00:00The public's well-being or the common good is government's paramount concern.
00:04Hence, the House of Representatives set aside and put off its oversight duties
00:10to focus on providing relief and assistance to people hit hard by severe tropical storm
00:15Christine's passage and fallout. PTV's Melales Moras tells us more.
00:22To help those affected by Typhoon Christine in various parts of the country,
00:27the ACT-CIS party list headed by Congressman Erwin Tulfo turned over P1M in cash aid to
00:33the Philippine Coast Guard. They also conveyed to the agency P1,000 sacks of rice to be given out
00:39to typhoon victims.
00:40That's what I'm asking for, Erwin, from the Coast Guard, aside from our thanks,
00:45what else can we do to help those in need in the Bicol region and other places,
00:51the ACT-CIS is ready to help at any time.
00:54We intend to bring the relief goods by sea. So right now, we are planning to send two ships.
01:03In a video message, Congressman Tulfo assured to continue monitoring the
01:07situation of our countrymen amidst this calamity.
01:10This is our small contribution from ACT-CIS and Erwin Tulfo Action Center
01:17for our countrymen who were swept away in the Bicol region to help our countrymen there.
01:27According to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, upon the directive of President Ferdinand R.
01:32Marquez, Jr., a large-scale relief operation has been put to action to assist the families
01:37severely affected by Typhoon Christine. Speaker Romualdez facilitated the request for the
01:42immediate release of P390 million in cash aid with additional relief packages worth over P21
01:49million for a total of more than P411 million. Speaker Romualdez said the President's directive
01:56is clear. No Filipino family or individual should be left behind in the government's
02:01assistance efforts. As of now, House hearings are also canceled as the congressmen focus
02:07on extending aid and support to their constituents affected by the typhoon.
02:11During this time of calamity, Filipinos should be united. Let's not talk about politics.
02:19This is what our President, BBM, is saying, a whole-of-nation approach.
