00:00The Youth Economic Forum 2024, drawing its largest audience in eight years, welcomed
00:07over 1,200 students from various local high schools, colleges and universities.
00:17The forum, on the theme, A Second Economic Takeoff, Malaysia's Path to the New Economy,
00:22encouraged youth leadership and participation in national administration and governance.
00:30The notable speakers include Digital Minister Gobind Singh Dio, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari
00:35Abdul, EU2Malaysia Delegation Minister Councillor Timo Guzman, and Petronas Chief Sustainability
00:42Officer Charlotte Wolf Bai.
00:45In his closing address, Tengku Zaful highlighted the pivotal role of Malaysia's youth in
00:49shaping the nation's future.
00:51He urged young Malaysians to seize the opportunities awaiting them in sectors such as AI and semiconductor
00:57technology and green industries.
01:00Chandra Nair, founder of Global Institute for Tomorrow, stressed the need for an education
01:04overhaul to give children the best possible education.
01:09He said teachers deserve to be paid as much as ministers in the government as they are
01:12essential in building the foundation of a progressive society.
01:16Meanwhile, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Dio said the government must empower and incentivize
01:21small businesses to embrace technology and digitalization.
01:25He said government support in this matter is especially important considering that there
01:29are over 1 million small businesses in Malaysia.
01:32Participants only have great things to say about the forum.
01:35Jadid Saadi, 22, believes that participating in the forum could help him achieve his goals
01:40of pursuing a career in corporate finance or even becoming a politician.

01:47I believe that YEF today actually helped me and make some new knowledge that will make
01:53me great ahead in the future.
01:56Shamsul Hariz, a student from International Islamic University in Malaysia, encouraged
02:00his peers to remember the lessons learned during the forum and to put them into action.
02:05Actions must be taken after the forum as well.
02:08After they heard the opinions, they are networking, what is next?
02:12That is the most important thing that we need to ask ourselves and we need to act upon.
