दिल्ली: केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने राष्ट्रीय पुलिस स्मारक पर पुलिस स्मृति दिवस को संबोधित करते हुए कहा, "मैं कृतज्ञ राष्ट्र की ओर से 216 पुलिसकर्मियों को हृदय से श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करता हूं और उनके परिवारों को आश्वस्त करना चाहता हूं कि जिस उद्देश्य के लिए आपके प्रियजनों ने अपना सर्वोच्च बलिदान दिया है, उसे हम विफल नहीं होने देंगे। चाहे कितनी भी कठिनाइयां या आपदाएं क्यों न आए, हम राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के अपने मिशन को कमजोर नहीं पड़ने देंगे। हमारे पुलिस बल में राष्ट्र की सुरक्षा के लिए सर्वोच्च बलिदान देने की सतत परंपरा रही है और हमारा गौरवशाली इतिहास रहा है। हिमालय की ऊंची चोटियों से लेकर कच्छ और बाड़मेर के कठोर रेगिस्तानों तक और हमारे विशाल समुद्र की सुरक्षा में ये बहादुर सैनिक ही हैं जो हमारे देश की सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करते हैं। इस कार्यक्रम के माध्यम से मैं जनता को बताना चाहता हूं कि पिछले एक दशक में कश्मीर, वामपंथी उग्रवाद और पूर्वोत्तर के क्षेत्र, जो वर्षों से चिंता का कारण रहे हैं, हमारे सैनिकों की प्रतिबद्धता और समर्पण के कारण लगभग पूर्ण शांति की ओर अग्रसर हुए हैं।"
