00:00What's up guys, I got the request to do the Galaxy S21 Plus versus the S22 Plus versus
00:06the S23 Plus here.
00:08It's a very interesting comparison, very interesting phones here.
00:13So I think this is really more geared towards S21 Plus users and I still think the S21 Plus
00:19is a fantastic device here.
00:22You can find the S21 Plus for very cheap, around $200 on Amazon, eBay.
00:29The S22, you guys know, one of my favorite phones to buy right now in the old flagship
00:34marketplace.
00:35You could easily find this for around $300.
00:38And again, always cross check guys with different platforms so you can get the best price.
00:43So Amazon, eBay, Swappa, just make sure you shop around.
00:46And then we got the S23 Plus which I think is a phenomenal phone.
00:51It's a little bit on the expensive side, being at around $500 to $400 depending on, you know,
00:58the condition, whether it's locked, unlocked, or whatever.
01:01But yeah, so these are fantastic phones.
01:03The Plus model phones, in general, kind of get overlooked because typically people are
01:08looking for the ultra phones if Samsung is going to, you know, when they release a flagship,
01:14the ultra phones get most of the attention.
01:16Usually the ultra and then the smaller ones, it's just kind of in the middle.
01:21So you know, it's always been kind of like an interesting series for Samsung to put out.
01:26So hardware wise, if you're thinking about making the jump from the S21 Plus, there's
01:31not a lot going on here.
01:32You can see the biggest difference is the camera bump.
01:36You can see it actually got a little bit bigger on the S22 Plus and then it completely went
01:40away on the S23 and, you know, S24 Plus as well too.
01:45They pretty much have the same design, matte finish, also with a glass and metal design.
01:50What has, you know, made the Plus series stand apart in recent years is because you
01:56get the bigger, you know, you get a bigger Samsung flagship, but it's not as boxy.
02:01So that's what a lot of people have liked about these phones.
02:04Even though they're not the most popular phones when it comes to Samsung releasing a flagship,
02:08usually the Ultra series usually gets all the attention.
02:11But the Plus series has always been extremely comfortable to hold.
02:16So that's something that a lot of people have liked.
02:18You know, I always say, like, a phone being comfortable is a big, big deal, especially
02:23for me considering that, like, if you have smaller hands, it can really strain the hand,
02:28the boxier phones.
02:29That's why something like the S21 Ultra is one of my favorite phones because it's a big
02:33phone but it's not uncomfortable and it doesn't kind of hurt to hold.
02:39But besides that, glass and metal, IP68, essentially the same design.
02:43What you will notice is that the S21 is a little bit taller, but again, not too much
02:48going on in the hardware department.
02:50Alright, so when it comes to the displays on these phones, there's again not too much
02:55of a difference.
02:56What I thought was interesting here is that the S21 Plus, it does have a bigger display
03:01at 6.7 inches while these two have a 6.6 inch display.
03:06So Samsung kind of struck the display with the S21 series.
03:09I'm assuming to make it more of a difference with the Ultra series, with the Ultra series
03:14being like 6.8 inches, I guess, you know, just to make more of a difference there.
03:20But yeah, the displays, looking at them all head on, they actually pretty much all look
03:23identical.
03:24As you would expect, Samsung is probably one of the best display makers, you know, on the
03:29market right now and the displays still look great even on the oldest model here.
03:34So they're all Dynamic AMOLED displays, they're all 120Hz HDR10+.
03:40They all have pretty good max brightness as well too.
03:42You really will notice the difference in max brightness with the S22 and S23 as these have
03:48a 1750 nits while this has a 1300 nits max brightness.
03:53But you'll only notice that outdoors.
03:55They're all flat displays as well too, they're all 1080p with pretty high PPIs at almost
04:00around 400.
04:02So again, not too much going on with the displays, you're not really getting that much of an
04:05upgrade.
04:06All 120Hz, pretty much identical in terms of just the little small stuff that I mentioned
04:12here.
04:13Alright, software wise, they actually are running the same software here, OneUI 6.1.
04:18And as far as the updates go, the S21 Plus will get Android 15 and then it'll get security
04:25patches.
04:26The S22 Plus will get Android 16 and then security patches and the S23 will get Android
04:3217 and then security patches.
04:35Right now, the S22 and S23 are pretty much identical in terms of what they can do as
04:41far as the overall AI features and stuff like that.
04:45They're pretty much identical in terms of the AI features.
04:48The biggest difference with software with the S21 is really the lack of AI features.
04:54So it got the circle to search, but it didn't get anything else.
04:58So it got other stuff, but it didn't get any of the AI features.
