00:00What's up guys, today I'm going to be showing you some tips and tricks for the Asus Zenfone
00:059.
00:06Just some things that I like to turn on and stuff like that.
00:08Some things that I think you should know about as well too with this phone.
00:12So let's go ahead and get started here.
00:14So one of the first things with this phone that I'd like to do is go into settings and
00:19then we're going to go into display.
00:22And then we're going to scroll all the way down and turn on the always on panel.
00:27Just a check phone, you don't really have to turn it on, but turn on the always on panel
00:30is definitely a must.
00:31So let me show you what it's like without it.
00:33So when you turn off the screen, you can see, you know, you don't see anything, right?
00:38Now we're going to turn on always on display and now look, now my screen is on.
00:45You can see I have the time, battery percentage, the date, and this stays on.
00:50It's always on guys.
00:51So it's very quick.
00:54I think Apple is supposed to be introducing the always on display as well too, but it's
00:57been on Android for a long time.
00:59Very, very nice.
01:00Next, you're going to see something called system navigation right here.
01:05Now this is something I absolutely love, especially if you are a, you know, older Android person,
01:11you can do the navigation bar.
01:14So you can see we have these little buttons.
01:16Now depending on the size of the phone, I'll turn the buttons on.
01:20You might see them in my video because some people ask, how do you get the buttons right
01:24here?
01:25So Android switched to default gestures, but you can go ahead and switch it back to these
01:29buttons.
01:30I think the buttons are easier, especially for your non-tech savvy people, got your multitask
01:35home button, and then you also have your back button right here.
01:38I think it's just easier to keep up with as well too.
01:43And I don't think there's anything in here really necessary.
01:47Oh yeah.
01:48So let's, we can talk about this, the animation speed, which I think is pretty cool.
01:52This is a, actually a developer option, which is in the settings, which is pretty cool with,
01:57with this phone.
01:58So if I wanted the phone to feel faster, I would turn everything to 0.5.
02:02It turns all the animation to 0.5.
02:04Or if you don't want the animations to show at all, you can turn them off, but I don't
02:09think it looks as pretty.
02:10And it just makes the phone instantly feel snappy.
02:13Like all the animations and stuff, super, super snappy on here.
02:17So adaptive brightness, I like to turn that off because I like to manually control my
02:22brightness, nightlight.
02:23Now, yeah, all this other stuff, not super necessary.
02:29All right.
02:30So one of the next things I want to show you guys with this phone is in the camera.
02:35So this phone does have a 50 megapixel camera, but the 50 megapixel camera is actually not
02:40on by default.
02:41A lot of people think they're taking shots in 50 megapixels and you're actually not.
02:45So I'm going to show you how to actually turn that on.
02:48So you're going to go into that little pop-down menu, settings, and then camera resolution.
02:54Click camera resolution.
02:55You can see we're on four by three, but we're not on four by three, 50 megapixels.
02:59That's your 50 megapixel shot.
03:01So next time you take a photo and you enable that, it's taking the shot at 50 megapixels
03:09resolution.
03:10So you should instantly see a big jump in detail with your photos and stuff like that.
03:16So that's definitely something that I always really like here.
03:20All right.
03:21So we're back in settings and we're going to go ahead and scroll down to advanced.
03:24So there's a lot of cool stuff in here that we can do.
03:26I would definitely set up the smart key.
03:28So we do have, we can set it up to be a customizable application or open Google assistant just
03:34by double tapping the power button.
03:38What is the weather like today?
03:40Wednesday.
03:41It'll be mostly.
03:42So we can access that really quickly or we can set it to do a customizable application
03:47and you can say I can choose any application that I have installed on my phone.
03:52So now when I go ahead and double tap, you can see it gets me to my YouTube application
04:00or whatever I want to very quickly.
04:02So that's something that I also really like as well too.
04:06And then you also have a gesture to be able to just long press your power button as well.
04:13We can also do the same thing, Google assistant or a customizable application.
04:17I'll just leave it to Google assistant here.
04:20And then we also have a swipe for quick access and stuff like that.
04:24All right.
04:25So next we're going to go ahead and check out the game genie as well.
04:31This is pretty cool.
04:33I went over this when you play games, it'll pop up, which I will show you.
04:39But the edge tool is also on here as well too.
04:41It's kind of like Samsung's edge panel.
04:44It's not a ton of stuff.
04:45You can see it's a little slit on the side.
04:49You can barely see it, but you can see I can access applications.
04:53I can mess with these settings.
04:56Slide it over again, edit.
04:59I can add applications and stuff here.
05:03So it's just a quick way to get to applications.
05:06Let's say if you're in another application.
05:09So it's just a quick way to access stuff and bring up.
05:13You can see I brought it up in the multitasking as well too.
05:16So this is a quick way to access things without having to do the multitasking.
05:22Because if you would have did it like that, you can see I wouldn't have to do it like
05:25that.
