00:00Kind of touched on this team ever so slightly because we mentioned the fact
00:06that Alabama is gonna have to face them soon. You got LSU that took on Arkansas.
00:1134 to 10 is the victory for the LSU Tigers. Now one thing that I do want to
00:16highlight from this conversation as well as get your opinion on Rich is that
00:19Nussmeier, who I mentioned earlier, he's climbing the rankings when it comes to
00:22the Heisman conversation. He's now sitting as the sixth guy in this
00:26competition to be looked at to potentially take home the Heisman
00:29trophy. So first and foremost we've seen a lot of shaky performances out of LSU
00:34but what we also have seen is a team that never gives up. So what did you make
00:38of this game? What have you made of LSU so far this season and what have you
00:42made of their quarterback Garrett Nussmeier? Yeah we might have differing
00:47opinions Casey because I have been very impressed by LSU. Not to the extent of
00:52you know Texas before tonight or Oregon and their win over Ohio State. It is a
00:58flawed program there's no question about it but Brian Kelly who is a top-ten
01:03coach in the country is doing one of his best jobs in years because this is not
01:08this isn't Joe Burroughs LSU. There's not that much talent on this roster and
01:15defensively they lost Harold Perkins who is easily their best defensive player
01:21and in his wake Braden Swinson has stepped up on the edge. Whit Weeks leads
01:26the SEC their linebacker in tackles and I'm increasingly a big fan of Garrett
01:32Nussmeier. Take a look at mock drafts. He's sneaking up into the top ten. I've
01:38seen the New York Giants the local team around here possibly taking Nussmeier to
01:43replace to replace Daniel Jones at quarterback. So you know it's not the
01:49best roster LSU has ever had but they've reeled off six consecutive wins.
01:54It's a pretty good Arkansas team that was in Fayetteville 34-10 was the final.
02:00So you know can LSU win a national championship with this roster? I don't
02:04think so but I think they've overachieved since that opening night
02:07loss against USA. I will have to give you that one Rich. For the most part I could
02:12still be stuck on everything that happened in the South Carolina game
02:15because things just looked really messy but you point out a crucial thing that I
02:18have not taken into consideration. The guys that Nussmeier has to air the ball
02:22out to the guys that Nussmeier has to rely on to get this offense going and
02:25probably that's where it comes in stronger as to who he's been in as a
02:29leader and who he's been as a quarterback. They did fall short with
02:32some of their own injuries in that particular battle as well as versus USC.
02:36So something for me to consider moving forward but after I saw the Gamecocks
02:39almost take that game from them I just wasn't sure what to expect from LSU and
02:44if they would be continue to compete but they're doing it.
