a big deal. They have not worked
09:27with each other all off season. Now I get OTAs. But now we're talking about training camp and
09:33we're talking about the one game allegedly dress rehearsal this week, this Sunday.
09:39We're get you kind of if you wanted to play your starters. And now what did you say yesterday?
09:43I got in the caddy. I swear to you, Stoney, I thought about Trent Williams. I'm like,
09:47this is the one where they know how valuable he is. This is not about how valuable Trent is.
09:53It's about how valuable they deem Brandon. So Brandon is more about the green guys.
09:59Trent's about the green guys, but it's not slash worth. They know that they need Trent.
10:06So there's three guys right now out there that I think are interesting. What is C.D.
10:11Lamb, wide receiver in Dallas, who's not in camp at all. He's holding out. And Jerry
10:17Jones has been talking about that situation for the last week or so. There's Hassan Reddick,
10:24an outside linebacker for the Jets. They acquired him in the offseason from Philly,
10:32and he's holding out and he wants a contract extension. And the Jets general manager,
10:38a guy named Joe Douglas, says we will not trade him. We are not trading him. He is under contract.
10:47We've been clear all offseason. We want him to come in for the $14 million that he's due this
10:54year. Period. End of story. It's up to him to come in. That's where we're at. Our position
11:02hasn't changed. The Niners, it's a little different. They've got a guy holding in.
11:08They've got a front office that ostensibly, not ostensibly, they've confirmed that they
11:14are allowing IUC to look at trades. So I'm just wondering, is there a good way to handle this?
11:24Should the 49ers have been doing it another way? Do you like the way Jerry Jones is talking about
11:30C.D. Lamb? They're a month away from the start of their season. Jerry Jones, one minute, says
11:36he has no urgency. Then he says we miss him. But there's still not a lot of urgency. The Jets are
11:41saying we're not budging. We told you six months ago. And the 49ers, on the other hand, apparently
11:49have been negotiating with IUC. Can't figure it out. Maybe he's going to be traded. Maybe he's
11:54not. They're back to the table. They're not back to the table. I mean, I'm just trying to assess
12:02how much this matters now and how much it's going to matter come the regular season, if at all.
12:08That's where I'm at. I'm trying to figure out what we're talking about here in terms of
12:14manifesting itself into a successful season. Well, I'll tell you what, C.D. Lamb, I haven't
12:18heard one iota about a possible trade. I think that takes a lot out of your teammates and
12:24everybody involved, especially the way we thought the Brandon-IUC situation was going. And the one
12:30thing about why I'm a bit irritated with the Niners and everybody involved, IUC included,
12:35is this thing jumped off in April at the draft. We just didn't know if it was going to be Debo
12:41or IUC. So it's been going on that long. And then when you talk about Redick's, Donnie,
12:46I like the team saying you ain't going nowhere. So my question to you is,
12:52do who's the adult in the room in regard to the Brandon-IUC? It's obvious that Brandon-IUC does
12:59not want to go anywhere because he had the allegedly the opportunity. That to me is a
13:05teammate watching this. Oh, man, we lose an Evan today. Well, yeah, I think I think it's about to
13:10go down by four. Then it doesn't happen that we lose in Spadoni today. Yeah, I think it's going
13:15to go down about 345. It doesn't. That's tiring. So I don't know what the Niners are doing,
13:21but Seedy, to me, they know he's their Bosa. It's just about win to me. IUC is, I don't know
13:31if they know how much they care about him or want to pay him. So that would scare me with 26,
13:3627 games left, Donnie. This from the 650. And I asked for it. And this is kind of what I was
13:44looking for. This is how it's a distraction, says the 650. Brandon-IUC's hold in due to a
13:50contract dispute can be a significant distraction to the team by disrupting the offensive game plan
13:58and team chemistry. His absence on the field may force other players to address their roles,
14:03potentially impacting their performance. Additionally, it can create tension within
14:09the locker room as teammates might feel frustrated by the uncertainty surrounding
14:15a key player's availability. What do you think? And I don't know that you could put a blanket
14:22statement over the whole team. But let's say you're a, let's say, Guru, you are,
14:32oh, somebody who's just a pretty good player, but not a great player on the Niners. Give me one.
14:38I was going to say, okay, do you want, you want better? No, I was thinking of the reason I didn't
14:44like Jan is because he plays wide receiver. Lenore. Okay. Dominic Lenore. Yeah, baby. Okay.