05:29And just doing it through the edge way just made it way easier to bring up two applications
05:36at once.
05:38And then also, even if this is not in your multitasking box, you still have that application
05:44there.
05:45So overall, it is definitely quicker.
05:47So I would recommend using it if you are a diehard multitasker, because it just makes
05:52sense.
05:53So next is the one-handed mode.
05:54So when you're in settings, you're just going to come to the settings search and type one,
05:58and it'll bring you to the one-handed mode.
06:00All right.
06:02So basically with the one-handed mode, they have it set up.
06:05You can pinch the screen or pull the screen into reach.
06:08So basically, like if I'm in Chrome, I go ahead and do a slide down like that.
06:16And then it brings the screen like further down so I can click on something.
06:21So that's kind of like the idea of it.
06:25And then I just click off to go back.
06:33And then you have an option for show notifications, one-handed mode shortcut as well too.
06:38So I like this.
06:39I think it's more consistent, especially if you're going to use it a lot, right?
06:45So just have the button there.
06:48This is for people that use it a lot.
06:49Otherwise, you might not want it in the way.
06:52But if you do use it a lot, you have that button there.
06:55It does make it like 10 times easier to do.
06:58So if the phone is still too big for you, then you have that option there.
07:04And then you have your sensitivity here.
07:06You can raise it to low or high, depending on how you like it, you just have to get a
07:10feel for it.
07:11All right, guys.
07:12Another cool setting is the double back tap or the back double tap.
07:17So it's also an advanced setting.
07:19You can just type double, and you can go ahead and turn that on.
07:23And what this will do is it gives you a ton of gestures.
07:25So we have screenshot, open camera, flashlight, screen recorder, Google Assistant, multimedia.
07:30I think this would be best for screenshot or opening the camera.
07:33So we just tap the back of the phone, and it took a screenshot.
07:38So you don't really have to think about taking screenshots, like do some gesture or something
07:42like that, like other phones.
07:45This one just has that back, so you can see.
07:47Now I have it to open camera, if I want to open my camera real quick.
07:55And you kind of have to get a feel for it.
07:58So it takes a little time.
08:00There we go.
08:02But that's also a very cool feature to have on here as well, too.
08:07And I want to go ahead and talk about something that I really like, the audio wizard on here.
08:15So if you're a big music fan, since this phone does have a headphone jack, yeah, you can
08:20play with these settings, dynamic audio on here.
08:23You can see a game mode, cinema, and then you have your equalizer.
08:27You can tune the bass and treble.
08:29So I really like how they have this set up.
08:31It's really well done as well, too.
08:34Also down here in our settings menu or quick toggles, we can actually edit our quick toggles
08:42as well, too, and drag and rearrange them.
08:50So that's really nice.
08:52And then we also have our power menu here, which is really nice, because you might be
08:58wondering, well, how do I turn the phone off since I'm using that quick gesture or that
09:02long press gesture?
09:03You would just turn the phone off with the power button right here.
09:06So you can actually do a lockdown, power off, restart, and screenshot also from here as
09:10well, too.
09:11So that takes care of that issue right there.
09:14All right, so here is another cool thing in the camera.
09:18So I'm going to show you guys.
09:20And it's basically like a gimbal mode here.
09:22So we're going to go down, settings, and then you can see stabilization guide.
09:29So if you're trying to take a video of something moving really fast, like you're at an event,
09:34like a sport event or something like that, you can turn stabilization guide on, and you
09:38can see, when taking photos and video, keep the small dots inside the circle for optimal
09:42stabilization.
09:44When gimbal stabilization is active, zoom ratio is also just going to zoom in a little
09:49bit.
09:50It's basically what it's saying.
09:51An indicator will be displayed on the screen.
09:53Portrait and slow, slow-mo modes do not support the gimbal.
09:57So when you are recording video, you should now see these little dots right here.
10:02So when you're trying to, you should be like, if you're tracking something moving really
10:06quickly, you can see like those little dots will keep it, and it'll be a really smooth
10:11video other than, otherwise, you know, then you leaving these settings on default, not
10:16changing it.
10:17So you just have overall better, smoother video for things that are moving fast.
10:21All right, so what else do I want to talk about here?
10:25Everything else is pretty much, just pretty much just your normal Android.
10:31So there's not a ton of stuff with this phone.
10:36The quick sliding thing, yeah, we already did that.
10:39Yeah, so everything else is pretty much default.
10:42I had somebody ask about like the colors and stuff like that.
10:51So I can kind of change the colors how I want it.
11:04So it's not like a heavy customizable phone.
11:07It's not like Samsung phone where I can, you know, do heavy customization and stuff like
11:12that.
11:15You can see the color also changed.
11:16I think that was what he was asking me about.
11:18Yeah, so that's pretty much it.
11:20Those are your tips and tricks.
11:21Be sure to let me know what you guys think, and I'll catch you guys in the next one.
