00:00Now, today I wanted to talk about the Galaxy S20 Ultra.
00:03This is a phone that I actually don't get a ton of requests
00:06to take a look at.
00:07It's usually the Note 20 Ultra,
00:09but I think that this phone is such a fantastic phone.
00:12I actually think it's better than the Note 20 Ultra
00:15in a few ways, actually.
00:16So, one is that the price is just way, way cheaper, right?
00:22You can find this, you know, new 300 bucks,
00:25as you can see right there,
00:26and then you can find these easily,
00:28like 237, good condition.
00:32It's just way cheaper than the Galaxy, the Note 20,
00:35which is still trending, let's see,
00:38it might still be trending around 400.
00:42Okay, so the price has, yeah, it has not really come down.
00:45Excellent condition, yeah.
00:46It's still trending around that $400 price point
00:50for the most part here,
00:51for like an actual good condition one.
00:54You can see like a good one here is 334, so not bad,
00:58but the S20 is just gonna be at least,
01:02you know, $100, $150 cheaper for sure, if not $200.
01:06So, this is such a fantastic phone,
01:09and I'm always kind of, you know,
01:11puzzled at why a lot of people don't like this phone.
01:14I think a large part of it has to do with the cameras.
01:17So, let's actually touch on that first.
01:19So, I think the cameras are pretty good on here.
01:21This phone does have,
01:23well, it did have like a kind of like a focusing problem,
01:26and it still does, like I kind of notice it sometimes,
01:30but it's not anything to where it's detrimental
01:32to the photo quality or just the experience in general here.
01:37It still has a 108 megapixel standard.
01:39It's got a 48 megapixel telephoto,
01:41has four times optical zoom and 10 times hybrid zoom.
01:44This was the first phone to do the 100 times,
01:47you know, space zoom thing.
01:49And then we also have on here,
01:51we do have the 0.3 depth sensor, 12 megapixel ultra wide,
01:54shoots in 8K 24, and then the 40 megapixel selfie cam
01:58on the front and shoots in 4K 60 as well.
02:01The photos on the S20 are still pretty good.
02:05As you guys can see, my only issue with this phone is that,
02:08again, like the selfies, again, come out kind of,
02:11it does it on the Note 20 as well too,
02:13where it just does that weird kind of skin lightening thing.
02:17But the actual selfies and the actual shots,
02:20image quality-wise are still pretty good.
02:23If you're in like good lighting,
02:24you can get some fantastic shots out of this phone.
02:26It's very impressive.
02:28I got shots of the moon.
02:30It's just a really, really good, you know, camera phone.
02:34Video is also really solid on this phone as well too.
02:37Absolutely think the cameras are fantastic.
02:40Yeah, it does have kind of like a focusing issue sometimes.
02:43Yes, but it's not anything to where I think
02:46it makes the camera experience like super, you know,
02:49negative for the most part.
02:51So yeah, I do really, you know, dig the cameras on here.
02:54Now, the thing that makes this phone,
02:57I think, better than the Note
02:58is that it's way easier to hold,
03:01especially for a phone that's, you know, extremely big,
03:04right, it's a 6.9 inch phone.
03:07It's a dynamic AMOLED, 120 Hertz, HDR10+,
03:101400 nits peak brightness.
03:12It's 1440p for the max resolution.
03:14And again, you can only use 120 Hertz and 1080p.
03:17But this phone is like,
03:18it's way easier to hold than the Note.
03:20And this is coming from someone with, you know,
03:22smaller hands and stuff like that.
03:23So I just really like holding this phone
03:26and how it feels in the hand.
03:28It has those curved edges so it's not all sharp
03:31like the Note or, you know,
03:34and it's kind of sad that Samsung moved to,
03:36you know, the Note form factor,
03:39which I think looks aesthetically better.
03:41I think it's more pleasing to the eye.
03:43It looks more like a TV,
03:44but this is just way more comfortable to hold in the hand.
03:48So, you know, that's something that I've always appreciated.
03:50But that kind of sets way into the hardware on here.
