00:00Chinese voters were reportedly not enthusiastic about voting for Pakatan Harapan due to dissatisfaction
00:09with the government's economic performance, Ilham Centre Executive Director Hisomudin
00:14Bakar said.
00:16He said disappointment with the economic recovery and dissatisfaction with the new targeted
00:21diesel subsidy shaped the views of the voters.
00:24He said Chinese voters appear to be becoming critical of the government, but they have
00:29not gone so far as to vote for Perikatan Nasional.
00:33He also claimed that the DAP machinery which leads the state government was not very aggressive
00:38in this campaign.
00:40Meanwhile Mazlan Ali from University Technology Malaysia said he expected this protest from
00:46middle and upper income groups who do not benefit from subsidy assistance.
00:51He said PN successfully played the narrative of fuel price increases, making the public
00:56feel as though the government was not fulfilling its promises.
01:01He also said Malays came out to vote earnestly to protest against the government, adding
01:06that the issue concerning the global investment firm BlackRock, which was linked to the takeover
01:10of Malaysia Airport's Holdings Berhad, was an added factor.