05:06So as you can see, there's no advanced intelligence on the S21.
05:13It really depends on if you're going to use this stuff or not.
05:18Like I said, it really depends if you care about the AI stuff, otherwise the software
05:22is pretty much identical for the most part here.
05:26And I'll be excited to see what they do with Android 15, if they will add any AI stuff
05:32with the S21.
05:33Now let's talk about the specs a little bit more.
05:36So I thought this was pretty interesting.
05:37The S21 Plus with the Snapdragon 888 processor, 128 gigs of internal storage, 8 gigs of RAM.
05:44The S22 with the 8-gen 1 and then the same RAM as well in internal storage.
05:50And then the S23 with the Snapdragon 8-gen 2 processor.
05:55And this one has 256 gigs and 8 gigs of RAM here and you can see the score difference
06:01here in the FPS.
06:03And overall, you can see how these phones heat up as well too.
06:07So you can see the S21 definitely gets a lot warmer than these two phones for sure.
06:15And yeah, the 8-gen 2 being very efficient, it went from 32 to 34, we got 29 to 33, and
06:22then we got 31 to 35.
06:25And you'll notice more of a difference if you run a longer test as well too.
06:29But overall, performance is still going to be really good on these phones for the most
06:35part here.
06:36And I do want to go ahead and jump into PUBG real quick.
06:38Alright, so when it comes to PUBG, you do have better settings on the S23 Plus for sure.
06:45So I'm pretty sure that's where, you know, if you're a serious gamer and you got the
06:50money, then of course being able to play at 120 frames is definitely going to be beneficial
06:57for you.
06:59And the S23 Plus does a great job.
07:01It's pretty much able to average, as you guys can see I have the FPS counter on, it's able
07:06to average for the 120 frames, you know, pretty decently and not dropping too much.
07:13I think this dropped to the lowest I've seen it, 110 at the very minimum, but as you can
07:20see once we're in the game, you can see it's pretty steady at 120 frames here.
07:25And then our best settings for the S22 and S21 is going to be 90 frames as well too.
07:35And this one as well is able to, it's able to handle PUBG at 90 frames pretty well as
07:42well.
07:43So you can see we're pretty steady at 90, dipping to about 89.
07:51Alright and then we got the S21 Plus again, 90 frames.
07:56This one is also able to handle PUBG pretty well.
08:01Frame rates are pretty consistent.
08:02There's not too much dipping going on.
08:05It still remains fairly smooth.
08:12Yeah so the gaming experience is going to be still really good on all of these phones
08:16and I would say with the S23 Plus having the more efficient chip, it doesn't dip as much
08:23and you get the 120 frames.
08:25But again, they're all still very good when it comes to gaming.
08:28Now as far as photo quality, I would say the S22 Plus and S23 Plus are really more on par
08:34with each other.
08:36The S21 Plus still takes, it still does a great job with taking photos.
08:40I think the low light shots on the 22 and 23 are definitely a little bit better and
08:46I think the zoom photography is a little bit better on the S22 and S23.
08:51But as far as specs, they all can shoot in 8K 24.
08:55You do have a overall higher resolution standard lens on these two being able to shoot at 50
09:02megapixels as opposed to the 64 megapixels.
09:06But the 64 megapixels is coming from the telephoto lens.
09:10But besides that, I mean all of these take great photos.
09:13Like I said, the S22 and S23 obviously take better photos but like I said, I think the
09:20S21 for the price you pay is still giving out really really good shots.
09:25It's just not as good in low light.
09:27Let's test out the max volume starting with the S21.
09:57Yeah, so you definitely notice a difference between the S23 and the S21 and 22.
10:15The S23 speakers sound noticeably better and definitely more bass and overall the clarity
10:21is just better in my opinion.
10:23So that's really good.
10:24The S22 and S21 sound pretty similar which is not bad because they sound pretty decent
10:30but you definitely get a decent upgrade with the S23+.
10:34And I do want to go ahead and talk about the overall battery life experience because as
10:40a light user, it's kind of hard to gauge certain people's battery life because it depends on
10:45how you use the phone.
10:46As a light user, you can definitely get through the day with all of these phones but I would
10:51say if you're a gamer, the S23's processor is much more efficient so it just lasts longer
10:57if you're a gamer and I know the standby time is a little bit better as well too.
11:02So I would say battery life is actually better on the S23 for sure.
11:05I think this was the series where Samsung really stepped it up in the battery life department
11:10because the batteries are all pretty much the same size for the most part.
11:14So be sure to let me know what you guys think and I will catch you guys in the next video.
