00:00What's up guys so I was reading a review of the Galaxy A54 and a lot of people
00:05asked me Matt why do you always recommend older flagship phones and I
00:10typically like to recommend them over mid-range phones so I'm not saying all
00:14mid-range phones are bad I have a few mid-range phones that I'm actually gonna
00:17make a few videos about coming up that I actually like but most mid-range phones
00:21are just not as good as an older flagship like on this channel we're
00:25looking for you know trying to get the most value out of our money right so
00:30Galaxy A54 review I was go ahead and read this in one of the main things so a
00:35list of pros but the main thing when you're buying a phone because most people
00:40especially in America they don't upgrade phones every year right the last thing
00:45you want your phone to be is laggy right performance occasionally feels stutter
00:49that's one of the big cons about the A54 and it's why it's because Samsung
00:53moved to the really crappy Exynos chipset so mid-range chips in general
00:59even even if they were like the A53 had the snapdragon chip right this I didn't
01:04think the snapdragon chip as far as a chip was good was more smooth than a
01:10galaxy note 10 plus with snapdragon 855 so the A53 I can't remember the exact
01:15chip number but that had a snapdragon chip but it just didn't feel as smooth
01:19as a note 10 plus with a 855 not only that but it didn't run games anywhere
01:24near as good as well to you so that's one thing that I reckon like to
01:28recommend to people is that older flagship phones will still play games
01:31better games better than you know mid-range phones a new mid-range phone
01:35in Samsung moving to the Exynos I can just tell you without even buying a
01:40phone I already know it's gonna be stuttering and lagging all over the
01:42place right also look at the price a phone that I highly recommend the s21
01:49ultra for anybody looking for older flagship phone you can see around $400
01:54depending it varies on where you want to get it from eBay or wherever a lot of
01:58people like to go to swap or whatever but I typically like to go with Amazon
02:02eBay so look at the a54 typically around this price point and I might buy the
02:08phone to do a battery drain test because a lot of people are saying well the
02:11battery is a lot better I don't think so because I'm still getting it easily
02:16around six hours of screen on time on the s21 ultra and this is a refurbished
02:19version alright so another argument people like to say is well Matt mid-range
02:23phones get are gonna have longer software updates older phones don't get
02:27software updates well that's not necessarily the case especially with
02:31Samsung right so Samsung they pledged a four-year major OS update in five years
02:37of security patches so that means a phone like the galaxy s21 ultra here it
02:43launched with Android 11 I believe so that means it will get up to Android 15
02:50and I want to go ahead and double check when I'm pretty positive so it launches
02:55with Android yeah Android 11 it'll get Android 15 and then it will get five
03:01years of security patches so you have a extremely long lifespan on this phone
03:06and like I said you don't want to get you can get an s22 or s22 standard
03:12version super cheap s21s are going for crazy cheap s21 FE's like it makes no
03:19sense to get a galaxy a54 so the last point that I want to make is that with
03:24an s21 ultra it's still a flagship phone even when you compare it to the s23
03:30ultra the newest galaxy phone out right now there's a lot pretty much similar
03:36with these two phones they're both fast they both have beautiful displays some
03:40of the best spec'd out displays super bright you won't find a mid-range phone
03:44Samsung desktop support and all of the flagship features reverse wireless
03:49charging wireless charging is here the s21 ultra even has pin support and not
03:55only that but the biggest thing with people when they're buying phones is
03:59that they want to know what is the phone fast can I play video games on it yes
04:03this is a superior gaming device compared to a 54 ways way way better not
04:09only that but the cameras you still get a high-quality camera check out the s21
04:14ultra versus the s23 ultra look at the side-by-side image quality s21 ultra is
04:21still pretty good compared to the s23 ultra and you still have all the fancy
04:26features like the hundred times zoom the crazy 8k video recording just it's just
04:32a fantastic phone overall so it just it really makes no sense to spend the money
04:37you know and get an inferior device in almost every regard but I want to know
