00:00Alright guys, so the other day we talked about the Note 20 Ultra.
00:03So let's talk about the S20 Ultra because if you didn't like the Note 20 Ultra because
00:07of some of the things we were talking about, the design, the price, all that good stuff,
00:12this phone is a great alternative.
00:14One of the main things, because I know everybody was tripping about it being close to $400,
00:19this is a much cheaper phone and this is just Amazon prices on eBay, Swappa.
00:23This is going to be cheaper in the USA and I believe even still overseas as well too.
00:29You can see this is close to around $300, so it's like a $100 difference from the Note
00:3420 Ultra and that's pretty much because the Note 20 Ultra has the built-in stylus.
00:39But like I said, if you guys don't necessarily care about the stylus, then this is a great
00:43alternative because it's $100 cheaper.
00:46So that is really awesome.
00:47Alright, so the main thing that I absolutely love about the S20 Ultra is the actual design.
00:54I think Samsung went really plain on the design of the S20 Ultra series in general, but what
01:01I miss about the S series phones before it got merged to the Galaxy Note design is basically
01:08these phones are much easier to hold for people with smaller hands.
01:12They're not as boxy as the Note phones.
01:15So even though this is a big phone at 6.9 inches, I can still hold this and it's still
01:21comfortable because the edges don't cut into the hand and it's just overall easier to hold
01:27for me.
01:28So way more comfortable.
01:29That's one of the main things that I really look for in phones is like, is this thing
01:33comfortable because these phones are massive guys.
01:36Alright, so the design on here, and again, I don't think it's not Samsung's best design.
01:42Just very plain looking.
01:44But yeah, it's a pretty solid design.
01:46It feels good in the hand.
01:48Like I said, I love the curves on here.
01:51And also, you do have IP68 dust and water resistant, aluminum frame, glass back.
01:56It's a very well built phone.
01:57I think it still looks pretty decent.
01:59Like I said, it's just like the color options that they put out with this and the overall
02:04design just looks like plain compared to the S10 and the S21.
02:08It's just kind of plain.
02:09It doesn't really have, you know, that unique sort of design feel to it.

02:16Where this phone shines is the display.
02:19Like I said, these phones are way more easier to hold and when you're just navigating the
02:24phone or just looking at content, this is a really nice display.
02:28I really love the display design on this phone.
02:32So it's a 6.9 inch display and so it's a massive phone.
02:35It's Dynamic AMOLED, 120Hz HDR10+, 1400 nits peak brightness, got the punch hole in the
02:41middle.
02:42It's a full 1440p.
02:43Just like the Note 20 Ultra, this can only do the 120Hz at 1080p but it's an absolutely
02:50beautiful display, guys.
02:52The Samsung, older Samsung flagship displays are absolutely gorgeous still.
02:58Even if you go back as far as like the Note 9, Note 10+, Samsung makes some of the best
03:02displays on their flagships.
03:05If you guys see the shorts that I do, you can see just compared to the S23 Ultra, these
03:10displays still look awesome.
03:12So that's one of my favorite things about these Samsung phones is Samsung always does
03:15a fantastic job with the displays on their phones.
03:19So this is no exception.
03:20It's still very bright outdoors too and like I said, very easy to hold and to navigate
03:26even though it's a bigger phone here.
03:28Now this phone does have a curved design on here as well too so it has that slightly curved
03:34feel to it which some people like, some people don't like.
03:39But yeah, I think it still looks great.
03:41Very bright, very colorful and I have no issues with the display.
03:45It still looks awesome, you know, even in 2023.
03:49Now one of the best things about the S20 Ultra and the Note 20 Ultra is that it has the Snapdragon
03:54865 chip on here.
03:56So this phone, and this is one of the highlights of owning an older flagship phone is that
04:01you still pretty much get the same performance you would find in like an S23 Ultra for gaming.
04:07It still does an extremely good job when it comes to gaming, we're able to play Call of
04:11Duty at really good settings, as you can see ultra frame rates on here and the same thing
04:17goes for PUBG, we can play PUBG at 90 frames.
04:20This is a fantastic chip, it's a fantastic gaming phone, it doesn't get super, super
04:24hot like, you know, something like an S21 Ultra or even the S22 Ultra.
04:31The A-series chips in just general like the 888 and the HN1, those phones can get a little
04:37bit hot, but I noticed just playing games and video recording, this phone is not like,
04:43I've never had this phone crash or like start lagging and stuff like that.
04:47It's a very efficient chip, absolutely love the chip and the same thing goes for bouncing
04:51in and out of applications, whatever you're doing on here, video editing, it still feels
04:56like a, you know, a fairly new phone still and that's one thing that, you know, I love
05:00about these phones is that compared to a Galaxy A54, it just runs circles around it, this
05:06chipset.
05:07So, it's just a really good deal in 2023 to pick one of these up, especially if you're
05:13trying to, you know, do competitive gaming for the cheap, this is really your best option.