14:50What do you think if you were Dominic Lenore, what would you be thinking right now about Trent
14:55Williams and about Brandon-IUC and the situation and how the 49ers. I'm being honest as all
15:00outdoors. I wouldn't mind my own effing business because both of those dudes are trying to get
15:05their chicken and I may be months or a year away from being in that position. And that's
15:10what that's the old adage, right? I'm Charverius Ward now. Okay. So you're Lenore and I'm Ward.
15:15Yeah. Dude, what do you think about Trent and IUC? What do you think's going on there?
15:19The team don't want to pay them. We need them in here. Don't you think Brandon might be asking for
15:26a little too much? See, I'm not cool with that, man. You know that you don't speak on nobody's
15:30money. You don't know what he's asking for. You don't speak publicly on people's money.
15:35But what good is this doing you and I? This is what a distraction looks like, apparently.
15:39Wow. What if it's after practice, I guess, or at lunch?
15:43Well, no. I mean, I think there's something very real about if you're a player on that team.
15:47Look, the 49ers have not come to terms with two very important offensive players.
15:53If I'm in that locker room, I'm not blaming anybody, but I'm saying
15:57Brandon knows. Trent Williams knows. Shanahan knows. Parag knows. Jed knows. John Lynch knows.
16:06What do they know, Stiney? They all know we're not as good without them.
16:10Okay. So why are we trying to play without them?
16:16Wouldn't I? What if one said, hey, what did you do when Bosa held out? Or what did you do when
16:21Debo requested to trade? Isn't it in that same playbook around?
16:26Well, we've been here before. Why is it different now?
16:30Well, maybe it's not different now. Maybe it's not. Maybe Brandon Ayuk is going through his
16:37Bosa moment, plain and simple, and he'll sign the Wednesday before the game against the Jets.
16:42And had that work out for Bosa on the field, I believe it didn't help him, Stiney.
16:49Okay.
16:50But they went to the Super Bowl.
16:52He needed oxygen.
16:55You think he needed oxygen because he didn't come into camp in August?
16:58I don't think he was in there. I think he missed those reps in August. I do believe that
17:01that plagued him throughout the year.
17:03He never caught up.
17:04He never caught up.
17:05I firmly believe he didn't catch up.
17:08See, I don't know about that.
17:09That's just me.
17:10Yeah, I have no idea.
17:11And it's like our sales team out there, Stiney. Listen, it's about reps. If you're telling me
17:17Brandon Ayuk doesn't need any reps with his starting quarterback, they don't need to throw
17:22the ball, forget preseason, then there's nothing to see here.
17:25But I think we're too smart enough men over 50 to know that, forget the preseason games,
17:31Stiney, I need to catch some passes from you.
17:35Now, I'm asking you a point-blank range.
17:38Do you think they need to throw a pass to each other to be successful in week one, or
17:44they're grown men?
17:45They don't need it.
17:46That's what this ball is down to to me, reps.
17:50Trent Williams.
17:50I don't care if you're at the LA Fitness in Houston.
17:53If you ain't got pads on and you put them on and you go out there and try to throw guys
17:57around and pull something, I think the Niners are going to look foolish and Trent included,
18:02like, told you, that's why you're hurt.
18:05I don't know.
18:06There's a lot of, you know, the 49ers aren't the only team going through stuff like this.
18:11But my question to 49er fans is when does something that you're not worried about
18:17become something you're worried about?
18:19And the boss said something interesting today.
18:22And it was that, you know, the 49ers, this is their Super Bowl window.
18:27Fans should be excited right now.
18:29We should be talking about Purdy and the weapons and whether the defense is going to be better
18:35and how Bosa looks.
18:36Nick Sorensen.
18:37And how McCaffrey looks.
18:38And what's Brandon Staley's role?
18:41And do you think Shanahan's changed, Danny?
18:43Is Brock Purdy ready to take the next step?
18:46And my question to 49er fans is, are you enthusiastic right now about this season?
18:53Or is what's going on in training camp with the holdout of Trent Williams, the hold in
18:58of Brandon Aiyuk, starting to make you think that this isn't going to be our year?
19:03Plain and simple.
19:04And we haven't even talked about the health component of the other guys that are here,
19:08where they can't even do a joint practice.
