00:00Which hybrid smartwatch should you get? Here are my top picks and why.
00:10Good day, you beautiful people! Welcome to Issa Does Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:14First off, I'm holding up the mic in this video because there's so many things happening outside
00:18and I feel like this would give you a better audio experience. But yes, welcome! Today's video took me
00:23years in the making. Well, not really, but I've always had this idea to make this video for years
00:30and for one reason or the other, it just kept on being pushed back. But now we're here and I'm
00:33finally doing it. I'm talking about my top smartwatch picks, hybrid edition. Let me emphasize,
00:38I'm talking about hybrid smartwatches and I gravitate towards hybrid smartwatches for a
00:44couple of reasons. Number one, battery lasts way longer. I cannot with one-day smartwatch batteries.
00:51And number two, a lot of the hybrid smartwatches just look so good to my eyes. They're legitimately
00:57proper looking watches. And so those two considerations together with smart features
01:02and fitness tracking features. Come on guys, I'm trying to get more fit. These are the criteria I
01:06have for picking out my top watches. And yes, let me know that these are just smartwatches that I've
01:13had experiences with. If you guys have suggestions or recommendations on great hybrid smartwatches,
01:18comment down below. I'll check them out. Anyway, in no particular order, let's start.
01:25My first watch on the list is a watch that has been on my wrist for the last week. None other
01:31than the Garmin Vivo Move Trend. Now let me tell you about this watch. First off, yes, it's a Garmin,
01:36but it's the Garmin for someone who'd want something on their wrists that sort of looks not
01:42too sporty, if you get what I mean. What's interesting about this watch is while it features
01:47mechanical arms, yeah I love my arms mechanical, it also has a monochrome LCD screen behind those
01:53arms. And get this, on top of all that, like literally on top of all that, it's a touchscreen watch.
02:10So first off, this watch honestly looks good. I mean that really is the point of this list,
02:14right? We're looking for the best looking good smartwatches. A lot of the time when people see
02:18me wearing this watch, they just think it's a normal watch. They don't think that until they
02:23see the screen, and then at that point, they're just mind blown. I love that it's casual looking
02:27enough that I can wear it to every day and still wear it while working out, more on the fitness
02:32tracking stuff later. But yeah, it looks good and I can wear it with any outfit, even if it be a
02:37smart casual outfit or an event outfit, it'll work. The watch itself is around 40 millimeters, which
02:44means it's not so big, and it also means that it's just right for my teeny wrists. Again, this watch
02:49is so average size that I think people could mistake it for a random normal watch. Like I
02:55mentioned, this thing has been on my wrist for a while, and that means that it's also very comfortable.
03:00It's a little lightweight, which is honestly perfect if you're someone who'd like to sleep track.
03:04Now I do have the cream gold version, which I absolutely love. But in terms of design and strap
03:09options, Garmin's got you. Garmin actually has a whole Vivo Move line. This is the Vivo Move trend,
03:15but there are different other Vivo Move watches, and this line includes the Vivo Move Luxe, which
03:22is an even more elevated version of this. Like this watch has leather straps, Italian leather straps.
03:28And so yes, there are different design options and color options to choose from within this Vivo
03:34Move line. Just take note though that those different Vivo Move styles also have slightly
03:39varying features between them. But yes, you can definitely take your pick.
03:45In terms of connectivity, this watch works via the Garmin Connect app, and you can connect it
03:50to your Android or iOS device. This watch has a host of smart features. That includes contactless
03:55payments on Garmin Pay. You can also reply to messages if you're connected to an Android phone.
04:01Unfortunately though, this watch features neither a mic nor a speaker, so there's no answering phone
04:07calls for you on this watch. Health tracking wise, this is a Garmin after all. It of course tracks a
04:13host of different exercises. You get SpO2 tracking, respiration rate tracking, heart rate tracking.
04:19There's sleep tracking, hydration tracking. There's no GPS on the watch, but there's tethered GPS,
04:25meaning with your smartphone, it'll track your runs with GPS. Of course, this watch being a Garmin,
04:30you can connect this to Strava as well. Now, I've been starting out my running journey as I was
04:36testing these smart watches for this video, and I'd say that this Garmin watch is definitely the
04:41go-to watch for fitness stuff. Like, there is a reason that fitness people gravitate towards Garmins.
