00:00What's up guys, so I wanted to go ahead and revisit the Galaxy Note 9 here
00:05So I did a YouTube short on this phone and to my surprise this phone still gets a lot of attention still
00:13What I noticed there's a lot of people who really really like this phone and a lot of people who think this is the peak
00:19of Samsung so this phone came out in
00:222018 and I definitely think it's one of Samsung's best phones
00:27I personally think the note 10 plus was actually I still think one of the best Samsung phones that they have ever put out
00:34Just as far as the design goes if you look at the note 10 plus even compared to the s
00:3923 ultra and even when they come out with the s 24 that phone still looks very very good
00:45In comparison, so I know that they took away the headphone jack with the note 10 plus
00:50And I think that's why people really like this phone in particular because this is probably the last
00:56You know phone this phone and what was it the s 10 plus that had the headphone jack and the
01:04Micro SD card support and then Samsung started to take it away as we saw that trend
01:09Basically started by Apple to get people to
01:12basically move to wireless earbuds
01:16You could debate whether that's a good or a bad thing
01:18I still think it's you know
01:20Kind of a money grab but again you could you could debate that wireless earbuds would be you know
01:27The future eventually, right?
01:29And then also the SD card support stuff
01:31You can also I get a lot of arguments about this of SD cards being slow
01:36But I do think SD cards are still relevant
01:40I think so I just I took totally 100% think that's a premature move right there taking away the SD card support
01:48basically, I think it's just a money grab again like the
01:51Headphones and I think it was done prematurely. I think both of them, right?
01:55So basically the SD card thing is just just a way to sell you up on gigabytes, right?

02:01Samsung will release a 128 gigabyte and then sell you up on a 256 or the 512 depending on what type of person you are
02:08If you take a lot of video, then you're gonna be spend that extra money to buy the higher configuration model
02:13All right, so let's actually talk about the note 9 and the display. I think the display is still
02:20Very beautiful on this phone. Now, of course you have these bigger bezels, which makes it look a little bit dated, of course
02:27But what I like about this phone and also in this time period a lot of smartphone
02:32You know companies were
02:34Basically having these notches and Samsung actually never had a notch on their phone
02:39They actually just waited until they had the punch-hole displays, which I thought was really good
02:44But you get this really nice beautiful screen. Samsung has always been ahead in terms of screen quality
02:51Here, this is the Super AMOLED display. It's 1440p
02:55It's actually not as big as you would think these days most phones are 6.7 6.8 inches
03:00This is a 6.4 inch display. So it's not a super super big phone, but it does have that boxy
03:06Design here, but it's 1440p 516 for the PPI
03:10Super super colorful panel on here and it is a curved panel and I think the display looks absolutely beautiful still
03:18It does pretty decent outdoors, of course not gonna be as good as the newer phones
03:21But I think display is just top like you could just watch content on this phone
03:25It still looks beautiful and there's no notch or punch hole as well to which a lot of people like
03:31So I think the display on here has just aged extremely well, it's a just a beautiful panel here. It's really really nice
03:39All right. So what's to my surprise?
03:43Pretty interesting about the note 9 is it's still fairly decent at gaming here
03:47Um, like I said, I wouldn't necessarily buy the note 9 because you can get a note 10 plus for really cheap
03:52You can get you know
03:55Note 20 ultra for a really good price
03:58But I do really like this phone just like a collector's phone, but it actually still works extremely well
04:04And I know that this phone is like super cheap and very affordable and overseas
04:09As well to you. So I know this is very very cheap
04:11So I know a lot of people are probably still holding on to it or considering getting one as a secondary device
04:18But yeah, it actually still is able to play pub G pretty smoothly. Now, of course, we can't play at HDR extreme
04:24But we are able to play at some pretty good settings is decent
04:28I think it's pretty much on par with like a most mid Rangers these days
04:34Yeah, it just does a it does a pretty decent job when it comes to playing pub G and stuff like that
04:40It's not super super laggy
04:42And like I say at HDR extreme it just runs like it just runs like butter
04:46It's super super smooth as you guys I can see here. So we have the snapdragon 845 chip on this phone
04:53And then we also have the Adreno 630 GPU micro SD cards of support
05:00128 gigs of internal storage 6 gigs of RAM and then we have UFS 2.1 on here
05:06So basically, like I say, it's it's a fairly decent when it comes to gaming
05:10Like I said, if you want a better game experience definitely go like a note 10 plus no 20 ultra and just pay that extra money
05:18But this is pretty decent for just casual gaming. Like I say, it basically is pretty much on par with like
05:24You know something that Samsung's newer mid-range phones or their budget phones in my experience in my experience
05:31The experience is actually better because of the high quality panel on here as well, too
05:37So that's something that I really like but overall like gaming performance on here, you know, it's pretty decent
05:42It's gonna give you still somewhat decent results here
05:45Now in the overall hardware department you could definitely tell this is an older phone and I think what gives away is probably the camera
05:54You know design back here and the physical fingerprint scanner back here, which works extremely well
06:00But it's probably the camera design makes it look a little bit dated now
06:05But it has that boxy feel again kind of sharp on the edges here
06:10You also have your s-pen and your headphone jack down below the s-pen still feels really good
06:16It still feels extremely smooth as well, too. So that's something that I really like
06:22I think it's still just really works really really well
06:25You you can't really tell too much of a difference from this in the s23 ultra the s23 ultra
06:32It has a high refresh rate display and the pen
06:34Accuracy is a little bit better, but it's really not like not like crazy
06:40better and you still have a lot of these same features as far as being able to come in here and
06:47Like take a photo
06:50With the s-pen
06:53So you could you still have a lot of the same features
06:56Still with the s-pen essentially smart select still here live messages all that good stuff
07:00Um, so the s-pen still works on this phone and it's still very accurate as well
07:06Phone is also IP 68 dust and water resistant and the fingerprint scanner
07:13Placement one here. I was never a huge fan of it being this far up on the device, but it does work really well and
07:21Also, you do have one here stereo speakers and let's go ahead and just max the volume out

