00:00The Commission on Elections made it clear that those who registered more than once to vote in the next year are likely to face a lack of cases.

00:14The Commission on Elections is now cleaning the list of voters for the 2025 National and Local Elections.

00:20It is proven that 1 million new registrants are likely to be removed from the official list of those who are allowed to vote in the next year.

00:30500,000 is only for July to September, but I removed 3.

00:38We have from February 12 to April, which is more or less 300,000,

00:42then April 16 to July 14, which is more or less less than 200,000.

00:48So that means we need to remove all of them because they are double or multiple registrants.

00:54If it is proven that a new voter registered twice, he can still face a lack of cases, especially if it is on purpose.

01:03If it is proven that a new voter registered twice, you can be charged with election offense, 1 to 6 years imprisonment.

01:11We already did that in the 2022 elections. Our law department already charged a lot.

01:17Komelek clarified that the original registration of a voter is more likely to be recognized if his or her registration is double and they can still vote.

01:26Meanwhile, a judge approved the increase of the number of registered voters in some barangays in Batangas, Makati, and Nueva Ecija, which is also being investigated by Komelek.

01:37The Commission said that many of the registrants used barangay certificates instead of government IDs in their registration.
