The start of the evening is generally dry and clear for England and Wales but heavy rain and strong winds affect Northern Ireland and Scotland. As the night progresses the rainband moves to the north-east, moving the heavy rain and strongest winds to the north of Scotland while it becomes increasingly cloudy in England and Wales. An amber warning is in-force for strong winds in Scotland this evening.

00:00Hello, we've had Storm Ashley cross the UK through Sunday, bringing some very strong
00:05and gusty winds, especially towards the north west of the UK. So this is the deep area of
00:10low pressure, Storm Ashley moving its way eastwards. You can see a real squeeze in those
00:14isobars, indicating some strong and gusty winds, especially across parts of northern
00:20Scotland as we go through Monday morning. Lighter winds then developing further towards
00:25the south, but we do have this cold front that will just bring in some cloud and outbreaks
00:29of rain through Monday towards the south east. But back to this evening and overnight, still
00:35some heavy spells of rain across Northern Ireland into Scotland with strong gusty winds.
00:40We've still got warnings in for gusts of 70, possibly 80 miles per hour, so there could
00:45be some difficult driving conditions there and some coastal impact as well. The strongest
00:50winds then transfer their way eastwards, affecting northern parts of Scotland, especially into
00:55Orkney and Shetland later as Storm Ashley moves its way towards the north and east.
01:01Towards the south of that though, clearer skies developing into Monday morning, but
01:05largely cloudy towards the far south east, where we may see some outbreaks of rain across
01:09the channel to start Monday morning. But otherwise, temperatures really generally around 10 or
01:1511 degrees to start Monday. But it's still going to be a windy start out there, gusts
01:2050, possibly 60 miles per hour across northern parts of Scotland. Behind that, blustery showers
01:26moving through into Scotland and towards Northern Ireland. Towards the south of that though,
01:31into northern England, Wales, southwest England, turning much brighter with some sunny spells.
01:37The odd shower may develop, but towards the far south east, cloudier here, especially
01:43across east Anglia and towards London as well, with perhaps some outbreaks of rain that could
01:49turn quite heavy at times. Otherwise, temperatures perhaps just a notch down from Sunday. Highs
01:55of 15 or 16 degrees, but we have got lighter winds out there further towards the north,
02:0113 in Northern Ireland, 11 or 12 across Scotland. So as we go through Monday evening, showers
02:09continuing across Northern Ireland into Scotland, they'll gradually start sinking their way
02:13southwards. So as we go through the early hours of Tuesday, we'll see showers developing
02:18more so across parts of Wales and northern England to start Tuesday morning. Behind and
02:24in front of that, though, it is a mixture of clear skies and that will lead to some
02:29bright skies to Tuesday. Otherwise, temperatures may fall just a touch. We could see lows of
02:34eight or nine degrees. So there will be plenty of brightness to start Tuesday morning, a
02:40few showers around, especially across parts of Wales and then into the Midlands as we
02:45go into the late morning and into the afternoon. But otherwise, actually, a good deal of sunny
02:51spells with a few showers developing, but lighter winds out there on Tuesday to otherwise
02:57say temperatures still around average, if not a little bit mild towards the south where
03:03we catch the sunshine highs of 16 or 17 degrees. But that is all from me for now. Make sure
