00:27to the effects of Hurricane Christine, even here in Lawag City.

00:33Rainfall is also experienced in Ilocos Norte, as well as here in Lawag City.

00:38According to the LGU, the area of Lawag becomes a catch-base whenever it rains heavily,

00:45which results in flooding.

00:47All the water that flows out to our adjacent municipalities

00:56comes out here.

00:58That's why Lawag City is a catch-base.

01:01So, our number 1 hazard is flooding.

01:07That's why the province of Ilocos Norte is continuously on alert

01:10due to the effects of Hurricane Christine.

01:13Evacuation centers are also ready to bring in the residents who will be evacuated.

01:19Each family has its own room with a tidy bed and a clean bathroom.

01:26There is also a couple's room for spouses who want private time.

01:32Pre-positioned in the evacuation centers in Lawag are various relief packs

01:38that contain food and rice.

01:41Family kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits will also be distributed immediately.

01:47Lawag City is very far from the regional office.

01:51Although they have a warehouse here, we are 23 LGUs here in Ilocos Norte.

01:59And with this, having the kits here, right at the evacuation center,

02:06they can be immediately attended to.

02:09The supplies are ready for deployment whenever needed for evacuation.

02:15These are the rescue boats of the Ilocos Norte Provincial Government

02:20that will be used to respond to flood-hit areas in the province.

02:25Ferdinand E. Marcos Memorial Stadium serves as a staging area here in Lawag City

02:31for the rapid deployment of these rescue boats.

02:36The Office of Civil Defense, Ilocos Region, ordered all LGUs

02:42to carry out a pre-emptive evacuation in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas.

02:48And even if it's like a broken plate,

02:50residents will be reminded again and again to follow the authorities.

02:56We have seen what's happening in Vicolsa right now.

02:59The water is fast.

03:02Especially if the flood that is coming to us is from the mountains.

03:07It's easier to provide aid than to retrieve the boats.

03:13So as much as possible, we don't want to have any casualties or injuries.

03:20And let's remember that this flood is almost nationwide.

03:25We cannot ask for help right now.

03:42in Bangarla Union and Bacara, Ilocos Norte,

03:45a pre-emptive evacuation has already been carried out.
