00:00Despite the support of some to postpone the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections
00:05in front of the departure of the province of Sulu to BARMM,
00:08the approval of the Certificate of Candidacy and CONCAN for the upcoming elections in the region
00:14has started today.
00:16Louisa Erispe is in the center of the news.
00:18Yes, Louisa.
00:23The parliamentary elections here in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao or BARMM
00:29was shown by the Commission on Elections after personnel came here to Cotabato City
00:36for the approval of the COC and CONCAN filing of the candidates
00:41or candidates for the parliamentary elections next year.
00:46Despite the issuance of the resolution by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority last month
00:52asking the Congress not to continue the parliamentary elections in 2025
00:58the Comelec insisted that as long as there is no law saying that the parliamentary elections in BARMM will be suspended,
01:04it will continue.
01:06And one of the proofs is the approval of the COC and CONCAN filing in the region today.
01:13We want to show that the Comelec will not be affected by such filing
01:18because again, as long as there is no law, the Commission on Elections is prepared.
01:23We will finish the filing of the candidates from November 4 to 9
01:27and therefore, to those who are hesitating, our fellow countrymen are hesitating
01:32that your Commission is right here
01:34and therefore, we are willing and able and we will be accepting all your certificates of candidacy.
01:39The Comelec said that they expect that some may not be able to file their candidacy today
01:46because of the possible delay in the Congress in the suspension of the parliamentary elections.
01:52But if there are those who are hesitating, there are still those who are prioritizing the filing
01:57and showing their willingness for the parliamentary elections to continue.
02:02For example, the COC was the first to file their candidacy today in Cotabato City
02:06for the District Representative from the United Banks Moro Justice Party or UBJP.
02:12There is also a political party called Moro Ako Party that was filed by their CONCAN.
02:18The Comelec said that for the parliamentary elections, 73 seats will be filled in BARMM.
02:2540 of them are political party nominees, 25 are district representatives, and 8 are sectoral representatives.
02:33But for the record, only those from BARMM who will vote for the parliamentary elections
02:38are one political party and one district representative.
02:42The parliamentary elections and national and local elections will be held at the same time on May 12, 2025.
02:48That's why there will be two balotas here in BARMM.
02:51But the Comelec also said that even if the election does not continue,
02:55they see the possibility that the parliamentary elections will be manual instead of automated
03:02because of the huge expense when it will be suspended and when it continues, it will still be automated elections.
03:09It's more expensive if it's automated.
03:11If we automate here in BANGSAMORO, we might have to spend P3 billion.
03:17Here in the elections that we will hold on May 12,
03:21BANGSAMORO will only have a ride in the national and local elections.
03:28That's why it won't be that expensive.
03:30Until November 9, the COC and CONCAN will file here in BANGSAMORO Autonomous Region for Muslim in Danau or BARMM.
03:38The police and the Philippine Army are continuously targeting them.
03:44The truth is that we are here in the 6th Infantry Division
03:48and the Commission on Elections is holding a command conference here for security.
03:55When the COC filed, there were some violations,
03:59such as the firing of guns and the theft of COC here in BARMM.
04:04That's what is being avoided.
04:06The challenge of COMELEC to the candidates is that they will be the ones to inform their supporters
04:13that there will be no chaos during the COC and CONCAN filing for the parliamentary elections.
04:21That's the latest from Tabato City.
04:23Back to you Judges Studio.
04:25Okay. Thank you very much Luisa Erisbe.