07:50Yeah, the speakers sound pretty good
07:52Even if you covered the bottom one the top speaker still gives that a good amount of bass is still pretty clear
07:57Now what a lot of people forget about the note is that you actually have an iris scanner on here and Samsung never actually brought this

08:05They actually didn't bring two features back from
08:08This one from the note 9 the iris scanner and then the heart rate monitor from the s9 plus as well, too
08:14They never brought that back
08:16Which actually was pretty useful. I use it still use it on the s9 plus but as you can see here
08:22you can see you have your iris scanner right here and hold on me coming here and
08:28What's kind of funny is that you get like these little preview masks
08:31So it basically scans your eyes, right and it'll show you these little masks when it pops up
08:37But I thought this was pretty cool. I liked it
08:40Wonder why they didn't bring it back
08:42But that was on here, which is kind of like you need thing
08:45A lot of people would say it's a gimmicky feature or something like that
08:47And you know, I thought it was okay
08:50Okay feature at the time this phone does have Samsung desktop support when it's still and actually this phone last update was I
08:58Think it was Android 9
09:00I'm so oh, it's Android 10. Yeah, Android 10 when you are I 2.5 here and
09:06This phone still runs buttery smooth. You still you actually still have a lot of stuff on here
09:12That you would find on the newer Samsung phones like deck support secure folders, you know has NFC that's pin stuff
09:19so I can see why people held on to a note 9 for such a long time because it really
09:25You you actually kind of downgrade a little bit in terms of people who want a headphone jack and SD card support
09:32You know, so that's one thing but yeah
09:34This phone still runs really fast is just the fact that it's not getting security updates and stuff like that
09:39you really have to run antivirus software on this phone from the Play Store and
09:43Then you would have to really make sure that you're not clicking on any or links or anything that you're not supposed to be on
09:50Or downloading trying to get free apps and stuff like that. You really have to be careful
09:54Since this phone is not getting any type of security updates and stuff like that. Talk about the cameras a bit here
10:01So you have a 12 megapixel standard and a 12 megapixel telephoto
10:05It's got 2x optical zoom and this is at a time where the ultra wide wasn't really like the main
10:11secondary camera like it is now and
10:14It's got 4k 60
10:15It's got 8 megapixel selfie cam and then you have the iris scanner and that shoots in 1440p for the front camera
10:22The photos on the note 9 are
10:25Definitely pretty decent. I would say they're probably
10:29these days probably in line with probably like a
10:33Galaxy a 14 I would say something like that
10:37Maybe a little bit better in like very bright environments, but I would probably put it in that kind of category
10:46Doesn't do as well in low-light
10:48Sometimes images can be a little bit soft if you take it out of any type of good lighting a scenario
10:53But you would actually be surprised just looking at the photos
10:56Here you get some really good shots still with the note 9 if you put a lot of light or if you're just in a sunny
11:01Environment you still get a pretty decent shot
11:04But yeah, it does struggle with white balance sometimes
11:08noticing sometimes the colors can be a little bit over, you know over saturated I guess and
11:14Yeah, it's just like the dynamic range is can be a little bit better on here
11:18But like I said, it's a much older phone, but as you guys can see from the shots, it's really not too bad
11:22It's still somewhat decent camera. Like I said put it in some good light you get a really good shot in
11:29You know some pretty good stills actually so this phone battery wise
11:33It's okay. It
11:36Definitely mines doesn't last really a full day
11:39It kind of can if I'm not doing anything too heavy on it just using it, um
11:44Yeah, it's it's it's okay. It has a 4,000 milliamp hour battery. It charges pretty slow as well, too
11:51It charges at like 15 watts and then you also have on here wireless charging, which is nice
11:57But the battery experience, I think I probably get like maybe
12:01Almost five hours. It's a little bit under under five hours for sure
12:06But yeah screen on time is what you would expect from such an older phone, right, um, but I really like this phone
12:12I think it definitely is one of Samson's best phones
12:15A lot of you guys seem to think that I think of me personally
12:19I think the note 10 plus probably Samson's best phone that they've released
