00:00And they definitely help repel you of course I'm sure to the victory you get the unanimous
00:06decision win there against Rivera and a tough battle between you two.
00:11What did you think of early in the fight the way it was being you know kind of rough by
00:15Merguliata because it was weird there seemed about three different times in those first
00:18two rounds you know two for Jimmy one for you where it could have been called a knockdown
00:23maybe and of course that scoring could have changed things either way in one way or the
00:26other but you know Merguliata let you guys just keep going and you know I've heard of
00:29you don't let him play let him fight but what did you think of the way that you know
00:33the mat was touched one way or another by both of you in that first two rounds and none
00:36of them were called for a knockdown well I was battling the same exact thing in Hollywood
00:42Florida against Brian Duran there are so many knockdowns knockdowns that weren't called
00:46but you know you can't leave it in the ref's hands and it was in the second round is my
00:51mistake I had a beautiful knockdown right on the start and I think I rushed in there
00:57a little bit too quickly because Merguliata didn't call it a knock and that's why I walked
01:02right into Jimmy's beautiful overhand right but you know because Dan Merguliata messed
01:08that up I still have not technically been knocked down on paper in my entire combat
01:14sports career so hats off to Merguliata for that one apparently but but no you know I
01:19really wish that we could have a little bit better reffing in there not saying like Dan
01:24Merguliata is one of the best refs in the game and mistakes happen they crossed each
01:28other out and it was it was no harm no foul but it there's a lot of money there's a lot
01:34of legacy there's a lot of stuff on the line so I've seen I really hope that those count
01:39you know for me for against me I don't really care but knockdowns should be knockdowns that
01:46was great performance by both you guys it seemed like early on the ongoing I like the
01:50first two rounds seemed like he was finding a little bit of success you know getting in
01:54there fighting tight with you and getting you know in the clinch work that you love
01:57to do that both you love because of that wrestling background seemed like he was doing you know
02:00better than those first two rounds and then the third fourth fifth is where you seem to
02:04really turn it on you found your distance you found that striking range and that timing
02:08was there something that changed in those last three rounds or was it just a matter
02:11of you you know being in there with him getting that timing down for you to find out you know
02:15where you need to go and find those openings like you did watching it back and being in
02:20there I definitely felt some frantic nervous energy and I do really really well but nobody's
02:26perfect I do very very very very well mentally it's one of the best aspects of my game but
02:32you know I'm not perfect and I had to battle through some first two round jitters and then
02:38I just I just I found my pace I found my motion I started to feel really really good and that
02:46that's just all it was some nervous energy and I'm gonna I'm gonna go back to the mindset
02:50drawing board and we're gonna fix that for next time because against you know I don't
02:57want to make a mistake like that and get like knocked out because in combat sports if the
03:01fights called and stopped doesn't matter what you do in the third fourth fifth round I just
03:06gotta I gotta wrap that up a little bit better but that's me versus me and that's how I like
03:11it so I'm gonna go back to the drawing board and we're gonna we're gonna really figure
03:15out how to start fights a little bit stronger I have statistically and historically lost
03:19the first round so
