The Jeffrey Cheah Foundation held its scholarships and awards ceremony, disbursing RM75 million in scholarships this year.
The foundation, Malaysia's largest education social enterprise, has disbursed more than RM745 million in scholarships to date, benefitting thousands of deserving students throughout the years.
Her Royal Highness Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim and the foundation founder Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah presented the scholarships for students to study at the various entities under the Sunway Education Group.

00:44We have limited funds, we are not a government, but we try our best to showcase what good

00:55If you give good quality education, right values, and all this to a young person, he
01:02will be gainfully employed, happily employed, and usefully employed.
01:07And he will be a good contributor to nation building.
01:11That's what we need in this country.
01:14So I think that's what Sunway is doing all these years.
01:20And hopefully Sunway University and Sunway Colleges and Sunway International School will
01:28be here forever, and we will continue to give back to society with good quality education
01:37and values.
01:39The awards ceremony saw the presentation of scholarships in various categories, including
01:44the Chancellor's Scholarship, Sunway Excellence Scholarship, and Toon Dr. Siti Hasmah Muhammad
01:50Ali Scholarship for Creative Arts and Music.
01:53Chia, who is also the founder and chairman of Sunway Group, is a strong advocate of quality
01:58education, world-class research, and sustainable development, and it is his personal aim to
02:04award several billion ringgit worth of scholarships in his lifetime.
02:08Well, it's seven, four, five million now.
02:13So if I live another, hopefully, 20 years, there will be a lot of scholarship given out.
02:29So that's my hope and my aspiration, to really help the nation educate the young in the proper
02:38manner, good values, quality education, and become a world citizen, so to speak, and contribute
02:47to humanity.
02:48Chia also paid tribute to Her Royal Highness' firm dedication to elevating the Malaysian
02:54education system.