04:48This is a strong contender for a smart watch if you're someone who's really into fitness, but also
04:54want something that looks good. Now, in terms of battery, Garmin claims five days of battery time
04:59on this, and there's a watch mode which they say would extend your battery time to six days.
05:05Based on my use cases, this thing lasts me around four days. That's with notifications, fitness
05:11tracking, smartphone connections. And just to note that battery consumption when it comes to smart
05:16watches really depends on how you use it and what stuff is turned on on your watch. I'm just telling
05:22you my battery run time so you guys have an idea. Anyway, this watch charges with sort of a clip-on
05:29charger thing, so it's a proprietary Garmin charger for this specific watch. I'm not the
05:34biggest fan of proprietary watch chargers because I'm always afraid I might leave them or lose them.
05:39But what's amazing about the Garmin RevoMove Trend, and this is one of my favorite features about
05:43this watch, is that it's wireless charging enabled. Meaning, when I travel, I don't have to bring a
05:49charger because this thing will charge with any Qi wireless charger. Qi, yeah, that's how you pronounce
05:55it. Qi. Anyway, that's a definite lifesaver because aside from the longer battery time,
06:01it is able to charge without a specific watch charger. Now, who do I recommend the Garmin
06:10RevoMove Trend to? I would recommend the Garmin RevoMove Trend to the girlies who want something
06:15that looks good but want something that can perform in terms of fitness tracking. If you're
06:21someone who runs or bikes or goes to the gym, this is a hybrid smartwatch that I'll definitely want
06:28you to check out. Garmins, I'd say, would still be best for fitness tracking like this, and I'd
06:33recommend that you check out the Garmin RevoMove Trend. I personally have been obsessed with this
06:39watch ever since I got it, and especially now because I'm just starting my running journey.
06:45Let's see if I actually last. For those reasons, I love this watch, but if there's something that
06:50I'd wish to have on this watch, it's more battery time. And I know, I know you guys are gonna say
06:56five or four days of battery time is a lot, but wait till we get to the next watches.
07:04The next watch on the list, the Fossil Gen 6 Hybrid Wellness Edition. So again, this is a cute
07:10looking little watch with physical hands, but what's so amazing about it? You know how those e-readers
07:15never die? Well, that screen is what's on this smartwatch. This Fossil Hybrid reps an e-ink
07:21display and a crazy battery life, and it looks so good.
07:26So I would say that this is a smartwatch that looks most lifestyle to me. Now I have the
07:45Wellness Edition and it comes with this gold case and this pink silicone strap, but you need not
07:50even get the Wellness Edition because there are different other styles. There's even one that's
07:55bejeweled and I have that one and I love it. Now this is a pretty big watch face, but if you're
08:00someone like me who also likes chunky watches, it still looks good on my tiny wrists. Oh and also
08:06that e-ink display, it's also glow-in-the-dark. It's not glow-in-the-dark, there's a backlight to
08:10it so you can see the screen in the dark. So like I said, this watch is a little bigger with a 45
08:15millimeter watch face. And in terms of wearability or comfort, it is a comfy wear, but again if you
08:22have tinier wrists than mine, I'm not sure this watch will work because I am on the last hole on
08:28the strap. And that's not necessarily the snuggest fit, but again if you like chunky watches, it looks
08:34so good. In terms of color options, you can get this in silver, black, rose gold, and there are different
08:39silicone strap options. Not to mention, of course, there are different editions of this Fossil Hybrid
08:45and I gotta be honest, most of them look really really good. In terms of connectivity, this connects
08:52to the Fossil app to your phone and it works with Google Fit or Apple HealthKit. It does health
08:58tracking with an automatic activity tracker. It will track your activity, your step, your sleep,
09:03your heart rate, your blood oxygen level. It also has tethered GPS just like the Garmin watch, which
09:09means that when you run, it will connect to GPS on your phone and you'll get that data as well.
