00:00And how did this one happen, though?
00:04Like you said, there was a long layoff.
00:05Obviously, the issues with this title,
00:08with the juggernaut after his suspension
00:10with the McTarrill fight,
00:11how did this fight come together for you with Sawyer DP?
00:14Was it something that just came out of nowhere?
00:16Was it something they've been talking with you
00:18since the suspension of Lorenzo came out?
00:20How did this happen behind the scenes?
00:24You know, your guess is as good as mine, honestly.
00:27I'm not too cued in on what goes in behind the scenes,
00:31but they ended up just contacting me.
00:33You know, I had an idea that it would be Sawyer
00:35because he just came off a first-round knockout himself.
00:39I think it was first round.
00:40He fought my teammate, and, you know, from there,
00:43I think he was ranked number one, actually,
00:45in the division, and I'm either two or three.
00:48So I figured it was going to be him
00:49or there's a couple other guys in the rankings,
00:51but they were all lined up to fight.
00:54So I was assuming it was going to be Sawyer anyway.
00:57Well, you got what you expected,
00:59and you did probably what you expected to do, too,
01:01and we've seen that throughout your BKFC career.
01:04Before the Lorenzo fight was obviously these quick finishes,
01:07these quick knockouts, showing that power.
01:09We see it right there, that right hand that, you know,
01:12was so good, it spun him completely around,
01:14flat down on his face.
01:16You don't even need the 10 count.
01:18Coming into that fight, what did you expect?
01:20Did you expect to be more of a slugfest
01:21and, you know, a war that you would have to go into?
01:23You know, maybe the third or fourth round with him
01:25before you could finish him because of success in the BKFC?
01:28Were you confident in your power like you have always been
01:30and thought it could be a quick finish?
01:31What were you looking for walking into that squared circle?
01:35I was confident and also, like I said,
01:37changing that mentality of win or retire.
01:40You know, I still love doing this,
01:41so I don't want to retire,
01:43but I told myself if I wasn't going to be champion,
01:45what's the point of doing it?
01:46So with that one being a title fight
01:49and the fight with Lorenzo, I was like,
01:51man, I don't see him giving me a third shot
01:52if anything goes south on this one.
01:55So, yeah, I like putting all that pressure on myself
01:57to get it done or be done.
01:59And luckily for me, it worked out.
02:02You know, all the preparation was great.
02:04The fight actually went exactly like we planned,
02:07even down to the finishing combination.
02:09So I think we did our homework right.
02:11And I knew it would be a tough fight,
02:12but I had a feeling I would put him away.
02:17And you certainly did that right.
02:18Gets the finish pretty quickly into it.
02:20Did you know once that landed and you saw
02:22the way he went down that it was over,
02:24was there any thought in your mind
02:25that he was going to get back up from that?
02:26Or did you know once he did the spinarama flat on the face
02:29that there was no chance that this guy was going to recover?
02:33Yeah, I mean, as soon as it landed,
02:34I was 99% sure he wasn't getting up.
02:39As you see me walking off there,
02:40once I turned around and saw he was still face down,
02:43I was like, yeah, there's no way he's getting up.
02:45I felt I hit all of my knuckles flush.
02:49It didn't hurt my hand at all,
02:50where sometimes bare knuckle stuff
02:52makes your hands swell and everything.
02:53So I knew that the punch landed perfectly
02:55and kind of went straight through everything.
03:00And obviously, you know, we talked about,
03:01you know, your girlfriend and those, you know,
03:03her friends being there cheering for you.
03:05Obviously, much of the arena was.
03:06But, you know, an interesting corner person you had as well.
03:09If you're going to talk about chamois chips,
03:10you're going to talk about one-punch power.
03:12No better to be there and talking you through it
03:15than a guy like Chuck Liddell.
03:16How did that come to fruition? How did that happen?
03:18How did, you know, you guys hook up
03:19and him end up being in your corner for this fight?
03:22So Chuck was one of the coaches
03:23when I was on The Ultimate Fighter back in 2010.
03:26So that was when I first met him.
03:28And then I've run into him over the years,
03:29kept in contact, you know, messaging back and forth.
03:32And his company, King of Violence, was sponsoring me.
03:36So his clothing line was sponsoring me for the fight.
03:38And then he asked about cornering.
03:39So who's going to say no to Chuck Liddell
03:41being in your corner?
