00:00As a preventative measure, the Philippine Ports Authority, or PPA, has ordered the suspension
00:05of all sea travel, while severe tropical storm Christine continues on its track.
00:11Meanwhile, several dams in Luzon are implementing a controlled release of water amid the continuous
00:17downpour in many areas of the country.
00:20Claizel Pardilia has the details.
00:25The Philippine Ports Authority has suspended travel at all ports across the country following
00:30continuous rain, strong waves, and the ongoing threat of Typhoon Christine.
00:34Currently, there are 7,313 stranded passengers, mostly in Bicol and Samar.
00:41We have 14 ports which are currently experiencing the effects of the storm.
00:45There are no trips as of this date.
00:49We request that the passengers monitor the situation and not proceed to the terminals.
00:55The PPA and DSWD-assured hot meals and food packs have been distributed to affected passengers.
01:03The PPA is investigating who is liable for the two ships that ran aground at the port
01:09of Batangas.
01:10The captain of one of the ships was missing in action at the time of the incident, in
01:16violation of PPA regulations.
01:19Meanwhile, the National Power Corporation has assured that water releases from large
01:24dams in Luzon remain under control.
01:28San Roque Dam in Pangasinan is releasing water at a rate of 52 cubic meters per second.
01:34The spilling gate of Ambuklao and Binga Dam in Benguet province is open at half a meter.
01:40We anticipate that a large amount of rain will hit the dam and not just collect our dams.
01:49So the releases that are made here are very controlled and will definitely not cause floods.
01:55Residents are still advised to exercise caution.
