00:00It's been another day of heavy and persistent rain and that combination
00:04continues to cause problems. Met Office weather warnings remain in place through
00:08Monday evening. This amber warning area where further flooding is very likely
00:14further problems on the roads. Certainly a lot of spray and surface water, some
00:19dangerous floodwater lying around as well. Power cuts are possible, small
00:24communities may be cut off. The rain will ease a little bit as we go through the
00:29night. A good place to check is our Weather Ready website. Much more
00:34information on there about how to handle floods and how to prepare for flooding
00:39as well for future reference. Of course with changing climate, rainfall events
00:45like we've seen over recent days becoming more and more likely. As we go
00:49through the night though, as I said, the rain will at least start to ease across
00:52these central parts. We'll continue with some outbreaks of rain over eastern
00:56England, generally turning dry across Wales, southern Scotland, Northern Ireland.
01:01By and large it's been a fine day across Scotland and Northern Ireland but rain is now
01:05creeping in across northern Scotland accompanied by a brisk north-easterly
01:09wind. Temperatures will stay in double digits for the vast majority with some
01:13clearer skies across northern and western Scotland. We made it down to single
01:16figures. On to Tuesday and overall a much much drier day. Could still start
01:20pretty wet over parts of East Anglia and then around the London area and across
01:24Kent. But rain should be clearing pretty much by the time we get to the morning
01:29rush hour. Rain will be continuing across northern Scotland and a few heavier
01:32showers likely across southeast Scotland and a scattering of showers across
01:37northern England and Wales. But certainly in the areas worst affected by the
01:40flooding it looks a lot drier tomorrow. May brighten up at times as well. A bit
01:45of sunshine coming through and a little bit of sunshine will lift the
01:48temperatures into the high teens maybe. But feeling pretty chilly with that
01:51breeze coming down from the north across northern Scotland. 10 or 11 here at best
01:56and feeling even colder with the outbreaks of rain. They may ease a little
02:00bit as we head into the evening but some further heavy showers likely over
02:03southern Scotland since maybe the far north of England. Generally though again
02:07turning drier as we go through the evening with some lengthy clear skies
02:11and with the air coming down from the north that's a pretty chilly direction.
02:15So temperatures will be dipping down close to freezing in some rural parts
02:18across Scotland for sure and widely colder than Monday night. In the south we
02:24should again hold up into double figures. A bit more cloud here. In fact behind me
02:28more cloud and rain. That's a sign of things to come as we head through the
02:32rest of the week. Coming up from the southwest we'll see the cloud thickening.
02:36Some outbreaks of rain already across the southwest and then we'll see more
02:40rain spreading in here late in the day. A few showers likely over northern
02:44England and southern Scotland and still some outbreaks of rain across northern
02:48Scotland but actually a good part of the country will be dry for most of
02:51Wednesday afternoon until this more persistent rain comes in from the
02:55southwest. That will eventually bring some milder air as well but we're
02:59starting pretty chilly on Wednesday and temperatures even with a bit of
03:02brightness in the afternoon mostly only in the low teens. That wet weather in the
03:06southwest is all part of a bigger weather system. This low will dominate
03:11our weather through Wednesday night and indeed for much of Thursday bringing
03:14further outbreaks of rain. It kind of breaks into two before clearing away and notice
03:19then as it does start to pull away to the south and the east it allows the
03:24ice bars to open up from the north and that will allow northerly winds to come
03:28back in. So it turns a little chilly air for Wednesday but colder air may well
03:32arrive by the time we get to Friday and into Saturday. For more details on that
