00:00The 26-year-old woman had a fall last Thursday when paramedics were called to her home.
00:09They found that she had a serious medical condition, as well as open sores and wounds.
00:14They also found that she was living in squalor.
00:17She was taken to the local hospital in Port Augusta here, but as her condition worsened
00:22she was then transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital the next day, where she then later
00:26died on Monday.
00:28She lived here on Edinburgh Terrace with her mother, and despite her intellectual and physical
00:34disabilities, she wasn't an NDIS participant, nor did she have a care plan in place.
00:40And her death has now triggered a coronial investigation.
00:43Her medical records have been seized and her mother is cooperating with those investigations.
00:48Here's what police had to say earlier about that.
00:51Mum lives with her daughter and obviously supports her, but there may be other people
00:57who had a role in providing care, or who should have been providing care, so we won't
01:03jump to conclusions as to who is solely criminally liable.
01:07Police say there are similarities between this case and that of the neglect case of
01:12Anne Marie Smith, an Adelaide woman who died in 2020.
01:16She lived with cerebral palsy and when she died, she died from severe septic shock, organ
01:21failure, malnutrition and other complications as well.