03:54A lot of people think that the design on the S series,
03:58you know, in general has a very bland design.
04:02I don't know what it is.
04:03I don't know why Samsung went with such a bland design
04:05this year, but I think it still looks nice.
04:07It's just very, it's very, very boring.
04:10And maybe this gray color is not really, you know, doing it.
04:14But yeah, it just has a very boring design.
04:18You know, looking at it in 2024, it's very safe design.
04:20Like Samsung wanted to play it extremely safe.
04:23But the cool thing about this phone
04:25is that you do have micro SD card support
04:27on board as well too.
04:29It's got 128 gigs of internal storage and 12 gigs of RAM.
04:32It's IP68 dust and water resistant.
04:35And like I said, very comfortable to hold as well.
04:38The weight distribution, you know,
04:40you're not getting a ton away from this camera
04:42to where it's like, it feels funny.
04:45It's just, I do really like how the phone feels in the hand.
04:48I don't think it looks that bad though.
04:49What do you guys think?
04:50Another cool thing about the S20 Ultra
04:52is that the gaming performance is very good on here.
04:55And it also has better battery life
04:57than the Note 20 Ultra as well.
04:59So, you know, it's a pretty interesting,
05:01as we saw with that battery drain test,
05:03this phone did a fantastic job.
05:05You can see we got smooth 90 frames on here.
05:09It's really, really buttery smooth,
05:10the gaming performance on here.
05:12So like I said, you got that big price difference
05:14as well too, of it being, you know, $150 to $200 cheaper.
05:19And, you know, I know this is especially beneficial
05:21for my guys that are overseas and stuff like that,
05:23where the budget is really important
05:26because of the currency conversion, all that stuff.
05:28But yeah, I just think this is a fantastic,
05:31I really think this is an overlooked phone, guys.
05:34Especially if you don't need the S Pen,
05:36if you don't care about like the kind of boxy display.
05:40I mean, this phone is fantastic when it comes to gaming.
05:43You can really do some competitive gaming on here
05:46for relatively cheap.
05:47It's still gonna do much better than, you know,
05:49any mid-range budget phone for the most part.
05:52Now here are the Geekbench scores,
05:54if you guys want to compare to your phone.
05:57So you guys can see how it compares in single
06:00and multi-core scores here.
06:02And yeah, it's still very fast and fluid.
06:04So this phone, it got its last major update
06:07with Android 13, One UI 5.1.
06:10And it's only getting security patches from now on.
06:13So just do note that, it just, you know,
06:15exactly like the Note, but yeah.
06:17This phone is blazing, blazing fast.
06:20S20 does have stereo speakers on here
06:22and they are pretty decent sounding.

06:36So you got pretty good sounding stereo speakers on here, really good amount of bass, the top
06:50speaker is actually really good as well too.
06:54And then we also have our ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on here, which works fine.
06:59And then we also do have our face unlock which also works great as well too.
07:04And this of course comes with all the bells and whistles like Samsung desktop support
07:08and you know etc.
07:09So overall it's a very good phone when it comes to giving you that flagship features
07:15and quality for a relatively cheap price.
07:19Now lastly, the battery life on this phone is pretty good, the standby time is awesome
07:24as we saw with the battery drain test, it shocked a lot of people including myself.
07:29The phone almost I think got second place to the S24 Ultra, I think it was like 7 hours
07:35of playing PUBG or something like that for the screen on time, it was absolutely insane.
07:40The battery life is very very good on this phone, it's got a 5000 mAh battery, it's
07:46got 45 watt charging on here, it's got wireless and reverse wireless charging.
07:51The battery is very very good on here, like I said good standby time, it's much better
07:56than the Note 20 Ultra as well too.
07:59So overall I think this is a very underrated phone, I think it gets a bad rap for the cameras
08:06and stuff like that, which I understand but I don't think the focusing issue is really
08:10that bad, and yeah overall it's just a fantastic phone.
08:15If you don't need the S Pen, I would get this phone easily, it's cheaper, it's way more
08:21comfortable to hold, the battery life is better, it's just a really really awesome device.
