00:00Let's test the S23 Ultra in low light.
00:16Good day, you beautiful people.
00:17Welcome to Isa Das Tech where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:20And we're finally doing it.
00:21We're testing out the cameras of the Samsung S23 Ultra but in the dark.
00:25But before we get into all of that, you may have noticed my new favorite case.
00:28This video's sponsor is Casetify.
00:30And if you don't already know them, they make the nicest, cutest cases.
00:34But they're not just cute.
00:35These cases ensure that your phones are protected all the time.
00:39So especially for big phones like this and people who have tiny butter hands like me,
00:43they have the Impact and the Ultra Impact cases which is powered by
00:47Casetify's EcoShock Impact Absorption Technology.
00:50That's up to five times military standards and up to 11.5 feet of drop protection.
00:57Also, if you notice, they have that raised bezel there
01:01so that you don't scratch that nice big screen.
01:04You can also customize these cases.
01:06For example, mine has my literal name on it.
01:08I love it.
01:09Casetify has always brought looks and function to the game.
01:12And they also have other cute accessories like phone straps and screen protectors.
01:16For anyone who's ever asked me where to find the cutest cases, Casetify is one of my go-tos.
01:21Check them out, you guys.
01:22I'll link down below.
01:24Right, back to our video.
01:26So we all know that when the Samsung S23 Ultra launched,
01:28they talked a lot about nightography.
01:31This phone's main shooter is a 200 megapixel camera.
01:35There's a 12 megapixel wide, a 10 megapixel telephoto,
01:38and a 10 megapixel periscope lens.
01:41On the front-facing camera, this phone features a 12 megapixel selfie shooter.
01:46And Samsung has been touting AI in bettering their camera performance.
01:49They specifically emphasize better night selfies, better night selfie videos.
01:54Right, so quick story time.
01:55I wasn't actually gonna do this video except I went on a night out.
01:59And as we do, I was taking photos and posting them.
02:02And I was pretty impressed with the performance of this phone.
02:05Specifically, it was these two mirror shots that we took earlier on in the night.
02:09Because look at how bright and well-lit these photos look.
02:13When in reality, the place we were at looked this dark.
02:16These photos were honestly mind-blowing, for lack of a better term.
02:21I tried selfie-ing standing where I shot that same exact video.
02:25And this is how they turned out.
02:27Considering that these were lit by a candle, these turned out pretty well.
02:33Of course, they're not the sharpest.
02:35And of course, I did take time to be still to take the photos.
02:38But these were pretty impressive outcomes.
02:41Again, even when stuff was going down cue the people who will not be still for a photo,
02:46you can see how solid the neon light in the background looks.
02:52Since I technically wasn't testing out the cameras of this phone when I took those previous shots,
02:58and so I decided to take these cameras again.
03:00And I was pretty impressed with the results.
03:02I was like, okay, this is pretty good.
03:04I'm gonna try it again.
03:05And I'm gonna try it again.
03:06And I'm gonna try it again.
03:07And I'm gonna try it again.
03:08And I'm gonna try it again.
03:08And I'm gonna try it again.
03:09And I'm gonna try it again.
03:10And so I decided to take these cameras out for a spin in low-light scenarios
03:13where you'd usually want to shoot photos and selfies.
03:17Yes, I partied with a phone.
03:18I did all this to see just how well these cameras will fare in these very real-life scenarios.
03:40Photos generally did well on different modes and even on selfies,
03:45except for when everything was against the light.
03:48Though that's to be expected.
03:49That's generally how photos work.
03:51But yeah, despite the dim lights, the crazy lights, everything looked good, even on portrait mode.
04:02For a little comparison, this is side-by-side with photos taken with a Samsung Z Flip 4,
04:08one of Samsung's latest foldables from last year.
04:10Now, the Z Flip 4 doesn't have bad cameras.
04:14They actually have good cameras.
04:15It's just that they don't have as good cameras as the S23 Ultra.
04:20So this is a front-facing video in a bar nonetheless.
04:30We have to go out to test out the phone.
04:32This is the only reason why we're going out.
04:34Test out the phone.
04:35And because of Mary.
04:36It's Mary's birthday.
04:37That's primarily the reason, Isa.
04:39Primarily the reason.
04:41The other thing that really impressed me was how good the portrait mode was on low light.
05:09Love it!
05:11Happy birthday to me!
05:15It was a great evening celebrating a friend's birthday, testing out phones.
05:18And the night was very, very young.
05:21But we are not.
05:22So, well, we head off.
05:25But not after finding some food.
05:27Now, I will be muting this video because I had no business vlogging at this point.
05:31But as you can see, this is pretty decent camera performance for vlogging in the dark,
05:37in a car, at what time of the night.
05:40I was all in all impressed with the low light performance of the Samsung S23 Ultra,
05:46especially in this very challenging scenario.
05:49At this point, I think we can conclude that these are great cameras for low light.
05:53They're not perfect.
05:54But I dare say they're one of the best out there.
05:59But I now wanted to see how these cameras would have performed in just like low light scenarios
06:05without all the flashing, crazy dancing lights and things.
06:10A predictable scene would have been a nightscape, which I did.
06:13But then I decided to turn the camera around for some selfies.
06:16And this is what it looked like on normal mode.
06:19But guys, this is where it gets interesting.
06:22I turned on the night mode.
06:28And honestly, it gets crazier because it was pitch black in my room with only light source,
06:33the window, with faraway buildings.
06:36And this is what photos looked like when I shot them on night mode.
06:45Just to point out that the night mode doesn't seem to work
06:48with the 10x and the 100x zoom photos,
06:51which you're looking at right now.
06:53But I'm not gonna argue with these results
06:56because these are still mind-blowing at wide 1x and 3x.
07:01Honestly, I just couldn't believe how bright the photos look.
07:03So I had to take this photo all over again in my dark room.
07:17Now, these next clips are actually from a vlog test that's coming up soon, I promise.
07:22And I'll link it once it's up.
07:23But I did randomly chance upon this really nice light exhibit
07:28that I thought would be such a great way to test out the low light on these cameras.
07:34Here are those shots.
07:36Again, this will be part of a whole video that's a vlog test.
07:41And check that video out soon.
08:03And that's it for today's video.
08:08Let me know what you guys think.
08:09Let me know how you think the Samsung S23 Ultra performed.
08:13Suffice to say that Samsung was not kidding around
08:16when it comes to low light performance.
08:18I also now know which phone to grab if and when I go out with friends next.
08:23Right.
08:23If you want to see how I use my tech on a daily basis,
08:25find me online.
08:26That's Isa Does underscore on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
08:28Until next time.
