00:00Today we are here because we can announce the winner of an ERC Synergy Grant for the research group of Professor Elena Cattaneo.
00:15We are particularly proud because it is one of the highest awards for research at the European and international level.
00:23These are projects that reward in particular the cohesion and collaboration of research groups at the international level,
00:31so also the ability to make a team and work on the same topic starting from different athenae and different research groups.
00:39So a recognition of great value, we are the only ones in 2024 in Milan.
00:47Today we also take the opportunity to present the projects that are the winning results of the ERC Synergy Grant in recent years,
00:56always researchers of the State University of Milan, and to make a point on the advancement of these projects, all of them of great international relevance.
01:06We are a great multidisciplinary athenaeum and this gives the possibility to our researchers also within the State University
01:14to be able to compare and to put in common the research capacity of the various disciplines.
01:21So there is a possibility to make researchers of various fields interact on a certain topic.
01:28We bring this strength also in Europe and in the world, so we give our researchers a boost on research,
01:36both in the ability to bring interdisciplinary skills, both in our ability to support basic research,
01:44and therefore also the curiosity driven research, which is based precisely on the freedom of the researcher to imagine,
01:51in a creative way, of the solutions, to imagine an advancement of research,
01:57which is then supported by the best research tools, and then also supported in the phase of the transfer of knowledge,
02:04and therefore also of the technological transfer.
02:06I believe that the ability of a large public athenaeum to support the entire research line,
02:12therefore not only the part of the technological transfer, very important also for us,
02:17but the ability to also support researchers in the phases of research, let's say,
02:25driven precisely by curiosity, by the will, by the desire to try to find new solutions to important topics for society,
02:36from the point of view of research, is something that characterizes us.
