00:00It is expected that the problem of flooding in Metro Manila and Calabarzon will be resolved
00:05following the approval of two major flood control projects by President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.

00:19the government will pay more attention to the two major flood control projects in the country.
00:24In the 22nd NEDA board meeting led by President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.,
00:29it approved the expansion of construction and other adjustments
00:34of the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project
00:37and Pasig-Marquina River Channel Improvement Project Phase 4.
00:40According to the Presidential Communications Office,
00:42the board approved the additional project cost of the Cavite Industrial Area Flood Risk Management Project
00:48from the previous 9.891 billion pesos,
00:51which is now more than 22 billion pesos.
00:54According to the President,
00:55the structural capacity will be more targeted in the changing times
00:59as well as the housing in affected areas.
01:01He also added that the fund will really increase following the adjustment,
01:05but he still included it in the guidelines.
01:08The board also approved the expansion of the implementation of the project
01:12from April this year until September of 2029.
01:16Also, there are some needs to be done in the project
01:18such as the expansion of diversion channels and additional drainages.
01:23The loan reallocation of the project with a total of 1.042 billion Japanese Yen
01:28from consulting services and contingencies was also adjusted.
01:31For now, the physical accomplishment of the project is already at 44%
01:35and the disbursed fund for it is now up to 35%.
01:39Aside from the project that will reduce the effect of the flood in the San Juan River Basin
01:43and Alimango Creek Drainage Area in Cavite,
01:46the board also approved the project cost of more than 57 billion pesos
01:50for the Phase 4 of the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project.
01:53Its implementation will also be extended from December 25, 2025 until March 2031.
02:00The board also approved the reallocation of 3.363 billion Japanese Yen
02:05along with the supplemental loan of 45.759 billion Japanese Yen.
02:09The President also requested that the design of the project
02:13that is anchored in the changing times should be adjusted to avoid the spillover of the Marikina River.
02:18This is something that the DPWH has promised.
02:21The project's target is to reduce the spillover of the Pasig-Marikina River during the typhoon
02:26where many places in Metro Manila and nearby provinces will benefit.
02:31The Chief Executive also gave a statement that through this project,
02:34more lives will be protected and the progress will be assured
02:38when the safety of the majority is not compromised.
02:41The implementation of the Philippine International Exhibition Center Project
02:44was also approved by the NEDA Board.
02:4740 units of FAST Patrol Crafts will also be obtained
02:50and will be funded under the Official Development Assistance.
