03:01And when Engine Joe failed to return,

03:14Well, that's what Doc Robinson and Engine Joe quarreled over.

03:19Where is the treasure buried?
03:21There's an old barn on Jackson's Island.
03:23It must be buried in there.
03:24Let me go with you.
03:26Nope. Girls' bad luck on treasure hunts.

03:30I'm hunting for that treasure tonight, with Bill Harper.

03:38Start digging in that corner,
03:40where the floorboard's loose.
03:41Treasure might be there.

03:47No sooner had Bill started digging,
03:50than he struck something hard.
03:52Tom! I found the treasure! I found it!

03:57But just then, Tom ran back from the doorway.
04:00Bill, let it be! Quick, up the ladder to the loft!
04:02Somebody's coming, and I think it's Engine Joe!

04:10Somebody tries to steal money.

04:20Carefully, Tom spliced their pants and shirts together,
04:23then tied one end to a beam.
04:25Soon, they lowered themselves to the floor.
04:28Looking for the river now, Tom?
04:30Wait a minute.
04:31Engine Joe must have headed for the cave
04:32on the other side of the island.
04:34He's gonna rebury the treasure there.
04:36Let's go after him.
04:37Not me! I'm going home!

04:44Not long after, a ferry boat took a picnic crowd
04:47to Jackson's Island,
04:48and Tom invited Becky Thatcher along.
04:51Do you really think Engine Joe hid the treasure
04:53in the cave, Tom?
04:55Well, I'm not sure, but it would be a good place.
04:57Why don't we explore it right now?

05:03Suddenly, Tom tripped over something,
05:06fell to his knees.
05:07Becky, look what I tripped over, the treasure!
05:10That's wonderful! Now let's go back.

05:13I can't see the entrance to the cave anymore.
05:16Becky, we're lost!

05:20Grimly, Tom and Becky wandered underground.
05:24They had almost given up,
05:26when they made a turn in the passageway, and then...
05:28Look! The light!
05:30There's the entrance! We're safe!

05:35Later on, Tom told the townspeople about the cave.
05:38They were sure Engine Joe would return to get his treasure,
05:42so they set up a guard and waited.
05:44One day, he returned...
05:46and was caught!

05:51I give up.
05:52I go peaceful.
05:54Tom had helped catch Engine Joe,
05:57so he was a hero.
05:59And he had his share of the treasure, too.
06:01But all the money in the world
06:03couldn't keep him out of trouble,
06:05nor keep him from having more adventures.