05:17I think this is better than most mid-range phones, you know, just in general because
05:22it all comes together, the good chip, the display, the hardware, everything just gives,
05:27feels like a really good premium experience still.
05:30So that's why I like to recommend these over mid-range phones.
05:32Now when it comes to, like I said, the performance, bouncing in and out of applications, very
05:37easy on here, no issues at all when it comes to performance on here.
05:42So that's one thing that I really like.
05:44This phone still feels really fast, still to this day and also when it comes to your
05:49additional features, you still pretty much have everything on here that you would find
05:53on an S23 Ultra as far as Samsung DeX support, reverse wireless charging, Dolby Atmos, everything
05:59is still pretty much on here so you're not really missing out on anything for now until
06:03One UI introduces, you know, some new features or whatever.
06:07But yeah, so the software on this phone, so the S20 series and the Note 20 series got
06:13its last major OS update with Android 13 One UI 5.1 and it's currently getting security
06:20patches right now.
06:22This phone also has microSD card support and it also has 128 gigs of internal storage and
06:2812 gigs of RAM on the base model so that's why these phones are so fast still to this
06:32day.
06:33Even when it comes down to multitasking and stuff like that, it still does a fantastic
06:36job just bouncing in and out of applications.
06:39A very smooth phone, guys.
06:41The speakers are still pretty good on the S20 Ultra, got them at max volume.
06:58So, very good speaker quality on here, also the vibrations on this phone is pretty good
07:15as well too.
07:16So, you're still getting a really good sound experience on this device as well too so I
07:21think that's really good.
07:22Even if you cover the bottom speaker, the top speaker still gives a very good amount
07:28of bass and overall sound so it just sounds really good still.
07:32Still crisp and clear in 2023.
07:35You also have a very fast under the display fingerprint sensor, still feels comparable
07:40to the S23 Ultra and you also have on here a very good face unlock as well too if you
07:45want to use that method.
07:46Now, the S20 Ultra was the first phone that Samsung introduced with the 100x zoom so this
07:53phone can still get those really cool moon shots still.
07:55Now, the 100x zoom has been improved upon with the S21 and S22 and S23 so definitely
08:02has been improved if you guys check out my comparisons but this phone does a pretty good
08:06job.
08:07Like I said, this phone launched with some focusing problems which Samsung has pretty
08:10much fixed a good majority of it but like I said, it was like the first to do this 100x
08:18zoom and all the crazy zooming shots but it still does a very good job at the 10x and
08:2430x zoom as well.
08:26You can still get some very good photos out of this phone still.
08:29You still have the 108 megapixel standard so you still have that full high resolution
08:34photos that you can zoom into and still get a ton of detail with.
08:37It's got a 48 megapixel periscope telephoto, that's 4x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, 12
08:43megapixel ultrawide, the 0.3 depth sensor is here and it still shoots in 8K 24 with
08:48a 40 megapixel selfie cam that shoots in 4K 60 so the camera does not really seem outdated
08:54when it comes to the specifications.
08:57Like I said, I think this is more than enough for your average person.
09:01Still great video, still really good stills.
09:04Like I said, the only difference is the 100x zoom quality has been better as Samsung has
09:10been working on it so if you're really into zoom, this like I said, it's the first implementation
09:15of it.
09:16It does a decent job but if you really like the zoom shots, I would go for like S21 Ultra,
09:20S22 Ultra.
09:21I think it really does a really, really good job but this still takes really good shots
09:26guys.
09:27Even for an older flagship, the detail was there, the color science still looks really
09:33good on here.
09:35I just don't see anybody buying this phone and be like the photos are bad or it just
09:40looks like a photo that came out in 2023.
09:43It does a pretty good job.
09:45Like I said, the only difference is, the biggest difference is that the newer phones do much
09:49better in like night photography and like more lower light setting.
09:54Other than that, it does a fantastic job in daytime.
09:58It's still really, really nice looking as you guys can see from the shots.
10:01Now, the S20 Ultra still does a really good job with battery life.
10:04I would argue even better than the Note 20 Ultra.
10:08It has a pretty big size battery, a 5000 mAh battery.
10:12It also has 45 watt charging on here so it charges pretty quick as well too and then
10:16you have the wireless and reverse wireless charging.
10:18It does a pretty good job.
10:19I'm able to get a full 6 hours of screen on time out of this phone pretty easily.
10:24So it's just a fantastic phone.
10:26So like I said, for those of you who are choosing between the Note 20 Ultra and the S20 Ultra,
10:31if you don't think you're going to use the stylus, you're saving like an extra hundred
10:35bucks, right, since it's cheaper.
10:38And also, you get the, you know, slightly better zoom, right?
10:43And I think this phone is just easier to hold.
10:46So that's one thing that I really like about it.
10:48Other than that, they're pretty much similar in everything else.
