00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at 10 secrets you should look out for
00:08while playing Metaphor Rephantasio.

00:23Gold Beetles
00:27By the time you've reached the first dungeon in the game, you've probably snagged a couple
00:31of items dubbed Gold Beetles.
00:33For the first couple dozen hours of the game, you may not have the faintest idea as to what
00:38purpose these beetles serve.
00:40Well, you'll learn once you set foot in Port Brialhaven.
00:44Inside the Arenafront Wharf, you'll meet the elderly Entomophile.
00:49This man will take the golden beetles you've collected and reward you with rare, invaluable
00:53items.
00:54Even though Metaphor is hiding a total of 50 gold beetles to collect, you only need
00:5946 to obtain the Entomophile's final reward.
01:03So keep your eyes peeled while you're dungeon exploring.
01:09Crawl Spaces
01:19While this isn't exactly a secret, we do want to take a minute to emphasize the importance
01:24of Crawl Spaces.
01:26More often than not, you will get a clear direction of where you need to go while exploring
01:30dungeons.
01:31However, Crawl Spaces are vital to your campaign if you want to see and do everything.
01:37Not only can they provide alternate and sometimes safer paths, they may also lead to treasure
01:42chests or special enemy encounters.
01:45That said, if you think you've seen everything on one floor, don't hesitate to do one more
01:50thorough search while using Galaka's radar.
01:53She can help point out Crawl Spaces with a visual pulse.
02:00Stat Boosts
02:06Previous Atlus games have offered various ways to increase your protagonist's stats.
02:10Unfortunately, they haven't really offered a way for the player to influence a chance
02:14to obtain greater amounts of XP.
02:17Metaphor ReFantasio, on the other hand, is giving the player as much opportunity as possible.
02:22Some activities, such as cooking at the Hushed Honey Bee Inn, will require you to make a
02:27decision mid-session.
02:29Two options will net you a minuscule amount of XP at the end of the session, as well as
02:33a bad result, but choose the correct option and you'll be given a much more substantial
02:39boost in XP.
02:41Make the most of these sessions and choose your options carefully if you wish to prove
02:45yourself as a better choice for a game.
02:51Idols Day is Best Day
02:59If you're trying to be as frugal as possible in your playthrough, Metaphor does provide
03:03a window to nab items at a cheaper cost.
03:07Every Idols Day is essentially the weekend in-game, and it's the day of the week where
03:11every shop slaps big discounts on their items.
03:15With that in mind, you may want to consider saving all of your shopping needs for Idols
03:20Day, and do all of your social activities, dungeon exploring, and main missions the other
03:25four days of the week.
03:26Also, make sure you're checking the calendar for specific holidays, as those may influence
03:31shops to offer more discounts at those times.
03:34Your calendar even tells you the holidays in advance so you can properly map out your
03:38plans.
03:44Magic Recovery
03:45As expected because of past Atlus games, items that help you recover MP are hard to
03:56come by, at least when you're out venturing into dungeons.
03:59If you're finding yourself leaning on magic-based attacks more often than usual, you should
04:03probably be investing some time into studying the Mage Archetype.
04:07From the moment you equip the Mage Archetype, you and your party will recover some MP whenever
04:12you defeat or stun an enemy in real-time combat.
04:15Just keep in mind that this passive skill will only trigger when you stun or defeat
04:20the enemy.
04:21If you get smacked and start combat in peril, you will not get any of the skill's benefits.
04:31Archetypes of Atlus Past
04:37As you progress in Metaphor ReFantasio and continue to study and evolve archetypes, you'll
04:42unlock more powerful forms of those archetypes.
04:46Funny enough, three of the Elite archetypes serve not only as superior forms, but also
04:52easter eggs of previous Atlus games.
04:55The most obvious one most players will recognize is the Elite Masked Dancer archetype, which
05:00is named Persona Master.
05:03Stick with the Seeker long enough, and you'll unlock the Elite Seeker known as Soul Hacker.
05:08As for the Summoner, you can awaken the Elite form known as the Devil Summoner, which is
05:14an obvious reference to Shin Megami Tensei.
05:17A bit on the nose with some of these names, but a clever way to pay tribute to Atlus'
05:21acclaimed franchises pre-Metaphor.
05:30The Disgraced Ruins
05:38While the Grand Shrads' catacombs will keep you busy for most of the game, Metaphor ReFantasio
05:43does feature several optional dungeons to explore, some of which are locked behind social
05:48stats while others are only discoverable through informants.
05:52You'll only be able to access this dungeon after 9-26, or September 26, and if you pay
05:59the informant 3500 Reave.
06:02While it is the hardest dungeon in the entire game, the Disgraced Ruins might be your final
06:07opportunity in obtaining Elite archetypes, rare gear, and more before you take on the
06:13catacombs one last time.
06:15Just keep in mind that traveling to the Disgraced Ruins will eat up an entire day from your
06:19schedule to and from the ruins.
06:27The Mirror of Asaya and the Mirror of Atsiluuf
06:31One of the best pieces of equipment you can get in Metaphor is the Mirror of Asaya.
06:35This accessory has the power to repel all physical attacks.
06:39Doesn't matter if it's pierce, slash, or strike damage, it means nothing to the user.
06:45If you have designated one of your party members to the mage or healer archetype, this item
06:49will play a vital role in whether you emerge from boss battles in decent condition, as
06:54those archetypes are weak to strike and pierce respectively.
06:57However, if you find one character is getting targeted a lot by elemental attacks, you might
07:03want to look for the Mirror of Atsiluuf.
07:05Whereas Mirror of Asaya negates physical attacks, Mirror of Atsiluuf negates all elemental attacks.
07:12Yeah, you're going to want to seek out these trinkets as soon as possible.
07:16The Phantasmal Doll
07:23Metaphor Rephantasio quickly shows you a replica of the Royal Scepter and how it is supposedly
07:28the most powerful weapon in existence.
07:30However, there is one item that can break the game in your favor.
07:34The Phantasmal Doll defies Metaphor's rules by giving the user one simple advantage, an
07:39extra turn.
07:41Whoever holds the Phantasmal Doll can take a second turn at the expense of another party
07:45member losing their turn.
07:47Sounds risky, but if used correctly with the right party members, you can make a joke out
07:52of most foes.
07:53However, this is one of the most expensive items in the entire game, costing a whopping
07:5849,000 Reave.
08:01So we only recommend you purchase it if you have a plan on how you're going to use it.
08:06The Secret Final Boss
08:13That's right, Metaphor Rephantasio hides a secret final boss that is missable if you
08:18perform certain actions.
08:20Not to spoil too much, but when venturing through Tyrant's Star Dungeon, you'll come
08:25across Melancholia Crystals before reaching Luis.
08:28Your party members will pressure you to destroy it, but you do have the option of completely
08:33ignoring the crystal.
08:35Should you ignore the crystal and move forward to fight Luis, you will be met with the toughest
08:39boss fight in the entire game.
08:41Had you destroyed the crystal, Luis would be weakened and you would have been given
08:45one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