09:15Unfortunately, the one downside of this watch, because again I did try exercising with this, and
09:21yes, while it will record your exercise activity on the Fossil app, it will not connect to Strava,
09:28which for the sporty earlies might be a deal breaker. In terms of smart features, this will give
09:32you your phone notifications of course. This even has Alexa enabled and Google Assistant if you
09:38connect it to an Android phone. Now this thing also has a mic, of course for voice commands because
09:43like I said, it's Alexa or Google Assistant enabled. Always pretty cool on a smartwatch.
09:47Unfortunately, there is no speaker on this, so that also means while you can give the watch
09:53commands, you can't really answer calls on your watch. Now this is crazy, this watch is rated to
09:59run for two to four weeks. Imagine not charging your smartwatch for two to four weeks. With my
10:05personal use, I did reach a two-week mark, which again, amazing. And this thing charges with a proprietary
10:12charging dock. Who do I recommend this watch to? This is for the girly who wants a smartwatch with
10:19all the functionality, and one that will last for longer. I mean two weeks battery time, that's crazy.
10:25It's perfect for travel, and I personally have brought this watch to a lot of trips specifically
10:31because of that. Imagine going on a trip and not having to charge. And again, to be honest, it just
10:36looks so good. All in all, these Fossil Hybrids are to me the perfect marriage of looks and smartwatch
10:42capabilities, coupled with great battery runtime, of course. The third and last hybrid watch on this
10:49list is none other than the Wything Scanwatch 2. Okay, so this thing looks like a normal watch, except
10:54up top there, you see that? That's a little screen that adds the smart functionality on this thing.
11:01Aside from that, this thing has a mind-blowing 30-day battery life, and not to mention the
11:07sensors on this are USFDA approved.
11:23I'd say that of all the watches on this list, this is the tiniest, most classic looking watch. I really
11:29think that this is such a sleek one. In terms of size, this comes in a 38 or a 42 millimeter face,
11:35and I of course have the smaller one. And honestly, because this watch is so sleek and tiny, it's also
11:40one of the comfiest to wear. In terms of color options, you have many, and I have the rose gold
11:46face. Or is it gold? In terms of strap options, this came with this white silicone strap, but like I
11:53also have a leather strap and a mesh gold strap. They all look so good.
12:00So the Scanwatch 2 connects to the Wythings app, and you also have the option for Wythings Plus,
12:06which is the paid version of their app. And this is also compatible to Apple Health, Google Health
12:10Connect, and Google Fit. There's also an option for the Wythings web dashboard. And finally, yes,
12:16this also connects to Strava. Now in terms of smart features, this thing does smart notifications from
12:22your phone. Unfortunately, there's no reply feature on here. It is a tiny little screen where
12:27your notifications show, and there is no keyboard, just this dial on the side. And neither is there
12:33a mic or a speaker on this. This thing, however, does health tracking and does it well because,
12:38like I mentioned, it's one of the very few watches with FDA-approved sensors. So this
12:44thing tracks your sleep, your steps, your heart rate. This thing even has a 24-7 temperature
12:50sensor, which is useful for stuff like menstrual tracking, which this thing also has. You also get
12:55ECG and an SpO2 tracker. Now what's mind-blowing about this sleek little watch is that this thing
13:01offers 30 days of battery time. Dude, that's incredible for a smartwatch. I mean a hybrid
13:07smartwatch, but you get the idea. Now the charging of this thing is pretty interesting. It has this
13:12very unique proprietary clamp thing, which is cool if you look at the watch because it's like,
13:17there's no ports on this. But this is not my favorite charger. That being said though, this
13:22thing has 30 days battery power. I can't deal with a charger I do not like. Who would I recommend
13:28this watch to? For someone who would like to track their health but wants something that's sleek and
13:33looks so good, I would say that in terms of hybrid watches that I've tried, this look is my absolute
13:38favorite. You do get limited smartwatch features, but the sensors on this, the health tracking is on
13:43point. And really, who can argue with a 30-day battery time? That's it for today, you guys. Let me
13:52know what you think. Let me know which hybrid smartwatch is your favorite. Like I said, all of
13:56these recommendations are based on the hybrid smartwatches that I got to test out. If you have
14:01a hybrid smartwatch reco, let me know in the comment section below. That's it for today. If you
